Melanie read the message on her phone. A small smile touched her lips as she sent back an okay emoji. She let the screen go dark for a moment, holding the phone loosely in her hand.
It felt good to know she wasn't fighting all by herself anymore. At least someone was on her side again. That thought gave her a little comfort, a small weight lifted from her chest. She had told Adam everything, every part of her plan, and now it wasn't just her secret to carry. She sighed softly, feeling calmer than she had in days. She hated keeping things from her husband.
After a pause, she unlocked the phone again and opened another chat. She typed, "Any news about Marianne?"
The reply came almost at once. "She has been trying to reach 'Melanie' for some time, but with Melanie in her honeymoon phase, she has not been able to contact her. Don't worry. She won't get through for a while."
