Chapter 36 - Swordsman Down

The ogre's grin turned to a frown. With slightly broken grammar, it grunted before saying: "Arrogant... brash human. You will die by the hand of the fourth King's Guard--Domon."

The creature began to walk forward as well, staring Sin in the eyes.

The ogre had full confidence. It was currently 254 years old, having fought over 10,000 times in its lifetime.

However, there was something about the speed in which Sin walked, and also that fierce look in his eyes, that fostered a bud of doubt to grow inside the ogre's head.

Still, seeing this as being nothing but foolish courage, the ogre lunged forward into a sprint.

It arrived where Sin was in seconds, its top speed easily reaching 40mph. Weaving its heavy sword like an axe, Domon swung from the side and directly for Sin's torso.

Sin ducked below the sword. Domon overswung, leaving his underarm and ribs fully vulnerable.

Sin took advantage--seeing the opportunity immediately with his eagle-like eyes that were highly focused on each part of the fight. He sidestepped, rotating his hips and punching the ogre's ribs with full force.

He landed with a forceful impact, sending ripples through the ogre's body. There was also a crunch.

Sin smiled immediately as he heard this, as if it was instinctual.

'I broke him.' He thought to himself.

At that moment, he couldn't help but look up at the ogre's face.

A new expression had taken over the ogre's face all of a sudden.

A mix of shock, fear, confusion, and excruciating pain assaulted the ogre out of nowhere--forcing it to abruptly hop backwards several times.

It put its hand on its side, holding its ribcage.

"Shattered?" Domon muttered out loud with wide eyes, as if he was surprised to hear those words from himself.

His eyes wandered down, locking in on Sin.

"Human... this human has broken my rib." Its heart pounded. For the first time in a long time, it felt an almost suffocating fear.

"This can't be. I won't let this be." Domon began to move forward, attempting to prove to itself that it was still superior.

Sin smiled as he saw this, "Good... don't back down yet. I'm just getting started!" He sprinted forward, the ogre not backing down and doing the same.

The two met in the middle, the ogre attacking first. This time, it maintained a heavy stance, swinging from the hip multiple times in quick succession.

Jabs, strikes, slashes. Whatever you could think of, the ogre didn't just stop at one or a couple. It unleashed a flurry of attacks--going all out to scrape Sin.

However, Sin's small size paired with his elite strength was too much. His tendons were so strong that he was able to dodge every single swipe of the ogre's heavy sword.

The ogre finally lifted the sword up, swinging from above.

Sin looked up, seeing the sword mere inches from his face.

He took a simple step back before lifting up his leg and slamming the sword down deep into the ground with the heel of his foot.

For a second, the ogre tried to quickly unlodge its sword. However, it realized pretty fast that it was pointless.

Both Sin and the ogre looked up at each other, knowing that one of their fates had been sealed.

Sin jumped from the sword up into the air, throwing a roundhouse kick straight to the brain of the ogre.

The ogre's neck snapped back--its head spinning forcefully. Its neck cracked, its eyes rolling into the back of its head as blood spurted out of its nose.

Finally, it fell on its side with a loud slam.

Sin waited a second, landing back on the ground. He glanced at the ogre. It was still twitching slightly.

"Not dead?" He said, slightly surprised. He then looked at the sword that was lodged into the ground.

Grabbing it with both hands, he squatted down and pulled with max effort--easily retrieving the sword.

Then, he looked at the ogre with a smile. Walking over, Sin lifted the sword up without any hesitation and swung it down right through the neck of the beast.

Sin smirked, looking down at the bulging veins in his forearms as he held the greatsword.

'This thing... is awesome.' He lifted the sword up with one hand over his head.

He stared at its edge. It was slightly bent here and there, but Sin felt it was also imbued with a bit of Spirit Energy.

There was something more to this sword than its sheer physical form. Sin imagined that some sort of weak incantation or enchantment had been put on it.

'I want to store this thing, but it's far too large for my 5 by 5 square feet inventory...'

He paused for a second before slugging the large weapon over his shoulder, 'Screw it... I don't know how to fight with swords, but for now, this will probably be better than my hands in this dungeon. It will give me more reach in exchange for speed, but as long as I'm not dealing with a strong-ass ogre like that, I should be fine.'

He glanced over at the corpse of the ogre he just killed.

It wasn't just wearing some basic cloth. Instead, it was decked out in old iron armor.

'Domon, that was its name. And its title... one of the four guards of the king?'

A few questions popped up in Sin's head as he thought of this. Who is the king? And where are the other three guards of the king?

Also, this matched what Sin had seen in the room before this one as well--the room with all of the ancient depictions.

A throne at the center, and four swords placed all around it.

'Four guards of the crown... hopefully the others are a bit stronger. Maybe I can even level up a couple more times after killing all of them.'

With the giant 8-foot sword now hauled over his shoulder, Sin prepared to continue this dungeon.

But first, he wanted to check out this battle dome...
