I stopped believing in love a long time ago.
I told myself it was foolish—that I was foolish—to think anyone could ever want me for more than my blood. But somehow, I kept falling into the same trap, over and over. Every time, I let myself hope. And every time, they left.
The four of them—Lena, Marisol, Vale, and Kieran—never came back. Not after that night. Not after they tasted my blood. I told myself it was a coincidence, that they were just busy, that maybe I'd see them again eventually.
But they never came.
And deep down, I knew why.
It was my blood. My hybrid blood, half human, half vampire—it makes other vampires stronger, more powerful. I'd heard whispers of it all my life, but I never wanted to believe it. I never wanted to think that the only reason anyone showed me kindness was to get their hands on what flowed in my veins.
