It's true that research requires funding, but Noah's research doesn't seem to cost much, if anything at all, right?
For one, the data he studies is essentially provided by the system, so the most significant cost has already been eliminated for Noah. Even if he bought a dragon for experiments, the cost was minimal with the assistance of Mr. Ferencz.
However, Dumbledore and the others were unaware of these details. All they knew was that Noah was conducting magical research.
Dumbledore had even witnessed Noah dissecting a tree-peak dragon, carefully extracting its organs for study and documentation. So, he believed Noah without hesitation.
After a brief pause, Dumbledore asked, "Do you need the Ministry of Magic to fund your magical research project?"
The Ministry's financial support would be far more convenient than Noah running a business on his own. Moreover, Dumbledore believed that the wealthier members of the Ministry would find the collaboration with the Guardians of the Temple to be an intriguing prospect, willing to open their wallets in support.
Several Ministry of Magic staff members, eager for involvement, awaited his response.
Yet, Noah considered the matter for a moment before gently shaking his head, declining their offer. The Ministry staff couldn't hide their disappointment.
"No, Professor. The Ministry of Magic's funds should be used more appropriately. If Charles and I succeed in our project, it might even increase the Ministry's tax revenue."
Noah raised a goblet filled with fine wine, smiling as he spoke.
"Is that so?" Dumbledore nodded thoughtfully, then asked with curiosity, "Can you share what the project entails?"
Noah smiled wider. "I don't know if Professor Dumbledore has noticed, but while magic users have started using computers and mobile phones, and the internet is now widespread throughout the magical world, there's still a major gap — we don't have any social products."
"Social products?"
The term was unfamiliar, especially to Dumbledore and others who had spent their entire lives in the magical world. Even Charles, who had grown up in the ordinary world, wasn't completely familiar with the concept.
However, after Noah's explanation, it became clear. The "social product" Noah referred to was software that enabled social connections — social software.
The internet was already established within the wizarding world, with most wizards having their own computers and mobile phones, though Hogwarts was an exception due to interference from strong magical fields. Still, phone bills remained quite expensive, and not everyone could afford a mobile phone.
Sometimes, reaching someone by phone could be difficult, and writing letters was still a common practice. Unfortunately, owls weren't always cooperative, especially over long distances. It could take weeks for a letter to arrive.
Noah had even heard a tale of a wizard who sent a letter to his family, only for the owl to return with a phone and an instruction manual.
Noah's idea for social products promised to enhance communication between wizards. He emphasized that these products would create a larger social platform, expanding magicians' social circles.
Aside from connecting friends and family more easily, it would also provide a space for wizards to express their opinions on public matters. It could even extend to the Ministry of Magic, creating connections across international magical communities.
Dumbledore and the Ministry staff seemed intrigued by the idea, seeing the potential for a much more connected magical world.
"This is a truly remarkable concept," Dumbledore said, his lips pursed in thought. It was clear to him — and the others in the Ministry — how beneficial this idea could be.
As for how Noah and his team would profit? That didn't concern them. Even if the Ministry of Magic supported the project in full, it would be fine!
Particularly with a platform for wizards to voice their opinions — this could easily shift public opinion. With just a little guidance, many wizards would likely support the Ministry's decisions. If successful, the Daily Prophet might find itself out of business!
Hermione, sitting nearby, looked at Noah in surprise. She hadn't expected such an innovative idea from him. Though she wasn't sure how Noah planned to make money from it, she had to admit that his idea could truly bring the magical community closer.
"Oh, by the way, this is just one of the ideas. The development of this social product is a secondary task. I have a few other ideas that shouldn't take too much time to complete."
Noah observed their reactions and knew the project was gaining momentum. The idea could potentially bring together not only the British magical community but the entire global magical community.
Even without international connections, as long as Noah and his team cooperated effectively, success was within reach.
"This social product is truly meaningful. If you encounter any obstacles, don't hesitate to reach out to the Ministry of Magic."
Dumbledore nodded in approval, though he regretted the project couldn't be realized immediately. Still, he fully supported the initiative.
"Thank you, Professor Dumbledore," Noah replied. "There's another idea I've been considering. Have you heard of movies?"
"Movies?" Dumbledore blinked, puzzled. "Is it the kind of thing people watch together in theaters?"
"Well, kind of," Noah chuckled. "But there's more to it."
While Dumbledore's understanding of movies was somewhat off, Noah could see the potential for the magic world to embrace them. Movies were profitable, especially when you didn't have to worry about complex special effects or extravagant budgets.
There were no movies in the magical world yet, but Noah was confident that could change.
"I was thinking… what if we adapted some existing stories into movies? Perhaps a version of Harry Potter where I'm the protagonist instead? Or, what about making a film about the X-Men, or even the entire Marvel Universe?"
Though making a Marvel Universe movie might be a bit complicated due to its timeline, Noah considered starting with something simpler. The Harry Potter series, with its roots in Hogwarts and the reign of Voldemort, seemed like a good place to start.
After discussing the potential of both projects with Dumbledore, Noah felt a sense of relief. There was much to do in the coming years, but now was the perfect time to lay the groundwork.
The Ministry of Magic's dinner stretched on until around ten o'clock that evening. When Noah finally left, he felt reassured. The Ministry was fully on board with his plans, and Dumbledore's support was exactly what he needed.
If these projects succeeded, Noah could imagine the future — rich in both wealth and connections. As a magician deeply involved in research, the need for funds was clear.
Beyond that, these social tools would help unite the magical community.
"Maybe when the magic academy recruits students in the future, it won't be an owl perched on your windowsill, but a mysterious message that appears on your phone, one only you can see."
Noah chuckled to himself, recalling the silly owl that had once visited his room. How much had changed since then?
He had been learning magic for over ten years now, and the time had flown. Soon, he would be a high-level magician, with only one step left to take.
But as he continued to reflect, a question popped into his mind.
"Hey, if there had been no windowsill in my room back then, where would the owl have flown?"
