It was a long night.
Longer than Jin had thought possible. By midnight, he'd stopped feeling his legs. By two in the morning, he'd stopped being able to tell whether he was hungry or just tired. By the time the sky started to turn grey, he'd spent more system points than he'd spent in the entire time since the world ended, and he still wasn't done.
He started with the school. More beds. More blankets. More rooms opened up in the parts of the building they'd never bothered to use, the old music room, the second gym, the long-abandoned dormitory wing at the back that had been nothing but dust and broken furniture for months. He bought upgrades to the kitchen, bigger stoves and deeper pots, and upgrades to the water purifier, and an entire second storeroom filled to the ceiling with rice and dried goods and things in tins.
Then he went out into the city.
