Chapter 39 - Thank you Nathan

"My lord" Hal turned immediately to face Lucifer before answering his question.

"She…" he starmmered. "She is no one really, I just…"

"She is bleeding to death, Hal!" Lucifer had noticed the blood on Hal's hands and the one currently soaked in the pillow the girl had her head rested on.

"My lord I…" Hal was really finding it difficult to choose his words properly till Lucifer cut him short again.

"Take her to a human physician immediately" he breathed, not letting his words come out as an order. Not really because he was wanted to be calm but because he understood there was no way Hal would bring the girl into the mansion, being fully aware of the risks, only to watch her die. He cared for her and he was yet to find out why and since when. However, she needed help immediately, and he saw Hal to be very much confused on what to do.

"Take her to get help immediately Hal, and your explanation better be good by the time you return". He said finally and not waiting to hear another word from Hal's mouth before leaving then in the room and walking back briskly to Khalan's room.

He got to the entrance door and breathed, wanting to calm himself down before going in to meet her.

After feeling calm enough, he knocked softly on the door and there it was, her voice, as melodic as ever.

"Nathan?" She gasped a bit, really wishing it would be him as she rushed for the door. She opened it immediately and it was really him. He looked just the same, a bit lighter in skin up but still the same.

"Oh Nathan" she burst into tears as she hugged him tightly.

"Where have you been? You left me here, all alone! How could you?" She sobbed onto his chest.

"I am so sorry Khalan" he hugged her back and kissed her hair. "I just had a lot to take care of, but I am here now".

"Yes" Khalan sniffed, drying her eyes. "I can see".

She drew away from him, allowing him enter the room after closing the door behind him.

"Have you had anything to eat yet?" He asked her calmly, noticing how pale her face looked and how dull her eyes were.

"I have not left this room since you left Nathan" she sat at the edge of her bed, intentionally looking away from his face while she spoke as if she was trying to make him understand that she was still very much angry at him.

"It is just me in this big house, no help, no chef" she pouted.

Lucifer felt a sting of disappointment as she spoke. Not at her, but at himself. He was disappointed at himself because he now saw truly that he was not caring for his Khalan as he should. She had been in the mansion for a long while now, all alone with no other company aside from himself. Even when Hal was here, he was always invisible to her. He felt like she needed a friend, good company and he was going to get her one.

Someone she could spend time with and not feel bored, someone to help her, serve her and make sure she was properly taken care of whenever he was not around because Hal seemed to have found a new interest.

He knew if he could find someone very suitable for that, Khalan would not have to wait till noon everyday to have breakfast just like she did today because he was not around and Hal was busy with his new found miss. 'He was still going to punish him for that anyways' he thought, clenching his fist a bit.

However, his main priority was finding Khalan a good companion, someone who she could feel comfortable but he had no idea where to find that person. Well, he will just leave that thought for later. For now, he has to appease her and he had just the idea.

"Get dressed up, I am taking you uptown today". He smiled a bit, showning off his slightly elongated fangs although not in its full length but still longer than a regular human's.

"Really?" Khalan was too excited to notice his pointy teeth. She already had excitement bubbling inside her.

"We are going uptown?" She asked honestly hoping she heard right.

"Yes we are" he confirmed.

"Do I get to do some shopping?" She pouted in plea.

"Of course" he smiled. "You get to shop as much as you want, do anything you want to do, I just want you to be happy".

Khalan could not believe she was hearing right. This was for real a dream come true. She had wanted to request this herself but had not really gotten the opportunity to and now she was very happy that it was Nathan bringing it up himself. She needed to get so many essentials for herself. Her coming and staying in the mansion was too abrupt and although Nathan made sure she had everything she needed at her disposal, she still had this feminine urge to get somethings for herself, and most especially, a new dress for her eighteenth birthday. It was already drawing near and she wanted to make it the most memorable birthday she has ever had all her life. Having all this in mind, the thought going shopping alone was really going to make her really excited.

"Yes Khalan" her smile made him feel this calming satisfaction. "I will leave you to get dressed now, while I go saddle the horses okay?"

"Okay then" her smile was still very wide. He made to leave the room as soon as he finished speaking but she pulled him back, pressed a kiss against his cheek and then let him go.

"Thank you Nathan" she said very softly, in an almost whisper.

He was caught off guard by her kiss but he quickly pulled himself together, replied her in a calm tone as well.

"Anytime Khalan, anytime" and then he left finally.

She smiled to herself uncontrollably as she watched him leave and close the door behind him. She loved the way she was getting bolder these days and also could not get over the fact that she affected him so much, the way he froze after the peck said it all and she could not feel any prouder of herself.

She squealed, clenching her fists and blushed hard but then realized that she had something more exciting to attend to and that was getting ready for their outing. She rushed in to her closet immediately, searching throughly for the right outfit and also taking notes of things that were missing there that she would definitely get during her shopping today.

Finally, she settled for a peach-colored dress made of linen, with a fitted bodice and a full, flowing skirt that falls to her ankles. The sleeves were long and narrow, with a slight flare at the wrist. The dress was adorned with intricate embroidery with it's subtle sheen, indicating it was made from a high-quality fabric. She added simple girdle cinches at her waist, adding a touch of elegance with her black wavy hair perfectly brushed was left flowing.

She applied scenting oils and painted her lips with a shiny pink colored lipstick. She combed out her brows and put on a simple jewelry set Nathan had gotten for her days ago. The golden piece really complemented her white skin and raven black hair, adding more glow to her emerald peepers. She looked at her reflection and smiled with satisfaction. She was indeed very beautiful.

She was about to leave the room to look for Nathan so they can head out immediately but rather bumped into him as he was already at the door waiting for her.

As soon he set his eyes on her, he immediately began to reconsider his decision of actually waiting till she turned eighteen before taking her innocence. She looked very breathtaking and literally, he was finding it hard to breathe. He just stood there, admiring such a beauty she was.

"I am ready Nathan" she finally broke the silence, calling him out of the oblivion of his wild thoughts.

"You… are …ready?" He starmmered making her chuckle lightly. She knew he was completely blown away by how beautiful she looked and she loved it.

"Oh yes! You are!" He quickly got a hold of himself.

"This way" he took her hand and by his lead, they left the mansion and headed for uptown just like he promised…
