Chapter 66 - Dark Protectorate: Archmages' Supreme Test of Magic

Governor Rothr'aghi was an aristocratic goblin who had the full confidence of the queen. Although he had huge scars above his skull showing his flesh, he was a respectable, neat and clean man. Is it racist to say that he was different from his peers who were true savages who raped and devoured others?

The queen had known him on the battlefields of a world of all dangers in the southern hemisphere: Austra. He and his people were slave-soldiers for large corporations employing Faerie poachers. Having discovered this through the electric waves, on her own initiative, she freed them and killed all the humans who had enslaved these races and peoples, including humans. She had discovered the intelligence and the administrative faculties of this goblin and having no one left to rely on because of yet another Feeric attack, she offered him to be the governor of the Protectorate in exchange for a place for him and his family, and almost anyone else who wanted to come and live in Sylvania.

From now on, he was her henchman, she had nothing to reproach him with, of course he had his faults, but when it came to the management of the Protectorate, its security, the cleanliness, the management of the different populations that resided there, the living conditions that were unique to all of them... there was no denying that Governor Rothr'aghi was on the ball.

- What a joy to see you again, Queen Audisélia.

- Also, legate Rothr'aghi Grekip.

- You still haven't decided what name to choose?" laughed the goblin.

- I told you I wouldn't bother with it anymore. I offered you "Protector", but you flatly refused.

- And I'll tell you the same thing I told you last time: "The real protector of this place is you. Without you, we would be nothing, especially me. If not, I imagine that this is not a simple courtesy visit?

- Is that a reproach?" asked the queen, curious.

- No, not at all, the goblin defended himself, just that I am curious.

- If it had been I would have understood it, it is true that I do not visit you often.

- But with your queenly schedule, it must be hard to get time off.

- If you only knew," Audiselia rolled her eyes, "but you're not wrong. If I am here today, it is to perfect my magic with the archmages since I will soon lose my place as queen.

- It is true that in the kingdom the fights for your succession are taking place, remembered the governor, speaking about it, you have received the delegation of the prince Lucello?

- A delegation? What delegation?

- That of the prince, of course. A prince with a pallid complexion, tall, small, he is hu...

- I'm sorry to interrupt you," said the queen, "but I don't know anything about it. I'm not saying that this so-called prince is not with us, I even think I've crossed paths with one of our princesses, but I haven't received any official delegation.

The queen's neural network went into overdrive to think about this news, what could it mean?

Could it be the army outside the kingdom? thought the queen, why didn't we receive any information about this? Especially since this army looked rather belligerent towards us. Would Rothr'aghi have betrayed me? No, that wouldn't make any sense because he asked me if I had received it, if he wanted to prepare a rebellion, he wouldn't have told me. Was I arrogant to leave this armed force alone? What is happening now?

Her thought, contrary to other living beings, had not lasted 0.066 seconds but less than 0.0000054 seconds thanks to the use of her genetic attribute which increased her speed of reflection, which allowed her not to cut the conversation and to point out that the words of her interlocutor made her raise doubts about what was happening in her kingdom. Of course, her genetic attribute being like a kind of muscle, she used this aptitude only in case of real utility, already that she used her genetic attribute and her magic much more than the other living beings by using it continuously.

- Strange. Well, as long as Prince Lucello is in your home and fulfills the duty for which he was invited, I'm fine with anything.

- I think he lost," she informed him with a deadpan smile.

- Nothing surprising, despaired the legate, he has always been a coward, pretentious, full of himself, manipulative, but above all weak... However, when he left, he had seemed..., how could I say... "different". A particular aura surrounded him. I had thought that this would have augured a change in him but it seems to me that I had the wrong idea.

- It seems that you have attached yourself to him, the queen titillated him.

- One can say that, sighed the goblin, but I must deplore the love of the flesh of this young man...

- Each one has its faults, I guess. Mine seems to have a shell that pretends to open but its taciturnity has not moved.

- Do you have a son?

- You could say that," the queen chuckled sadly as she stretched.

Would she succeed in opening him completely to her? Perhaps he has already done so and it is only his nature? A nature that will inevitably lead him to his loss because of this absurd quest.

What charge have you entrusted to me there, Elena? moaned the queen in thought.

- But we should discuss it later, said Audisélia, for now, I want you to take me to the Archmages.

- So you want to become one?

- Yes, I have to for my own sake.

- I am not going to ask you any more questions because it is not my business, but try not to get intoxicated by the power, the legate advised him.

- You already know what I am from your predecessor, so I have no interest in this happening, replied the queen, straightening up, but thank you for your kindness.

- It's nothing. I will call my assistant who will take you to the rabbits and chickens.

The legate tinkled a bell on his desk and a skeleton arrived for a few seconds with a load of paper on his arms. He wore a tuxedo with a long tie attached to his spine, he wore four small horns on his skull and his eye sockets glowed with a violet light.

- This is my assistant Hyakin Schmidt, who will replace me when I retire.

Astonished by this news, the queen turned to the legate and asked him why such a decision.

- I only owe you the fact of being alive and if you leave I will think of discharging my task. I have never had the ambition to lead a whole city but you have done me the honor of paying my debt in a more than honorable task, but I cannot lie to you that it is not easy and that I would like to rest.

- "Heavy is the head that wears the crown" as a friend used to say.... I'm not going to lie to you that I don't understand and you have a good job, so take your well deserved retirement.

The queen turned to the skeleton.

- So it is you that my successor will have to address in the future.

- That's right," said Hyakin Schmidt, "I promise to do my best to live up to the expectations of our citizens.

- You speak well, complimented the queen.

- He is young, upright, skillful and full of vigor, a man in whom I have every confidence. Put his documents on my table, Hyakin and take the queen to the overturned tower.

- Okay.

Audisélia followed the young skeleton full of vigor to the center of the city. Having abandoned her cloak of illusion, all the eyes of the inhabitants were on her, full of whispers, having not spread her electromagnetic waves throughout the city and could not hear them clearly. However, a young night elf girl came towards her, and when she saw her, Audisélia saw Helmir a little older in her, which made her smile. The little girl gave her a juicy apple as a gift, the queen gladly accepted it and the little night elf asked her if she was indeed the queen of Sylvania, their protector.

- Can't you see the glittering crown on my forehead," chuckled the queen with dignity, putting her hand in front of her mouth.

She grabbed it and put it on her shoulder.

- I am indeed the queen of Sylvania, she answered him while enjoying her offered apple.

Then a crowd of people came out of their houses and holes, they shouted for joy and praised their protector, applauding her and thanking her for all the benefits she brought them. It was not uncommon for her to be chanted as Queen of Sylvania and Herald of the Gods, but it was good to hear real ones without any ulterior motives suggesting that a black sheep was among the other sheep, or even a big bad wolf.

- You know, Queen of Sylvania, the inhabitants of the Protectorate appreciate you very much, you have a special place in their hearts.

Audisélia said nothing, she only nodded her head in approval. Despite all the apparent joy, she sensed something strange about the inhabitants, but she couldn't distinguish what. And although she used her genetic attribute to distinguish dangerous thoughts, she didn't perceive any threat in them, but that bad feeling hadn't left her. The look of the inhabitants played in her apprehension, but she couldn't afford to judge them on their appearances, she wasn't a human! Especially with their warm smiles and their faces which were embellished with her passage. However, she noticed the lack of guards in the protectorate, it was unusual but she thought about the rounds they were doing around to watch for dangerous monsters, maybe they had seen some and had gone to take care of them?

Then, almost at the fountain of the Archemy King, she put the child on the ground and offered him her crystal necklace.

- As payment for your apple.

- Wow! Thank you madam queen.

- It's nothing. Have a nice day, kid.

The queen joined Hyakin Schmidt in front of the fountain, the latter wrote a purple rune in the water of the fountain and the water source opened up revealing stairs leading to the bowels of the earth, a huge crevice where it seemed as if the stairs were floating in the middle of nothing. The water that escaped from the fountain fell in the middle of nothing, you could not hear it land or reach any ground.

- This is where we part ways, Regent of Sylvania.

- Thank you for accompanying me, Hyakin Schmidt.

- You're welcome. I will let your men know that you have arrived at your destination. This is a challenging quest.

- I expect no less from the archmages who have denied most of the princesses and queens of Sylvania access to magical supremacy.

- Good luck, in any case.

- Thank you," she said, winking at him.

And she rushed up the stairs with the fountain behind her, which closed.

- Elemental flames, guide my steps through the gloom, the darkness and the obscurity. Primordial magic of the flames: will-o'-the-wisp.

A small flame appeared in front of her and illuminated the steps passing under her steps. From left to right, there was nothing. Her footsteps echoed through the emptiness of this place and despite the light of her flame, she could not make out any outline of this cave... if it was indeed a cave.

Suddenly images appeared in the middle of nowhere, like holo-panels, Audisélia turned towards them and saw a face that was not totally unknown to her.

- My... Marrynelia! Queen Marrynélia.

Her limbs tightened at the mere sight of this woman, shocks went up her spine and she gritted her teeth being both scared and enraged to see her.

However, the fairy who was presented to her did not seem to be the woman she had in her memories, she looked like the Feline but her cheerful smile and this joy of living was different from what she remembered, from what she had read in the history books and what Torn had told her.

She unclenched her fists, relaxed and sighed.

- Why did you have to be like that?" she muttered. "And now I'm following your path...

- Do you recognize her?" intervened a lively voice out of nowhere.

- Right?

By reflex, Audisélia sent her electromagnetic waves over a large area to locate the source of this voice and created two magic circles at the end of her hands in anticipation of any attack.

- Interesting... Your magic has not been extinguished in this place, said the male voice, you seem to be an unusual person, twenty-sixth queen of Sylvania.

- Show yourself as you seem to know me.

- Don't be on the lookout so much Rosalina, we don't want to hurt you. Nevertheless, we are not your allies. The test you are about to face to determine your ability to pass the threshold of supreme magic will be physically, mentally and psychologically demanding. Let's hope you are prepared for it.

At the end of his words, the stairs ended and the queen arrived on solid ground, she gently put a foot to see if it was not a magical illusion and she would fall into the void - she would fly, however, better safe than sorry. Fortunately, they hadn't tricked her: the ground was real.

She put both feet down and walked straight ahead leaving her electromagnetic field around her, she cleared the circles of power but stay on the lookout. Only fools could walk confidently in the darkness.

In spite of the ambient darkness, this dusty ground, this cavity where the sound of her steps resounded, the surrounding humidity which attracted the electricity of the field and the small light resulting from the spell of the queen thrown earlier... she did not feel any fear. Not that she felt superior to these archmages, she had come across very very few of them during all her expeditions and warlike campaigns, they were mostly powerful mages but still not up to the skills of the queen of Sylvania - at the same time she was cheating with her genetic attribute grafted to her chest -, but this lack of fear came from her lack of attachment to life itself.

Especially his own.

At a certain point of her journey, she crossed the path of a crystal ball floating in the air, she turned around to better observe it and passed a hand underneath to identify any pole that held it in the air... after all these experiences, she concluded that she was enchanted.

- Grab the crystal sphere, multiple voices ordered him.

Audisélia brought her hands close to the spherical object and held it tightly, the enchantment disappeared and she felt its full weight. This thing wasn't just a crystal ball, it was heavier than a bowling ball, she wasn't even sure if giant children could carry it in a group.

- First step of the Test to the Supreme Magic: illuminate this ball with your magic of choice in the elementary class.

Of course his magic of choice was lightning magic as we have seen since the beginning of this story, but magic of choice is not to be confused with magic of status. Many healers know healing spells but that doesn't mean that these spells are innate to them, it's by learning primordial magic that people know what magic would reveal itself to them.

Depending on the school, students either learned primordial magic to learn about their preferred magics, or they learned simple magic to learn how to recite spells, carve runes, or draw magic circles.

The queen sent out small bolts of lightning from the palms of her hands to connect to the inside of the crystal ball, and the ball lit up with a bright blue light before suddenly going out and slipping from the queen's hands. She felt a strange shiver run through her hands and suddenly her lightning disappeared. She tried to make them flash again but nothing came out of her hands. She could still maintain her electric field or make magic circles, but she was unable to do the bare minimum: she had lost her ability to practice primordial magic.

- First step successful, voices said, move on to the second step.

The queen seemed helpless in the face of this unexpected situation. If she continued this ordeal, she would find herself at the mercy of these people she had only heard about through hearsay. It wasn't entirely accurate, but archmages were truly unusual people to come across.

She should not let herself be frightened by these people and their trials, she had come with the goal of raising her magical class to the highest rank and she should not back down from her fears that were starting to rise up inside her.

"Fears? When in her life had she ever been afraid? She could fear for others, but she had never feared for herself, so where did this emotion come from?

She had to block out these thoughts that were beginning to bring up memories that she had no desire to bring to the surface.

Regaining control of her emotions, Audisélia continued her quest for power down the long rocky corridor, then she arrived in a large room where vertical poles wound with large copper wires with iron balls at each end before the two bars joined at a single point. She had in front of her a complete electrical circuit with two crystal balls similar to the one that had taken her primordial magic.

- Second step of the Test to Supreme Magic: Recite a spell, write a rune, or draw a circle of magic to operate the electrical mechanism to open the door.

- Like I need to perform a spell to make an electrical spell work.

She charges her hands with electricity, then puts her hands on these crystal balls, but nothing happens. She even felt some discomfort, she quickly withdrew her hands. That chill she had felt earlier came back, but in a different way, it numbed her arms and made her chest hurt, around the core that was implanted in her at birth.

- Please obey the condition for the completion of this step, the voices blamed her.

- Damn it!

She drew a simple magic circle over the two crystal balls and let the electrical energy flow into them. She felt the magical energy flow into the copper wires, but at one point it was not enough to reach the second balls leading to the second bars. Her spell was not emitting enough electrical power to open the door.

The queen looked at the two four bars, sighed and carried the two beams with crystal balls on top of them to the other two huge balls. And cast the same spell again, this time inscribing a rune so that the electric magic energy would flow to the door and she would break the back metal bars so that there would be no loss.

As expected, her experiment was a success, her success was announced and the door opened. Once again, she could no longer use simple magic as with primordial magic.

In a kind of amphitheater, a meeting where all the archmages were gathered, a projection of the queen's journey on a wall with a projecting orb was observed.

One of the archmages asked the others:

- Did she have the right to do that?

- It's late for the question, Sefonia," said another archmage named Stapkel, "we have already allowed her to continue with the test.

- And being resourceful is not a bad thing. And wasn't the purpose of this test to validate that?" asked another archmage named Vitenzel.

- She still hijacked the purpose of the test!" revolted Tyzeni, acting as if she had to solve a physics diagram.

- Calm your heart, it was only an electric circuit, mocked Ilérion.

The leader among them tapped the table and demanded silence.

- I've asked you only one question, and if all of us don't mind, then let her continue her ordeal.

Everyone fell silent and resumed their viewing of the fairy queen's journey.

Audiselia walked through this labyrinthine maze always on her guard, never knowing when some threat might appear and attack her - she spoke as if she had once lived in a large metropolis and walked through the dark alleys late at night after leaving a nightclub or her job. That said, she had experienced this kind of situation before, when she was not yet Queen Audiselia, or just Audiselia Vanguard II.

She arrived at a large space where there was a long electric pylon and in front of it, on the ground, another of her crystal balls. She observed the spherical room and saw no trap.

- Third step of the Supreme Magic Test: charge the iron pylon with all your strength! demanded the voices.

She set about her task and performed the same process as in the previous room at the complex level, but as with the previous room, the charge was not sufficient, it did not even reach one tenth of the iron tower. She then amplified the power of her spell by reciting a spell, but this only increased the level of the electrical charge by two percent.

- This time, she won't be able to cheat!" rejoices Tyzeni.

Ilérion rolled his eyes at the old man's distressing joy, then returned his gaze to the fairy's ordeal.

Show us that you are worthy of your predecessor, Rosalienélia Grave.

Audisélia rubbed her chin and cheeks hard as she quickly realized that simply layering the different magical methods would not be enough to continue the ordeal. She rubbed her eyes as she contemplated the difficult ordeal that lay ahead. She reached out to the entrance of the cave and performed the spell:

- Mother of the Earth, of the Sands and of the Mud, grant me your power and build an unshakeable rampart: Wall of the Hereditary Tortures!

A rampart filled with spades covered the entrance to the hallway from which she had come. It seemed like too much to block the entrance to the room, but she could only use complex magic spells and overhead. This was followed by a spell creating a giant sun above her head to light her way. The downside was that it burned the air in the room and would soon suffocate her, but at least she could light up, I suppose.

Audisélia broke off a piece of the wall of the room in a fist and took out a huge stick that she cut with a wind spell, which shortened her breathing time even more. Then with her stone stick she wrote on the ground a series of magic formulas incomprehensible to the common mortal. It was a mixture of mathematics and magic runes, but at a level that one learns in the last year of school when one's magic is at its best.

- What is she doing?" asked a new archmage named Yer-Gagquel, "Hasn't she heard that she uses complex magic?

- You are mistaken, intervened Ilérion, you forget that if the inscriptions do not shine, the formula is not effective. It must undoubtedly calculate at a higher level to be able to then reduce the formula to a complex level.

- It is ingenious, but very perilous... It is generally advised to do this by other crossing, doing it this way may be much faster but if you make a mistake of a rune, a number, a magic character, the formula fails and it is difficult if you are not used to the exercise to be able to spot the mistake. And in the situation in which she has put herself, she has no right to make a mistake.

- Hence the fact that she is blocked the entrance, concludes Rztak, so that no wind comes to erase her formulas. So she is not a brainless brute as Tyzeni wants to believe.

- I don't allow you to read my mind!

He is always angry or...

More importantly the queen.

Sweat on her forehead, holding her breath as much as possible to save the air in the room, she had torn the bottom of her dress so that it would not interfere with her writing her formula. She flew to the top of the pylon and near her artificial sun and calculated her height at a glance, she knew perfectly well the size of her arms so she used them to scale by breaking through the stone wall again and creating sticks the size of her arm, which again reduced her breathing time, and lined them up from top to bottom to get the closest size to the pylon. She added the new data to her formula and finished filling the pylon with electrical energy without overloading it. The hard part was ahead as she had to reduce her calculation to a complex level.

She had the idea of having it reduced to a simple level which would allow for the least amount of error during the reduction process as too much power is released and replaced with smaller ones without conversion but making it allow for a greater reduction instead of looking for a complex equivalent and they are compatible. However, the queen's sticks had absorbed far too much air to give her time to do this, she was already on the edge at the moment.

Time was running out and she only had a few minutes before she would run out of air. She executed the whole process without using her genetic attribute otherwise she would exhaust her body too much, depending on the distance of the exit, she would have to use it.

Then suddenly she remembered something important she had forgotten to think about: the time it takes to execute the spell. Of course, a magic incantation takes a few seconds for the most experienced, but with a magic formula, it takes minutes and even worse because it was the first time she wrote such a long formula. Her facilities were playing a trick on her.

Was she really going to die in this room? Asphyxiated by her own stupidity? No. That was not going to happen because she was the Queen of Sylviana, the Abominable Fairy of Lightning Destruction, the Worst Creation that Faiyera Terra has ever known, but mostly because there were her people waiting for her, men and women, most of whom were still children, who were counting on her. It was for all these reasons that she did not have to die here and now. Gritting her teeth and arriving in time, she continued her calculations until she arrived at a magic formula worthy of the name.

- If it doesn't pass, I'm really cooked.

She drew the runes in her magic circle by combining them with all the formulas, the magic circle extended in several magic circles, the electric energy joined and went in the direction of the crystal ball, she amplified the power of her spell so that all agrees according to her calculations. The physical effort she had to make to realize such an exercise was really trying for her with this lack of oxygen, fairies were similar to plants, as soon as she lacked something, she weakened quickly, fortunately for Audisélia, she is not part of these races of fairies who need the sun to survive. Once the spell was stabilized, she recited the spell so that her incantation would reach its full power.

- Eclina, goddess of lightning and war, offer me, your herald, your divine power: Celestial Overload!

She overloaded the iron bar until it reached the maximum bar to complete this penultimate step. Her vision blurred, her hands trembled, her lips twitched... She was as focused as possible. And suddenly, the final bar was reached, she received the long awaited announcement:

- Stage 3 completed. Fly to the final stage of your event.

The queen disappeared with a wave of her hand and flew to the next stage of the ordeal, propelling herself with all her strength using her genetic attribute, burning the last few seconds of air she had in her lungs and managing to land on the surface of the room of the last stage. The hole closed behind her and she was able to recover her breath. Gasping like a drowning man, she could feel her skin tugging at her - fairies breathe through their skin unlike other mammals, yet clothes don't really bother them. Yes, their noses are only decorative, although they have nostrils like other land mammals and other creatures.

- Get up, queen of Sylvania! ordered the voice that was transmitted to her, the last test is going to be imminent.

- Not... one... moment... of respite..., said the queen, breathless.

- You would have stayed downstairs, you could have caught your breath. But I guess that's what being a woman of action is all about," she scoffed, "Even so, you'll be glad to know that the last test is more up your alley.

A storm of sand was created in the middle of the room, two rocks emerged from the ground and cut themselves to form a golem in the likeness of a knight. The queen, still on the ground, jumped up and faced this opponent.

- Although it's within my capabilities, I'm not thrilled about it," she grumbled loudly.

- Last step of the Supreme Magic Test: Using the knowledge you've gained throughout your life and the knowledge you've gained in the intermediate steps, slay this monster.

The final evaluation to finally obtain the supreme magic class is at hand. She couldn't fail against this pile of stone. She already had tricks on Triface when he was still alive by turning him into glass with a lightning bolt.

And it was a good thing that we mentioned her name because, as with him, she generated a cumulonimbus charged with enough electricity to reproduce the attack that she sent to the Hero during their first meeting:

- Release of the seventh seal of lightning: Eclina's lightning!

And a column of lightning fell, in the same way as on the Hero, on the stone creature, but unlike the Hero and Triface, it had no effect on the stone knight who remained unmoved after suffering the attack of the queen.

How stupid I am! insulted the queen, Triface was sand not stone, swinging lightning at everything.

During his internal inspection, the knight began to move and lunge towards the queen preparing to slice her in half, then threw his sword against the queen, Audiselia easily dodged it by flying away and doing a back somersault and landing on the edge of his blade. Maybe the fact that she was perceived as a monster, that she was used as such, was annoying her, but it is undeniable that in battle, she was an invincible and undefeated beast, and her electric look, did not demonstrate the contrary.

The rock knight raised his heavy sword, letting the fairy slide to his helmet, she created her magic circles without even drawing them and threw various electric blows, then flew above her opponent and went around the golem, trying to detect the slightest weak point but did not perceive any. It would be simple for her to destroy it with her bare hands, however she was aware that this was not expected of her, she had to act in a much more meticulous and intelligent way. The pastel-haired fairy had to remember the statement that was announced to her: "using your knowledge acquired throughout your life and those acquired during the intermediate stages, slay this monster. While twirling and spinning around this big pile of stone, she perceived the beginning of an answer in the fact that it was not specified this time that she had to use her magic of choice to pass this test, it probably meant that she could use other magic than lightning. Sure, not her genetic attribute but it's not like it was her only asset.

Audisélia went back down on the ground, a little far from the knight-golem, she created a magic halo with her index and middle fingers by joining them before moving them away and sticking them to her knees.

- Giants, Titans, Colossi... Dwarfs, Liliputians, Fairies... You who touch the heavens with your size, you who are closest to the earth, define my size according to my desires: Shaking of the Dimensions!

Audisélia passed through the magical halo of transparent light and was then illuminated with a bright light, her body metamorphosed becoming larger and larger until it reached the size of the stone knight, the light disappeared in luminescent petals revealing the new size of the queen-fairy. She cracked and saw her magic circles spring up again, but placed the second one inside her elbow, then cast two spells simultaneously that sent lightning shooting out from everywhere on her arm:

- Reveal yourself to me, powerful Eclina and form in the palm of your hand the longed-for weapon to defeat my enemies: Sword of the Lightning War. You, hero of ancient times, bring peace and serenity to me by offering me your most powerful weapon: Sword of the Legendary Hero Avan.

Two gigantic swords came out of the circle facing the palm of the queen's hand and she caught them in midair and stood guard.

- Creature of rock, prepare to suffer the wrath of my blades and their dance.

Audisélia mastered, like her knight in shining armor, the double sword dance as taught to them by Sawyer's late father, and she was far from bad at it.

In the amphitheater, the archmages could not believe their eyes. They had not detected such potential in her, who would have believed that she had already reached the boundaries of supreme magic. The head of the archmages was delighted to have such a being among them, she was indeed her mother's daughter, an anomaly among ordinary mortals.

Even though she said she was going to use the art of the double sword dance, the space was too small but also her size was way too big to do it, nevertheless she knew what she was doing, her spell was not just to make her bigger. If she wanted to, she could shrink herself but she will keep the same strength as when she was big and also the objects she carries until the spell is over. It works the other way around, but it's not useful offensively but mostly in transport - this spell would have been useful to the Runners when I asked them to bring me a box of bandages and other medical items instead of taking third to get it to me!

The two of them rushed into battle and each clash between the swords projected lightning throughout the fighting room, cracking and splintering the adjacent walls, but nothing helped, the rock soldier remained intact. Then the queen regained her height, still under the influence of her spell. She was able to practice the art of the double sword dance much more freely and with much more ease, attacking the golem with ultra incisive blows, but even with all her strength, the golem remained unscathed. However, the more she attacked her stone opponent, the more she understood some things about her opponent: she felt that with each of her attacks, the golem was not totally invincible, some parts of its body were weaker than others, but at the speed she was going, she didn't take the time to locate its places. So she flew around the creature until she detected cracks she had created on the artificial knight, she had managed to crack the joints of the summoned monster.

So we can go that far with mastered magic? These archmages have a particularly strong sense of detail, and I imagine that this is not insignificant.

Then Audisélia struck in each joint of the armor of the monster in a precise way, repeated and slashing all the joints of the armor of the knight leaving exposed his joints and his helmet which had in their center and in the place of his eyes, balls of crystal. She suspected where the archmages of the Dark Protectorate were going with this new test, she was going to send lightning bolts on the crystal spheres but he took her by surprise by spitting a fireball that tore the arm of the queen.

- What? Isn't the knight supposed to do that?" cried Archmage Faztezia, creator of the stone creature.

- I'm the one who changed your spell," said the chief archmage, "do you think the queen of the fairy-fighters can be overrated when the world knows her name. She is not her finest creation for nothing.

This man had a good nose for it since he was right to suspect that the queen had far more resources than she was letting on.

Audiselia took the blood dripping from her broken arm and drew strengthening runes on her forearm and shoulder, these lit up and disappeared, and as if by magic, the queen's arm reappeared accompanied by a second. Both appeared much larger and more muscular than the original.

- If you think you can kill me with such simple projectiles...

It flew around the room and drew a huge magic circle above the rock monster that was trying to slice it in half or hit it with one of its fiery projectiles that it was spitting out. The circle lit up with various inscriptions that were transcribed within it. The queen created more magic circles to touch the crystal balls, but it had no effect.

At this stage of magic, she couldn't lack power so it had to be something else. It was not the power that he lacked but the timing of his attacks. He had done well to create this huge circle of magic. She placed the lightning circles in front of each crystal ball and began to cast one of her third most powerful lightning spells. A huge black cloud of lightning began to form just below the magic circle and it roared loudly, the storm that was about to fall on the creature would be devastating, the torches of luxinite began to flicker because of the magical disturbance created by the queen. Her body was electrified, her eyes lit up with a bright blue sparkle, her pupils shone with a bright yellow.

- Goddess of lightning from the pantheon of Yuliacina, Eclina, you who unleash death and desolation on all battlefields, grant your omnipotence to bring down your wrath on my adversaries: Ravages of the Heavens of Lotenina!

A huge bolt of lightning came out of the cloud but the bolt split into several bolts, which were led to the magic incantation circles that the queen had placed in front of the crystal balls. Then the bolts of lightning took the shape and power of the initial bolt and struck the joints of the stone giant and destroyed the crystal balls. The knight collapsed on himself and was reduced to ashes.

Trumpets sounded and played music in honor of the victory of Queen Audiselia and her victory was announced.

- Last step of the Supreme Magic Test: Queen Rosalina Grave, you have been accepted to meet the archmages of the Dark Protectorate.

A new magic circle with a shimmering color appeared in the center of the room, the fairy recognized the teleportation circle, it was the same kind of circle that Sab'ies used to transport them - not since the spy agents, the guards and the Defense had failed to find him and now, Sawyer had to be relied on.

She shook her two arms so that they became one and went to the center of the magic circle, then was teleported into the amphitheater where the archmages were. She looked around and must have counted a hundred archmages, all dressed in purple and black capes, the group had the particularity of being composed mostly of women but mostly of lapisdera, a race of rabbits with a human appearance that had as a feature the nose of rabbits, their whiskers, their legs and their large ears and... the hens..., large winged creatures with the appearance of harpies, with hair composed of feathers whose color varied according to the hens, with large bird legs and wings feathered on the back - they had managed to evolve to be able to generate arms and not only wings with which they had difficulty holding a pen. This is what the Dark Protectorate's archmagus assembly looks like.

Goblins charged at the queen and attached strange penumbra handcuffs to her before returning to the darkness with the queen's two summoned swords.

- What was that?" said the queen.

- Nothing, replied the chief of the archmages, an assurance that everything will be fine, you can see that the handcuffs are not attached to each other.

Yet the queen felt a strange pressure on her chest, but she put this down to her great use of magic power and that just a few minutes ago she was on the verge of suffocation.

- Let's get to the presentation!

A light illuminated a table composed of three hens and two lapisdere and in the background, distal to the table, there was a seat on a small platform where the chief of the archmages resided, a being that seemed to resemble as much a man as a woman, with long blond hair, full lips and a flamboyant look. She watched the queen with great curiosity, her chin resting on the back of her hand, a smile on her face.

- I introduce myself: Ferastekli Lucie, the Great Witch of Nosra Belii. For the pronouns of designation, you are as good, you seem. However, here I am referred to as a man, so do the same so as not to disturb the calm environment of this place.

Seeing her, the queen felt a certain uneasiness. Even probing her, she couldn't tell if she was a reliable person or not, a powerful person or not. Her fists instinctively clenched ready to charge.

- You are the first one to react like this to my sight, Rosalie, noted Lucie, you are quite different from all those we could receive here, she amused, but have we go further, introduce yourself to us for the unfortunate ones who would not know you, my dear queen.

- You have a lot of nerve to call me by name knowing my status, said the queen with a little nervousness, but before I introduce myself, you call me Rosalina since a while, so I would like to know how you expect me to introduce myself to you? As the queen of Sylvania, protector of the Protectorate, the Abominable Weapon of the Kingdom of the Fairies, mother of the son of my best friend...

She had to place this one, I almost laugh!

- ... or daughter of the Feline, Marrynélia Grave?

- Well...

- Do you know my age to tell you that I am her daughter? Is it because my resemblance to her is visible to you despite the illusion spell? Or do you have information that I don't have?

- How old are you to talk like that?" revolted Archmage Tyzeni, "Do you think...

- Seventy-six years! cut it the queen Audisélia, I have seventy-six years! Do I look like I'm over five hundred years old? It is impossible that I have such an advanced age since you know that I am subjected like the other inhabitants to the hazardous age limitation and the morpho-change of the fairy-fighters that you put on our kingdom during the reign of the Third King-Fighter on his request. So stop thinking that I am the daughter of the Fairy Marry Grave, I am the daughter of Torn Vanguard.

A great silence reigned in the room, followed by deafening murmurs provoked by the questions of the archmages. Lucie was amused by the dark look the queen was giving her, which made her smile bigger. She clapped her hands and sat up straight, holding her hand on her armrests.

- A look-alike, huh?

- A look-alike is only a look-alike," the queen retorted.

- Very well. Then, on behalf of all of us, I apologize for the unfortunate mistake and assumption we may have made about you, twenty-sixth queen of Sylvania.

- I thank you for that.

- It's a good thing we put you in handcuffs or I don't know what kind of shock you could have sent us with your non-magical electric shocks coming out of your body.

- Right?

She had been feeling a weight in her chest for some time, but she thought it was due to the alternation of magics of different classes that she had been doing at close intervals, but with the remark of the chief archmage, she understood that the Great Witch of Nosra Belii had done something to her. She tried to use her genetic attribute but it had no effect, it was blocked, inhibited.

- Safety measure, Lucie notified him, we know of your legendary anger. Although we are powerful archmages, it would still be risky to fight you if you are unrestrained. Especially if you are a Talorich.

- A what?

- An ancient race that lived in the Fairy dimension before, she explained to him, if one were to call the Solar Children the most powerful race in the universe, imagine what one would have to say when one of their representatives exterminated an entire Solar Child planet.

- Sorry to disappoint you, although I am strong, I am a purebred fairy from Java-Aleim.

- Oh really? exclaimed the chief before bursting out laughing, you are to die laughing Rosalie.

- Didn't I tell you not to call me that?

- It's true, I'm sorry, my memory fails me in front of the fabulator. But you are young, it is normal that you have some small complexes.

Audisélia wanted to answer but Lucie stopped her by raising her hand and regaining her seriousness. She stood up and jumped to a high row of archmages, a light shone on her and Audisélia could see the clown costume worn by the man with golden hair and magenta eyes.

Audiselia was said to be eccentric but what she saw in front of her twirling, dancing gracefully and jumping around was beyond her.

Lucie walked to a wooden bar and leaned against it.

- Nevertheless, we will not dwell on this argument which will lead nowhere. Before we proceed with your training in supreme magic, Lady Audiselia, tell us the reason for your coming to these nightmare lands. I don't imagine that you have come as your predecessor did to find out," said Lucie.

- With the help of your knowledge and Pluto...

No, that was not how she was supposed to put it. She was Audiselia II Vanguard, the twenty-sixth queen of Sylvania, the living weapon of Sylvania, the champion of the forbidden tournament of Madrianapura.

She blew out her nose, assumed a pose of a valiant princely warrior and pointed to her chest with her thumb.

- I need to ascend to the supreme and even ancestral magic to exterminate Nemesis Prime and Proto-Nemesis.

This was the way Queen Audiselia had to show her determination, which did not fail to charm her interlocutor and to make the whole audience laugh.
