"You want me to do what?"
Mirim stood beneath the silver tree with her arms folded and her green eyes narrowed, staring at Jin like he'd just asked her to pull the moon out of the sky. The white flowers in her hair had gone very still. Around her bare feet, the grass had stopped swaying in the breeze, as if it, too, was waiting to hear the answer.
They were back in the school courtyard. Yerin had brought them home through the church door less than an hour ago, and Jin hadn't even stopped to eat. He'd walked straight out to the silver tree and called her name, and she'd stepped out of the trunk the way she always did, curious and calm, right up until he'd told her what he wanted.
"I want you to grow the forest," Jin said again. "All of it. Across the whole city."
Mirim didn't move.
Behind Jin, Joon made a strangled noise.
