Chapter 13 - CHAPTER 13 - GRUVV's POV

"Those petals weren't put in his mouth for some sexual fun. They came from his lungs. Mr. Shiloh has a rare disease called Hanahaki Disease. Only a few people in the world have it. It's a disease that some folks refer to as a beautiful and deadly disease. It's caused by a deep loss and missing someone they loved."

I was surprised to hear such a long explanation from the doctor in the hallway of the hospital. I'm pretty surprised to hear about this for the first time, especially since I haven't heard of anyone with a terminal illness just because they feel certain things.

I took out my phone and did some digging. The disease is definitely a thing, but it's so rare that only 0.1% of the world's population has it.

"He had a rose growing inside his lungs. The rose grew larger and pressed against his lungs. He often coughed and threw out the petals. It sounds ridiculous, but it's how Hanahaki's disease works. The feeling from losing someone they loved started in the lungs or heart. Good thing Shiloh's roses grew inside his lungs."

I held the phone in my hand.

"His body went into shock and overdosed. We've been trying to clear all the drugs from his system. It's going to take some time for him to bounce back. When it comes to this stuff, long-term use can really do a number on his body."

I couldn't stop thinking about what the doctor said tonight. Not only did he look so skinny from malnutrition, but he was also dealing with an extremely rare disease. What is that guy Gil doing? He's got an Omega dominant son, but he sells him just for the cash.

The poor kid's not even in good condition.

I stood there looking at the door to the hospital room, and I pushed it. There he was, lying on the bed, weak and helpless.

"Gruvv, if you had been late taking him to the hospital tonight, he would've died."

I took a deep breath, sat down by the bed, and looked at him. His face really isn't like Gil's at all. Shiloh's face is more like a sculpted statue. He looks so beautiful. Long eyelashes, thin lips, a sharp chin, and a high nose.

"Oh, no. He's an dominant Omega..." I said quietly.

That night, I headed back home and called Cross before heading to bed. I let him know that we found Shiloh Rudapriya, and we talked about selling the boy to another brothel. I explained to him how his condition is and how difficult it's going to be to sell him for the time being.

At 3 a.m., the hospital called and woke me up. It was urgent, since my house is a bit far from the hospital. I got out of bed and hurried to my car. It got there in about two hours. I try to drive my car as fast as possible while my hands are shaking like crazy.

I'm not sure what happened, but they said the boy had a seizure.

When I got there, the nurse told me that the boy's body was reacting to pheromones. Specifically, alpha pheromones. He had made it through, but then the doc told him to get moved to a private room. He can't smell any alpha pheromones.

"Gruvv, you're still unable to control your pheromones?" Ask Dr. Andrew, he's one of my family's doctors.

"You can judge for yourself." I said, while holding a cigarette.

We're in the hospital park, and he said he wants to talk to me privately.

"That's why I asked, that boy...His body doesn't react with your pheromones."

I stopped my hands in the air, looked at Andrew with a surprised look on my face. "What did you say?" I had no idea.

"So when I went in to check on him before his body reacted, his room smelled like you. However, his body didn't react to it." Andrew looked at me like I was a piece of meat, and I couldn't believe it. "Gruvv, he can be our subject for your illness."

I had a long talk with Andrew after that. He showed me to a room and asked me to stick around for ten minutes. Because I couldn't control my own pheromones, the room filled quickly with my scent. As Andrew thought, the boy's body didn't react.

There wasn't any seizure activity like he said there would be.

"I'll take him home and give him some intensive care." After Andrew explained everything to me, I told him that I'd need to spend more time with the boy if things were going to improve.

We've got a whole team of nurses and docs to handle things at my place now.

"Mr. Gruvv, this guy is gorgeous. It's too bad to see him looking so fragile. His body is so skinny..." Ave, the maid who's been taking care of me since I was a kid, let out a sad cry at Shiloh's situation. Yes, his condition is really bad.

I switched up some of his caregivers, since he wasn't accepting Alpha pheromones, and I personally couldn't stand having Omega near me. Besides him.

After a week, he finally opened his eyes. He looked pretty shocked and scared.

"Wow, your body control is hilarious." I said with a big smile, as I walked up to him. He's looking so much better. I think he really wants to live. His eyes still seem a bit distant, like he's still feeling the effects of the meds. "There's no need to talk, you're still on drugs."The doctor said the drugs' effect is gonna take a while to wear off." I leaned in to take a closer look at his face.

"You're so beautiful." I said before leaving the room.

He didn't react to my pheromones, like Andrew thought he would.

Interesting.

When I was in his room at night he woke up again. His question that night caught me off guard.

"Is that your pheromone's smell?"

I never knew the scent of my pheromones. People around me are constantly complaining about my pheromones, and my family isn't thrilled about them either. They're always telling me that the scent is too strong.

"The sweet one, it's the sweet Tangerines smell."

He told me my pheromones smell like sweet tangerine.

"Your scent calms me."

When he said that, I blinked because he was looking at me like he wasn't himself. I could tell he was still in a world of his own. He's still kind of out of it, but it's clear he said it.

I've never had someone say that to me before. My whole life. My heart skipped a beat.
