Chapter 181 - Chapter 178

He especially needed these muscles in his hands, fingers and face.

White muscles allow for quick movements and instant reactions, but they also use up too much energy and prevent him from performing simple motor work, such as simply writing his name. If his body consisted only of white muscles, then instead of calmly picking up a piece of paper, his hand would twitch in all directions.

He especially needed these muscles in his shoulders, thighs and calves.

And finally, the pink muscles. These muscles seemed to be the best because they combined the advantages of both the red and white muscles. But as Bill discovered, although the pink muscles react about six times faster than the red ones, they are about three times slower than the white ones.

This meant that he would focus on the pink muscles in his neck, wrists, forearms, and eyes, but would not rely entirely on them.

After all, to control human movements, it was necessary to fine-tune each muscle group.

With all this in mind, armed with the experience he had gained from rebuilding the rest of his body, and fueled by IV drips, Bill set about adjusting his muscle fiber ratios to what he needed.

In the process, he naturally strengthened them, as he did the rest of his body.

This process took him unexpectedly longer than strengthening and restoring his skeleton, and it was only after two weeks that he finally finished.

Lying on his bed, Bill mentally examined himself and, seeing the fruits of his efforts, he could hardly wait to wake up to test his new body.

He began to trigger his bodily processes one by one until finally his eyes opened slightly.

Even though they hadn't been used for a long time, his eyes didn't see the spots, and Bill saw a blue ceiling in front of him.

Sitting up slightly, he was surprised to see how the hospital room was set up. His seven IVs were attached to dozens of bags that nearly filled the walls, full of proteins and nutritional fluids.

There were two chairs on either side of his bed, and Bill could hear the conversations and footsteps of people around him.

Most of the voices were unfamiliar to him, but one pair he could not confuse with anything else. From the next room he heard:

Yoko: "Why so long? You said he would get better!"

Miyagi: "My lady, his body is in incredible condition! I've never seen anything like it!"

Yoko: "You said that weeks ago! Maybe Fia was right and leaving Bill to watch you go was a mistake!"

Miyagi: "There is no mistake! It is a miracle, and I know you don't understand, but from the moment the captain was brought to me, I could tell that he was actively healing himself. In his condition, we simply could not risk the operation!"

Yoko: "I hope so, Mr. Goat!"

Miyagi: "No, mister! Only Miyagi, and I don't hope, I see it ha...".

Smiling to himself, Bill realized it was time to get out of bed and began to pull the IVs out of his arms. As he did so, he silently thanked Miyagi for not having to endure the catheters.

"Wait, have I really never gone to the toilet?" Bill thought and laughed, because even though he had turned off his digestive system, it hadn't even occurred to him.

Getting out of bed felt strange. Normally a person who had been in bed for a month would feel weak, but Bill felt like a step would send him flying through the ceiling.

With an effort of will, he regained control of his body and, walking to the corner of the room, quickly put on his usual clothes, which he assumed Miyagi had prepared.

As in his previous life, he always wore a jacket or vest unless it was too hot, and generally dressed like an old English teacher whose style had changed little since the 1950s.

This greatly amused his nurse at the moment when he was first allowed to choose his own clothes, but nothing more was said about it.

So, after putting on his dark gray trousers, he put on a blue shirt, a brown checked vest and brown shoes.

Feeling great, Bill straightened the collar of his shirt and walked out of the room, heading towards the sound of Yoko and Miyagi's voices.

Something strange was happening there: to his surprise, Yoko had bitten Miyagi on the head, and the mink goat was running around with her still attached to him.

Using his long legs, Bill walked up to them before they noticed him and lifted Yoko off the head of his Department's chief physician, grinning:

— Don't break what you can't fix!

Hearing his voice, Yoko turned and looked at him, and her furious expression instantly disappeared.

Amid Miyagi's cries of "Phenomenal!" the girl began to cry, and the three remained together for quite a long time.

When she calmed down, her outburst seemed to embarrass her, but Yoko did not want to leave the room, and Bill, seeing this, did not ask her, starting to question Miyagi.

Bill knew he had been in bed for a while, but he wasn't prepared for Miyagi to tell him it had been a month and a half since his battle with the Dragon.
