Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: Failed

Wyatt could feel the pain shooting all over his body, he felt like his body was on fire and his bones were on the verge of burning out of his skin. The burning felt like hell, but

it wasn't the first time he felt it.

This familiar pain, he felt it after he woke up in the forest where he met Craven, after he relived the images of burning down the whole orphanage and killing sister Lucy.

'why does it feel like I'm getting better though?' He wasn't imagining things, he was feeling better, much quicker than the last time.

After forcing himself to open his eyes slightly, he could then see why he was healing quickly. It was Callum's doing.

"Your awake." Callum sighed, relieved, "you heal rather quickly, I've only done so much

with my talent." callum smiled.

'Talent?' It had completely skipped Wyatt's mind that Callum was a talent user. How else would he have been able to operate as the dark Bull's healer.

"Thanks, I feel better now-" Wyatt was cut short when he felt himself being gripped into a soul crushing bear hug from behind him.

"Oh, my Wyatt, how I missed you. The world felt so bleak without your ever-blinding bright smile." Julius said, while still encasing him in a 'hug of death'

"And how would you know what his 'Ever-blinding bright smile' looks like? He's barely been here for two days." Candy laughed as she hit Julius' head with so much power that

he let go of Wyatt, albeit temporarily.

"I don't need to know what his smile looks like," Julius held Wyatt even tighter, "all I need to do is look at his heavenly features to know that his smile lights up my world." Julius rocked Wyatt back and forth, much to the discomfort of Wyatt.

Soon the base became Noisy from the bickering of Candy and Julius, Randy's occasional outburst of 'I wanna fight him next', mixed in with the subtle 'ouch' from Wyatt

whenever Julius rocked him.

"Tch." A rather irritated sound came from a corner in the room.

Lung just stood there, leaning against a wall, hands crossed, standing next to his sister.

Tai gave Lung a stern look before walking to where Wyatt and other were. The others could feel tension for some reason, it felt like another fight was about to break out.

Tai made her way to where Wyatt was before extending her hand to help him stand, "How're you feeling?" she smiled.

Wyatt smiled as he accepted her help, "better than when we fought." he joked.

Tai let out a guilty laugh, "sorry about that, the Captain said to push you to limit."

'That bastard.' Wyatt's eyes twitched.

"oh, how's your leg?" Wyatt remembered feeling something snap in his grasp during their fight.

"Better, no thanks to you." Lung said coldly from the corner where he stood.

"Cut it out." Tai snapped at him with an equally cold tone.

"Yeah dude, it's not like he beat her to a pulp. He only broke her leg." Randy added.

'Not helping' Wyatt smiled wryly

Lung made and annoyed face before walking outside. Everyone was surprised, it wasn't like Lung to behave like this. He was always to lazy, friendly guy who never got mad. Seeing his sister in danger must have stirred something inside him.

"Sorry about him, he's not usually like this." Tai apologized to Wyatt on her brother's behalf after he left the room.

"No, I should be apologizing. I did hurt you after all." Wyatt scratched the back head nervously. This was definitely the longest he had ever spoken to any girl that was Annalise.

"ugh, and here I thought were gonna fight or something. Boring, I'm gonna go train." Randy walked out disappointingly.

"I've a new batch of poison to test out," Candy made to leave. "Wanna help me out, Bob?" she suddenly asked.

Bob's whole body shivered from fright, before replying with a stiff nod.

Callum and Wyatt watched them as they left, grateful that they weren't chosen.

"Well, I've got check up on Annie. If you feel anything strange let me know and I'll heal you right up." Callum stood up and left, leaving Wyatt alone with Tai.

They both stared at each other for a while before Wyatt nervously looked away.

'She's really cute, Crap what do I say now? I'm really bad at talking to women.' Wyatt panicked inwardly.

"About Lung," Tai suddenly spoke up, " I'm sorry, but if you can please be patient him. We've only had each other for a long time, so you can understand how it felt for him to watch me get hurt. But I promise he'll come around, he just needs convincing."

Tai slightly bowed her head as she spoke, causing Wyatt to get even more nervous.

"uh, like I said, it's my fault so you don't have to apologize. And don't worry I'll to settle thing with him, so you can rest assured." Wyatt was waving his hands to and fro as he spoke, making his nervousness even more visible.

Tai smiled at Wyatt's fidgetiness, then she also got up to leave. When she got to the door, she turned to face Wyatt.

" Oh, the captain said to meet him in his office when your up and about again. He said he had something important to tell you, Good luck." she waved at him the left.

Wyatt groaned, what could that crazy old man possibly want now?

'I did his stupid test didn't I? What now? Oh, the test. That's what probably wants to talk about.'

Getting up, wyatt started to look around for Where craven might possibly be, after all he hadn't been here long enough to know anywhere.

It didn't take long for him to locate where Craven was, he was in a room that literally had 'Captain's office' plastered on the door.

Wyatt just shook his head before opening the door, the room smelled of booze although it was neat and orderly, which suggested that Craven had been drinking earlier.

"You wanted to see me?" Wyatt said to Craven.

Craven sat behind a table with his his fingers interlocked and a big smile on his face

"Good to see ya on yer feet again, kid." Craven's smile widened, which just made wyatt even more worried.

"is this about the test? How'd I do?" Wyatt asked, he surely earned some points for taking so many hits from that monster of a girl right?

"oh, you failed woefully." Craven replied cheerfully.

"Eh?"
