 "Huaaap!"

I drew in a sharp gulp of air, as though I had been starved of it for far too long, the ceiling lights slowly sharpening back into view. My chest rose and fell with heavy, uneven breaths, while beads of sweat slid down my skin, soaking into the fabric of my shirt until it clung tightly to my back.

It took several seconds for me to regain my bearings as I pressed my hand against my temple. 

'...Hopefully, I won't have to do that again.' 

A lot of things started to make sense to me all of a sudden. 

Mainly, why the door was no longer locked. 

"It looks like those from the First Squad have arrived. This is a lot earlier than I previously predicted." 

Whatever entity was locking the door had most likely been scared of, or had gone to them. 

This seemed to be the best explanation. 

Either way, I had expected them to come much later than this. 

However, this was good. 

I was on the verge of going mad.
