Everyone scanned the surroundings as the convoy passed through various districts, hoping to spot any remaining supplies worth scavenging.
Unfortunately, after successive waves of extreme flooding, severe cold, and now scorching heat, almost everything had been destroyed.
Anything left behind had likely been picked clean by scavengers.
Even so, what the refugees truly wanted now was jade from the city's jewelry district.
Gems were useless to most people in this ruined world, but with the Paradise Shop accepting jade as currency, finding some was as good as securing a motherlode of supplies.
When the convoy almost reached the district, General Mason turned to General Kaiser.
"Kaiser, can you ask the Paradise officers if we can make a brief stop? The refugees think there might still be some usable jade to salvage around here. They wanted to look and hoard some."
