Chapter 38 - It's cute

Xavier

It was late in the night when I returned to Riley's penthouse. Everything was a mess. She'd turned her house upside down.

I sighed, approaching her bedroom. When I entered, I saw her on the balcony of her bedroom. She looked so lonely.

I quietly approached her, embracing her from behind.

"What's wrong?"

Riley scoffed and shrugged me off her. She turned to face me. "You're really going to ask me that stupid question? Really?"

"I see that my baby is still upset."

Her expression turned sour. "Don't tell me that you also think that I was overreacting?!"

I sighed, dejected. "Why are you being like this? You're really blowing things out of prorpotion."

She scoffed then chuckled dryly, turning around with her back facing me.

"Baby, Rhea already apologised." I sighed. "Right now, I just can't help but feel like you're trying your very best to find any reason, even if its stupid, to hate your sister. That's wrong."

Silence enveloped us. Maybe I'd convince her to see things much clearer tomorrow after she calms down.

I stepped out of Riley's bedroom, because I knew that she was too upset to have me hanging around her. I took the elevator downstairs and when the valet brought my car around, I drove back to my penthouse.

The next morning, at Glamouri Beauty.

Knock. Knock.

"Come in." I said.

I was surprised to see her here.

"Hey. I hope I didn't catch you at a bad time."

"Oh, no. What can I help you with, Rhea?"

She chuckled, taking a seat. "Word on the streets is you're looking for a personal assistant?"

"That's right."

"Well, I'm just coming from the HR. They offered me the job this morning after successfully bagging last weeks interviews." She excitedly told me.

"Are you sure you want to work for me?" I teased her.

"Yes. What, are you a difficult person to work for?"

"Sometimes." I shrugged, laughing. "Just kidding."

"I know." She smirked. "You're too good for that."

Bang!

My office door was forcefully pushed opened. The banging sound of the door hitting the wall was very loud. It caught me off guard.

"Please don't tell me that you're actually going to accept her to work for you!" Riley exclaimed.

"I've already accepted her. Besides, Rhea's very qualified for the position. It'd be a shame to turn her away."

Riley huffed. "I don't want you to work with this rat! That in itself is enough reason for you to not accept her."

"Baby, I need a PA."

"I know. That's why I'll personally select one for you. Someone I know will do a great job."

I got up from my chair. I held Riley's shoulders. "But, I really want Rhea to work for me. She's going to be excellent."

Riley's eyes were red, she was still angry. She glared at Rhea. "I'll make sure you regret coming here."

With that, Riley shrugged me off her shoulders, turned around and stepped out of my office.

I sighed, turning around to face Rhea. "I'm really sorry about that."

Rhea smiled. "It's fine. I know she's still hurt about everything that went down. I know she'll come around."

I smiled. Rhea's very understanding. It's cute.
