It took a lot of effort to comfort the young merchild and by the time he calmed down, Fu Ling was exhausted. His kid didn't take this much effort to coax. It seems he didn't appreciate Tao Ran enough.
Hai Zhong led Fu Ling away and lowered his tone.
"I need to leave"
Fu Ling an eyebrow and Hai Zhong quickly explained
"He's an underaged mermaid. He can't be out of the sea for long. The longer he stays, the harder it will be for him to develop his human form in the future. I have to go back."
Fu Ling tilted his head
"Snd you wanted to personally say goodbye?"
Hai Zhong looked away as a suspicious flush covered his neck.
"I was.. Wonder if you would.. could go with me?"
Fu Ling blinked
"You want to take me back? Aren't your people very adverse to cross species relationships?"
Hai Zhong almost choked on his own saliva and looked at Fu Ling speechless but he also made his place clear
"I don't care what they think. I'm the one.. marrying you not them?"
