"Anytime soon," Fiona responded, while sitting upright on the bed to give Felix more space to settle down.
"I'll pick you up tomorrow then," He mentioned and stood up from the bed. "Get some rest."He said as he pulled the covers over her body.
She watched him with a smile on her face as he left the room. As soon as she left, a thought appeared in her mind. It was her wolf who hadn't spoken in a long while.
"Ten million dollars? Why would any man waste such an amount of money? What are his motives?" Her wolf, Rue said as she processed the weight of Felix's offer.
"Just shut up." Fiona responded as she rolled her eyes at Rue. "You should be happy that he saved us." Fiona said to her wolf inwardly.
Rue didn't mention anything else. It was obvious that the doctor's medication had started working and her wolf was getting stronger.
Ashley walked inside the room, holding a tray of food in her hand.
"What are you doing here?" Fiona questioned her before she could drop the food on the table.
"I heard what happened." Ashley said as she dropped the food on the table. "You're feeling weak, so I brought food for you."
"Take it away. Wasn't I feeling weak the day that you betrayed me?" Fiona raised her voice in anger. "And now you walk in here with food, thinking I can trust you."
"I can taste the food if you think it's poisoned."
"You visited me in prison, yet still stood by Ella's side because she's your cousin." Fiona's eyes were getting teary as she spoke. The memories of the time she spent with Ashley flashed before her. But all the good times were gone. Ashley looked at her face that day and said hurtful words against her. Even if a witch had prophesied that anyone would betray her, Fiona would have counted her best friend out of it.
"My family pressured me to pick Ella's side. I couldn't do anything." Ashley said as she knelt in front of Fiona, pleading for her to accept the apology.
Fiona looked at her best friend who had her knees to the ground. She was unsure if Ashley's actions were genuine. Even if she was doing her family's bidding, she could have done it without ridiculing her that day.
"I can't forgive you. Just leave." Fiona sniffed in the tears as she struggled to stop crying.
"But how are you sure of Felix? What if his intentions are not genuine?" Ashley asked her. "Staying with him could be worse than living in our pack."
Fiona turned her face away from Ashley and stared into empty space. Ashley's statements weren't foreign. It was the same thing that her wolf had told her.
"At least let me follow you, in case you need any help." Ashley suggested as she looked at her with concern.
"You'll leave your job and follow me?" Fiona scoffed as she found it hard to believe Ashley's true intentions.
"If it's the only way I can make it up to you, then I'd do it." Ashley assured her. "It's dangerous for you to go to a strange land alone."
Fiona said nothing. She had no problem with Ashley following her, afterall Ashley would be the one burdening herself. Even with her apology, Fiona doubted if she could still forgive so easily.
"Bring the food." She said to Ashley and Ashley brought the tray towards her.
"Is this a yes? Can I follow you?"
"Maybe," Fiona mumbled as she sipped the soup that Ashley had brought for her. Before she started eating it, Ashley had taken a spoon of the food to prove to her that it wasn't contaminated.
"I'll love some privacy." Fionaa informed Ashley who had been watching her as she ate.
"Alright," Ashley responded and walked out of the room.
Fiona finished the food and set the empty plates aside before sitting on the bed and pondering on what Ashley had said. Could Felix actually have ulterior motives?
Her body still stinked from lying in the dungeon, and part of her clothes were torn. She spread clean clothes on the bed that she'd wear and stepped into the bathroom.
The cold water from the shower splashed over her alabaster skin, washing off the dirt and grime. She felt refreshed as she stepped out of the bathroom, wrapped in a towel and water dripping from her hair.
She heard a sound at the door and looked towards it. The door knob twisted like someone was trying to get inside.
"Who is there?" She asked as the knob twisted again. "Ashley is that you?" The door was locked and it seemed like Ashley was having difficulty getting inside.
Fiona put on her dress and headed to unlock the door. Instead of Ashley, someone she least expected stood at the door, grinning at her.
She tried to shut the door in his face, but his strong hands held the door. He pushed her hands away, causing her to stumble backwards. He stepped into the room.
"What are you doing here?" Fiona asked with a hand folded across her chest.
He chuckled and scanned her from head to toe. "So you're actually a prostitute. It's good that I never settled down with you."
"Kael, please leave." Fiona said, as she rolled her eyes at him.
"Don't you dare disrespect me." He sneered, pulling her hair with his hands until she was screaming in pain. "You're still my thing and no matter how hard you try, my mark will always be on you." He released his hand roughly from her hair and she fell to the ground while rubbing her hurting scalp.
"I would never be your property or play thing." She spat at him. "If you don't want me, another man would." She added as she stood up from the floor.
Kael laughed lightly, mocking her for her ignorance. "Do you think he loves you? Which man would trade so much money for a waste like you?"
He came closer to her and pinned her to the wall. "You may be stepping into a worse place."
His body collided with hers and she tried to push him away, but he was heavy. He brought his lips closer to hers and kissed her roughly.
Fiona tasted the strong alcohol in his mouth, and then it occurred to her that he was drunk. She pushed him away, but he was still fast enough to grab her hand.
"You are mine, omega." He growled and pushed her to the bed.
"Leave me alone." Fiona tried hard to push him off her body, but his hand was already moving underneath her dress. In a second, he tore the loose dress that she wore, revealing her naked body.
Fiona struggled helplessly underneath him, but her puny punches were no match for his muscles. At last, tears escaped her eyes as she knew that there was no escape route. This wasn't the first time she was having sex with Kael. They did it a lot when they were still together and she loved it. But this time, the only thing she felt was pain as he moved roughly inside her.
"Like I said, you are mine." He whispered into her ears and his canines elongated, marking her a second time.
Tears clouded her eyes and as he stood up from her naked body, she asked him. "Why would you want me if you hate me so much?"
"You just wasted my time." He spat without any emotion and barged out of the room.
