Chapter 5 - chapter 5

I knew my goal. It was to enrich my family's status and get us out of the slums, and the best way to do that was to take the military classes and get an officer's ranking as quickly as possible. But I would be a fool to not take advantage of the resources this place offers. I smiled, I want magic, I want status, I want power, I want the life I deserve, the life my family deserves; the life we were supposed to have. I looked up studying the stands. I needed to know my options and what Aligned with my goals and so I began to walk. The only way to know was to walk up and see, I sighed. I had a lot to see… around an hour and a half or so later I was standing in line with a white piece of paper with 5 red names on it and an identification card with my face, age and name on it.(name; Nero, no sir name age:16 room:225) I had seen most of the stands and what classes they offered. And I had narrowed my options down to about 5 classes.

( basic battle arts, magic and sorcery studies, extensive history studies, basic smithing and evolving theories.) The first 2 classes were what I needed most to accelerate my path to becoming an officer. But I was at a disadvantage. I was behind in my knowledge of magic and battle, so taking the basic levels of those classes were my only option. Most everyone here had been grounded in the basics. Yes, me and Ro had been taught the fundamentals by the chief, but it was naive to think that we had actually learned anything useful. Putting myself in anything but the basics would've only hindered my progress. That much was obvious to anyone in my shoes. But it also opened my schedule, and I was mostly free to choose what I was interested in. The second 2 classes were a testament to not only my interest but also my late father.. My father worked two jobs in my adolescence; he was a janitor for the library and a stone cutter. He often took me to the library when he worked. We had no money to rent books but I could read them; our town had no significant books, mostly dictionaries and fantasy stores and basic history, but I fell in love with reading. I never went with my father to his stone-cutting job since it was manual labor. Despite the harshness of his job, my father thought the black smiths were amazing,He was fascinated with the way they could shape and create something with their own hands and strength. So I'm gonna embody those things that he admired. A bitter smile appeared on my face as memories of my father played in my mind. And lastly evolving theory's was something I was drawn to I'd say. It seemed like in that classes I would become privie to the knowledge of the theorys and maybe even secrets of the world and people I live in and with. After a while, I was walking out of the hall with an approved stamp on my paper and numbers marking the rooms my classes were in and the key to my own campus room. I couldn't keep the smile off my face as I swirled the key on my finger. But my smile dimmed when I realized I had completely forgotten about Rohan. But it quickly came back, Who cares im sure he found his way.
