Chapter 68 - CHAPTER 68: GRAND REOPENING

Ray once again thanked Misha and John for taking the time to attend the reopening of the street market.

He then guided them to the largest hotel in the outer district where the party was being held.

Ray handed the scissors to Misha, asking her to cut the ribbon at the entrance of the restaurant, and then began the operation of the inn once the program was completed.

He allowed others to enter and took Misha and John with him to show the changes he had made within the hotel.

John, who had visited the hotel before Ray took control, was stunned to see the entire interior, which used to be subpar, now had a rich look with expensive vases and furniture in the reception area.

A few women in tailor-made dresses were working as receptionists, standing by the desk and assisting guests with booking hotel rooms and providing other information.

Many wealthy merchants in the city were invited. They were impressed by the total change of the hotel and asked the receptionist about the cost of booking a room. Immediately, a few requested to book rooms for their associates.

After showing Misha and John around the facilities, Ray took them to the harbor side where the entertainment and general stores were open.

They entered a place called Play Casino, which offered various types of entertainment. Many people could place bets while playing and even bet on other games.

John and Misha played a few games for fun and asked Ray to sell them some simple game boards for entertainment in the castle. Ray agreed and directed a few people to transport all the extra boards to the city mansion.

Then they had lunch at the restaurant, which opened by noon. All the chefs working in the restaurant were students of chefs from the inner city, whom Ray hired with great effort after convincing their masters.

After a brief tour, Misha and John said goodbye to Ray, left the outer city, and returned to the inner-city lord's mansion.

Ray stayed there until evening when the sun went down, and the streetlights lightened up making it look like a shining gem compared to the surrounding area.

After ensuring that everything was progressing smoothly, Ray left the outer city and returned to his villa in the inner city.

That night, Ray slept soundly and woke up late the next morning--------------------------------

By the next day morning, Ray woke up to the grand opening of the city's main street was known to everyone in the inner and outer city.

Many citizens and travelers who had heard of the opening came to the street and began roaming along the street while visiting all the opened shops.

The low-level cultivators who were adjusting in the existing rooms in the inner city also got out and started checking in at the inn on the street which Ray was managing.

Except for the low spiritual concentration which was at the level present in the wild everything else is ok.

The Rooms in the inn are cheap compared to the inner city and the quality of the rooms is good enough.

Unlike the restaurants in the inner city where food costs more than stay, the food here is tasty and affordable.

There are plenty of casinos and bars here where you can enjoy playing games, having drinks, and gathering information by listening to people talk.

Low-level cultivators were given the opportunity to work as security personnel after undergoing a background check, and they were paid well if selected. This helped improve the living conditions of many poor cultivators in the city.

Many merchants have also fancied this prosperous street and visited the chief to rent the remaining land, leaving happily after the chief promised they would rent them the next day.

The next day, the chief announced a few strict rules and the tax they had to pay to the city lord's mansion for opening shops on the street. Some backed down after hearing these conditions, while others selected a plot of land and signed a five-year contract on the spot.

Over the next three days, many people entered the city for the upcoming auction, and many were amazed by the prosperous outer city.

The inner city no longer felt crowded despite the influx of new people, as the outer city now shared the burden of providing facilities to travelers who had come from afar for the auction.

The influx of many people has created problems in the city, but security, with the support of the city lord's mansion guards, has tightened its grip on such incidents. They have arrested individuals responsible for the incidents and implemented countermeasures to prevent future problems.

The increased security measures encouraged many more to open businesses in the outer city so they could earn more money with the flow of people.

Many early-stage Qi cultivators have found jobs in the outer city due to the daily openings of new businesses and the need for new recruits to maintain them.

As the street flourished, many felt envious because they couldn't secure the lot when the auction was held.

Many started enquiring about the details of Ray and the cost he paid to develop the street.

After extensive research, they discovered that Ray was an outsider and uncovered the amount he had spent on developing the streets.

They were convinced after hearing about the cost Ray had paid from his own pocket to develop the street in the city and lamented that they didn't dare to spend money lavishly. However, a few didn't understand Ray's reason for spending such a high amount on city development when he didn't even belong to the city.

Only the chief knew the answer as he advised Ray to spend money lavishly on the temporary land.

Ray explained that he often felt homesick when he remembered his birthplace. Since he cannot return there, he wants to create a place here as a sign of remembrance, so he can visit anytime he misses his hometown.

The chief couldn't ask him the reasons anymore after seeing the sad longing look on Ray's face.
