Chapter 340 - The Food Thief (Bonus Chapter)

Early in the morning, Shiro quickly finished washing up and changed into clean clothes. He then stepped onto the balcony and stretched.

"Ah~"

The sea before him shimmered white in the morning light. Wingull were already circling nearby, searching for food.

It was said that the Pokémon seas contained many different ecological chains. During long voyages, even every international cruise ship would naturally attract groups of Water-type Pokémon around it.

For example, Wishiwashi were among the most numerous species in the ocean and were eaten by countless Pokémon.

The Pelipper and Wingull before his eyes were hunting Wishiwashi. With their wide beaks, they scooped straight into the sea, swallowing both fish and seawater in one motion.

Watching this scene, he leaned forward against the railing and quietly observed for a while.

Then he heard a timid and soft voice behind him.

'Shiro…'

Turning around, he saw Mesprit, just waking up.

It rubbed its eyes, curled its soft body in midair, and muttered lightly, 'I'm really hungry. I want to eat…'

He stared blankly for a few seconds before reacting.

It was morning. Of course it was time to eat.

And yesterday, they had not eaten lunch or dinner either.

Not just him and Mesprit. Even Corviknight, Haunter, and the rest of the Pokémon had gone without food.

'I want breakfast too!' Unown A instantly popped up in front of him, its single eye filled with hunger.

Unown G had somehow appeared on his shoulder as well. After holding it in for a long time, the socially anxious Unown finally said, 'Hungry… food…'

Shiro immediately grabbed Unown A, pulled Mesprit down from the air, and headed for the door while calling out, "Let's go. Time to eat."

As soon as they stepped out and went down the stairs, the two Unown and Mesprit naturally hid themselves.

Shiro went all the way down to the first floor without seeing anyone.

The S.S. Anne was almost an empty ship. He was the only passenger, and the crew all had their own duties and did not wander around.

Only after entering the dining hall did he see chefs stationed at each service area.

It was all self-service. One could take whatever they wanted.

"You're up early," a short, chubby chef in a white uniform said with a smile.

Shiro was picking seafood onto his plate. Hearing that, he simply nodded.

As the chef helped serve dishes, he continued, "Our cruise ship has private training rooms and Pokémon training grounds. We have all kinds of equipment…"

Shiro looked up and smiled politely. "Sorry. It's my first time on a cruise, so I wasn't very familiar. I have a habit of training with my Pokémon."

"I apologize if I caused a misunderstanding," the chef said, bringing over a plate of sliced Wishiwashi. "You're a valued guest. I just want to make your stay as convenient as possible."

"Thank you." Shiro took the fish and walked away with another large plate.

At the dining area, he set the plates down and took out Poké Balls, releasing the smaller Pokémon that could eat here.

"Haunter, Growlithe, Vibrava, Drakloak."

The Poké Balls opened one by one. He also took out Pokéblocks from his bag and placed them into each Pokémon's bowl.

"Hauun~"

Haunter held its stomach with a grin. Its eyes did not focus on its bowl as usual. Instead, they drifted toward the sliced Wishiwashi, seafood, and cakes nearby.

It quietly stretched out a claw. The dark purple claw slid along the table, imitating legs as it walked toward the edge of the plate.

Its eyes scanned the surroundings. Then, in a flash, it hooked a slice of fish and stuffed it into its mouth.

"Haun…"

Covering its face, Haunter felt like it was about to float away.

Nothing felt better than sneaking food.

"Draaak…"

Drakloak floated above Haunter's head with a look of disdain, clearly seeing its shameless little theft.

If you wanted to eat, eat openly. Sneaking bites like this was just embarrassing.

Still…

Drakloak moved faster. It dove down and, together with the Dreepy on its head, each grabbed a small cake. They returned to their spots and started chewing.

"Draak!" (So good!)

Drakloak licked its lips, eyes shining.

Shiro had just finished dividing the Pokéblocks. He saw everything the two Pokémon did but did not bother stopping them.

The ones who suffered were Growlithe and Vibrava.

Growlithe sat by the table, looking pitiful. It tried to stand up, pressed against the table edge, then realized it had no hands and could not reach anything.

"Grooowl…"

Growlithe looked at its fellow victim, Vibrava.

But Vibrava was always quiet. Even when hungry, it did not move or complain. It just waited slowly, as if hunger did not affect it at all.

That was simply its nature. Vibrava's species hunted only after long intervals. One meal could last them half a month. This short time meant nothing.

"Growl!"

Seeing Haunter and Drakloak stealing food nonstop, Growlithe grew anxious.

It could not fly and had no hands. How was it supposed to eat?

Shiro shook his head helplessly, stood Growlithe up, pressed its big head toward the plate, then placed Fire-type Pokéblocks underneath.

Even so, Growlithe kept looking up pitifully. The fragrant Pokéblocks no longer seemed appealing.

'What did this dog want?'

Shiro scratched his head and followed Growlithe's gaze to the table.

It was still thinking about the fish.

He took another stack of fish slices and placed them into Growlithe's bowl. Only then did the dog lower its head and eat in peace.

Shiro rubbed its head a few times, then handed Vibrava its bowl, also adding a stack of fish.

As for Haunter, Drakloak, and the Dreepy on its head, they were already devouring Pokéblocks wildly.

The plate he had just brought to the table was now completely empty. All the food had been stolen.

With a sigh, Shrio went back to the serving area.

After a while, the Pokémon were full, and he had eaten enough as well.

He returned the Pokémon to their balls and followed the signs to the ship's private training room.

The S.S. Anne's private training room was fairly spacious. It was smaller than the one in the Rose Tower, but comparable to the private room at Hammerlocke Stadium.

It was more than enough for his current Pokémon.

Shiro first released Corviknight, Bewear, and Rhyperior. Because of their size, these three could only eat in the training room.

Then he took out a pile of Psychic-type Pokéblocks and handed them to the two Unown and Mesprit, who had been eyeing them for a long time.

He carefully observed the condition of the three larger Pokémon.

Corviknight and Bewear were fine. Their abilities were strong across the board.

As for Rhyperior… aside from its bulky body, it was slow and dull. Even when hungry, it would not call out. If not fed proactively, it could literally starve itself to death.
