The first one didn't wait for the others.
It came down the street in a low run, club dragging behind it and throwing sparks off the asphalt, and when it was ten meters away it lifted the club over its head with both hands and leapt. It was going to bring the whole thing down on Jin's skull and crush him into the road, but Jin stepped into it.
The blade was in his hand before the club reached the top of its swing. He cut upward once, clean, and the iron club split in two along with the hand holding it. The front half of the club spun away and clanged across the street. Three red fingers fell after it. The creature landed in front of him off balance, staring at its own wrist, and Jin turned his hip and opened its chest from shoulder to ribs before it could scream.
It fell at his feet. It bled, thick and dark, and it didn't get back up.
