The Dark Continent is a forbidden zone for a reason. It offers no room for human life, where every second is filled with immense danger, one moment alive, the next beheaded. This only highlights Don Freecss's strength; he managed to explore the Dark Continent alone for so long and even had the energy to write a travelogue, proving he's at least an SS-level powerhouse.
Right now, Larry's greatest assets are the mythical level Marshadow and the ability after merging with the Shedinja. These two give him the real confidence to dare to explore the Dark Continent.
After the giant soul was destroyed, even if the black shadow continued to play its eerie music wildly, it wouldn't make much of a difference. When they first entered, the entire cave was packed tightly with souls.
Anyone with trypophobia would probably pass out just by looking at them. Even normal people would feel numb and might develop trypophobia afterward. But now, only a few souls remained, and the cave suddenly felt much more spacious. It was just Larry, the others, and the lonely black shadow left inside.
What had once been a situation where the enemy was overwhelming had completely flipped in an instant, shifting the balance between offense and defense. "Pokémon successfully bred!"
As hydreigon awaited the moment to harvest the souls of the Pokémon, the second progress bar in Larry's mind finally reached completion. A new Pokémon emerged, a creature with a fish-like blue head, marked by a large, oval-shaped plate on its forehead.
Around its eyes, lighter blue and red patterns spread across its entire head, giving it a distinctive look. What appeared to be a neck was actually the tail of the lower half of a resurrected fossil Pokémon. Its dark green skin was etched with red lines, topped with sharp red spikes.
This was none other than Dracovish, one of Ash's powerful partners! Known as a fossil Pokémon, Dracovish is considered among the strongest of its kind.
According to the Pokédex, its incredible leg strength and powerful jaws allowed it to hunt prey on both land and sea in ancient times. Unfortunately, it eventually became extinct due to drastic changes in its environment.
While its appearance might seem a bit odd, some might even say ugly, spending time observing it reveals a unique charm. In the original story, Dracovish often tried to bite Ash's head, forcing him to experience exactly what Team Rocket's James felt with Carnivine.
Larry had always thought Dracovish was just a strange-looking creature, ugly, yet somehow endearing, but nothing like Lucario's majestic presence. It wasn't until he truly understood Dracovish that he began to see its real allure, shifting from "ugly-cute" to downright impressive.
What makes this Dracovish special is its signature move: Fishious Rend. This attack involves biting the opponent with its massive jaws, and if it strikes first, the move's power doubles. Normally, as a Water-type move, Fishious Rend has 85 base power, but with its special effect, that becomes 170.
If Dracovish also has the Strong Jaw Ability, the move's power increases by another 50%, reaching 255. Without even considering other bonuses, this already turns a single bite into a devastating attack.
Aside from a slight speed disadvantage, its offensive power is overwhelming. Taking down multiple opponents often just means a few well-placed Fishious Rends. Speed isn't a big concern for Larry either,he has plenty of ways to ensure Dracovish strikes first, such as having Gardevoir use Trick Room to reverse turn order or letting Happiny use Sing to put the opponent to sleep.
On top of all that, as a Water- and Dragon-type Pokémon, Dracovish filled a crucial gap for Larry in sea battles, making it an invaluable addition to his team.
Right now, he had plenty of strong Pokémon ready, whether for land or air battles. But when it came to the ocean, the only ones he could rely on were Lapras and Dragonite, which hardly made a complete team. That's why the arrival of Dracovish was such an important reinforcement.
After carefully examining it, detailed information was revealed: it was called Dracovish, with powerful jaws and excellent swimming ability. Its typing was Water and Dragon, and its overall strength ranked among the most formidable of revived fossils. It had several signature moves, including Fishious Rend, Dragon Rush, Crunch, Waterfall, and Ice Fang.
Among these, the most distinctive was Fishious Rend. This attack involved biting the opponent with its massive jaws. If it struck first, its power doubled, making it one of the strongest biting moves in existence. Even compared to other Pokémon of the same rank, a single well-placed Fishious Rend could be overwhelming.
While in the games, taking such an attack simply meant losing a portion of your HP, in real battles, a bite strong enough to crush boulders could incapacitate a target in an instant. This was exactly why trainers respected Dracovish's power, when it clamped down, the outcome was rarely in doubt.
In the real world, Dracovish's Angry Incisors are even more important than its Gill Bite. No matter how strong the Gill Bite is, it's useless against enemies far stronger than itself and might not even crack their defenses. But Angry Incisors will always cut the opponent's health in half with one bite, there's no comparison between the two.
The regular skills of Pokémon are also a key reason Larry dares to explore the Dark Continent. Skills like Protection, which guarantees defense, Same Life that ensures you can take down your opponent, and Lay Egg that instantly restores half your health, these rule-based abilities make Pokémon truly valuable.
Keeping his focus, Larry moved step by step toward the dark shadow ahead. After wiping out all the minions, it was time to face the boss.
Without the precedent set by the violin, Larry might never have thought to push forward like this, assuming he'd be done with other matters first. But here he was, ready for the real challenge.
After the last sneak attack by the black shadow, Larry was certain that this time, the black shadow also had the ability to strike back. This was Dark Sonata using his own death aura as a weapon.
"Huh? Aren't you supposed to bring all of them?" Larry said casually as he walked toward the black shadow, with Gardevoir and Gengar flanking him on the left and right.
The hydreigon and Porygon Z stayed where they were. While Porygon Z was reliable enough to stay put, the sheer presence of the hydreigon was intimidating. If Dark Sonata got scared, things wouldn't go as planned.
Sure enough, after its souls were swept away, the black shadow seemed powerless to attack. Its blurry figure, like falling snowflakes, trembled continuously, and wisps of black smoke, made up of death aura, escaped from its body.
It was clear that losing so many souls had taken a huge toll. Since it controlled souls using its own death aura, the larger the soul, the more death aura it needed. With so many souls wiped out, its death aura even entered Gengar's belly, leaving no chance for recovery.
