The kiss had turned hungry, almost desperate, the quickened rhythm of breath, and the rustle of clothes tugged aside. Raven's cloak had long fallen forgotten to the floor. She tugged Arthur's shirt up in one smooth motion, her hands brushing the hard lines of his chest before tossing it aside.

Arthur wasted no time in returning the favor. His hands slid along her sides, finding the edge of her top and peeling it away until pale skin and the black lace beneath were revealed. Raven's cheeks flushed deep crimson, but she didn't hesitate, she pushed him back onto the bed and followed him down, their mouths crashing together again.

The mattress groaned beneath them as they tumbled onto it. She straddled him, hair falling like a dark curtain around their faces as her fingers dug into his shoulders. Arthur's hands roamed down her back, holding her close, his own lips pulling a soft, startled sound from hers before the kiss deepened once more.

It was wild and hungry, leaving only this raw burning need between them.

Arthur's hands slid to her neck, pulling her tightly against him. She gasped softly against his lips but didn't pull away. Instead, she leaned closer, so close that the violet glow of her eyes seemed to merge with his own. His voice was low, rough with heat.

"Raven, It seems we are about to be inter..."

She silenced him with another kiss, her fingers tugging through his hair, her body pressing harder into his. The world beyond this room might as well not have existed.

Until the door creaked open.

"Yo, Raven, you need to come immediately, Robin is..."

Beast Boy froze mid-sentence.

The sight before him would haunt him forever: Raven, in her bra and panties, straddling a shirtless Arthur on her bed. Arthur lay beneath her with an expression that was equal parts annoyed and murderous, while Raven's face was flushed scarlet, lips swollen, and eyes glowing violet.

Both of them turned in eerie unison, violet light burning in the gloom, staring at him like he had just signed his own death warrant.

Beast Boy's face went pale. He didn't speak, didn't move for several moments. Then, very carefully, he turned on his heel, closed the door with painful slowness, and vanished down the hall without another word.

For a moment, there was silence.

Then a muffled scream echoed through the Tower.

Arthur's laugh rumbled low in his chest, warm and unbothered, as if Beast Boy's horrified face had been nothing more than a passing joke. Raven, on the other hand, was crimson from ear to ear. She collapsed onto him with a huff, pressing her forehead against his bare chest, too embarrassed to look him in the eye.

Arthur said first, shaking his chest as he fell back against the pillows. "Oh boy,… you just attacked him, didn't you?"

Raven groaned, burying her burning face in his chest. "That idiot," she muttered, mortified, her voice muffled against his skin. "I don't think I can go out there and face them now."

Arthur's chuckle softened into something warmer. He brushed a hand through her hair, the fondness in the gesture cutting through the heat of moments before. "Well, I tried to warn you.." he said, amused but gentle, "it seems privacy doesn't exist here."

She didn't answer, only clung to him tighter, her heartbeat still racing against his chest.

Arthur smirked faintly, but his tone softened. "There's a solution to that, you know."

Raven shifted slightly, curious, though she didn't lift her head just yet.

"You could always move to my estate for good," he continued, calm and serious. "You can teleport, it won't get in the way of your duties as part of their team. And you won't have to worry about green intruders barging in."

That earned the smallest laugh from her, though she quickly stifled it. She was quiet for a long moment, the only sound in the room their mingled breaths. Then, slowly, she lifted her head. Her violet eyes met his, searching him for any hint of teasing.

"Wait...You really meant it ?" she asked, voice low and uncertain, as if she didn't quite believe he meant it.

Arthur didn't hesitate. "You already know it's just me, George, and a swarm of shadow demons tending to the place." His lips quirked into a wry grin. "Not exactly crowded."

Her eyes softened, but before she could say anything, he added with a chuckle, "Besides, Kara basically treats it like a hotel anyway. She invites herself in, crashes whenever she wants, raids the kitchen. So why not make it permanent and stay there to keep her in check?"

For a second, Raven blinked at him. Then, to his surprise, her eyes lit up not with embarrassment, but with a warmer look, something hopeful she rarely let anyone see.

"I kind of wanted that..." she admitted quietly, almost shyly, though her gaze never wavered.

Arthur's smile widened, and he lifted a hand to brush his knuckles across her cheek. "Then it's settled."

Raven let out a breath she hadn't realized she was holding. She nestled against him again, the tension in her shoulders finally loosening. For once, she didn't feel the need to guard her words, her thoughts, or her heart. With Arthur, it was safe.

Arthur simply held her close, one hand absently tracing along the curve of her back. The warmth of Raven pressed against him, her heartbeat steady, almost hypnotic. For a moment, he allowed himself the fantasy.

'Wouldn't it be nice to just continue life like this… even though I'm not entirely human no more.. But..'

His chest rose with a deep sigh, eyes fluttering open. The violet glow beneath them ignited faintly, an edge of reality piercing the quiet dream.

'Not in this kind of universe.'

****

Watchtower, one day ago.

The void of space stretched endless around the station, stars scattered like shards of broken glass. A streak of red and blue broke through the black, Superman, his cape trailing behind him, moved faster than sound should allow. His jaw was set tight, brows knitted. A distress signal this severe couldn't be ignored.

He landed in the main hall with a thundering boom, the deck plates rattling beneath the sudden force.

"J'onn," he said sharply, scanning the empty corridors, "what's going on? The signal..."

Martian Manhunter appeared from the shadows of the chamber, calm as ever, though there was something guarded in his posture. "There is no signal," J'onn said plainly. "It was fabricated."

Clark's eyes narrowed. "Fabricated? By who?"

"By me," came the even-toned reply.

Before Clark could speak, the large central screen behind J'onn flickered to life. The darkness of the Batcave filled the display, the only illumination the blue-white glow of monitors and the faint flicker of machinery.

And there sitting rigid in his chair, cowl pulled low was Batman.

"Hello, Clark." His voice was steady, cold, and precise. "Sorry for the theatrics, but this was necessary."

Clark's fists unclenched slightly, though the irritation was still in his tone. "You pulled me across half the system for a false distress call, Bruce. Do you have any idea how.."

"I know how you feel but It's important," Batman cut him off, his tone firm enough to halt Superman mid-sentence. "So listen carefully."

Clark folded his arms, jaw still tight. His patience was thin, but he knew Bruce if he went through this much trouble, it wasn't without reason.

"I'm listening," he said at last.

Batman leaned forward, shadows clinging to his face, but his eyes glinted like steel behind the mask. "This isn't about an external threat. It's about one that already managed to slip to Earth. One that might be tied to your origins."

J'onn's gaze flicked briefly toward Superman, then back to the screen, saying nothing.

Clark's brows furrowed. "Spit it out, Bruce."

Batman didn't flinch. "Kryptonians."

The name echoed in the chamber.

Clark's expression hardened, but he didn't speak right away. His silence was its own answer.
