"Oh my goodness, Samantha." Kaia squealed as she brought in a white box which was sent in for Samantha. Samantha knew who it was from and there was no need to ponder on who it was. "He really is serious about you following him to an event."
"It was a threat, Kaia." Samantha mumbled, standing from the sofa to see what was in the box. "If I don't go, he will tell the boss and that will be my last job in this country."
Although it was her day off, she had told Sonya that she would be working an extra shift so she could stay over at Kaia's and have time for the event. Sonya didn't care, as long as she had her alcohol, cigarette and food, Samantha could stay missing till she needed her restock.
"Even so, Samantha. Look at the packaging. There's only one boutique that does their packaging like this." Kaia said, opening the box with a gasp. She grabbed the white and gold business card, her eyes twinkling. "It is Sunbeam Boutique."
Samantha was stunned. She had spent a lot of time listening to women in the club to know that Sunbeam was the top boutique in the country. Not only did they have a boutique, they also had a fashion house and Samantha had always wanted to know what their dresses were like. It isn't really shocking if Darian would send a cloth like that to her.
The gown inside the box didn't hesitate to live up to the boutique's hype. Soft lilac satin was folded neatly, its surface shining with a layer of violet chiffon resting on top of it. She could see some tiny flowers on it and they almost looked real. Beside the gown, there were silver strap heels with a pearl necklace in its own small case alongside some earrings.
"Wow." Kaia exclaimed, taking out the final piece, a violet silk hair ribbon and a masquerade ball mask. "He isn't stopping at the least level."
Samantha was still speechless when a ding came through her phone. She pulled out the phone to see a message from an unknown number. "Do you like the dress? I'll pick you up by 8. Be ready."
"He said he'll be here by 8." Samantha said to Kaia who snapped her head towards the time.
"That's in two hours. We need you to look pretty and all set before he arrives since he said he'll be coming himself." Kaia squealed, more excited than even Samantha who just felt it was an obligation.
A black Rolls Royce soon drove to the front of the apartment building. It looked weird in the surroundings but Darian didn't care one bit. He leaned in the back of the seat, looking at his phone as he sent her a message.
The driver was silent as he looked straight ahead. It was shocking to even him that Darian Zephyr will come to a surrounding such as this. He didn't know what it was about but he just received the order to search for this building.
Darian stepped out of the car, his hands placed in his pockets as he leaned against the car, his foot tapping against the floor as he looked towards the entrance. His gaze soon raised to see her step out of the building.
He stood there for a brief second, stunned. She looked so pretty, he knew everything she had seen her in never did justice to her beauty as much as this did. She held the mask in her hand, alongside a small violet bag. Her gaze soon met with his. He approached her slowly, stretching out his hand.
"You look beautiful." He didn't know when he blurted it out.
Samantha didn't know why she suddenly felt a rush of butterflies in her stomach. This wasn't the first time she was being complimented but this felt so different and pure that it made her stomach flip. "Thanks." She mumbled, hesitantly taking his hand.
He led her into the car. As she sat in, even the interior was enough to take her away. Never in her wildest dream would she have imagined that she would be sitting in a car like this but now she was here.
"To the venue." Darian said to the driver who just nodded as he drove off.
The drive to the party was silence. Darian just stayed on his phone while Samantha looked out the window. She was nervous and wanted to speak about anything but they weren't cold enough and she wasn't even expecting any closeness to begin with so she didn't try starting a conversation.
"Whatever they ask you during the event, don't respond to them and just smile." Darian finally said to her, closing his Ipad. "They will always try to find something to use against you so
