Chapter 12 - Chapter 12: Encountering the Sea Turtle

Although John had watched the Dragon Ball anime when he was younger, he only remembered the general plot. He wasn't familiar with the key points or the detailed content of the story.

Therefore, he didn't remember the part about Pilaf sending his henchmen to steal the Dragon Balls, so he hadn't made any specific arrangements for this situation. He was confident that with him and Goku present, there were few people on Earth who could take the Dragon Balls from them.

As John, Goku, and Bulma slept in their rooms, Mai and Shu were flying towards them in a plane, under Pilaf's command, to steal the Dragon Balls.

Pilaf's Dragon Radar was not very accurate and could only show the general location of the Dragon Balls. It indicated that three Dragon Balls were in the Valley of Dragons, so Mai and Shu were flying over the valley, searching for the Dragon Balls.

However, they knew that the three Dragon Balls in the Valley of Dragons must have been collected by someone, as it was unlikely for three Dragon Balls to be in the same place without someone gathering them.

So, Mai and Shu just needed to find the person who had the Dragon Balls.

With the mountains on both sides blocking their view, the Valley of Dragons was pitch black, and from the high altitude of the plane, Mai and Shu couldn't see the capsule house in the valley. They couldn't fly too low, as the sound of the plane's engine would wake up the person who had the Dragon Balls.

Mai landed the plane on a flat area at the top of the mountain and said to Shu, "Let's go. We'll walk to the valley and search for the Dragon Balls. Remember to bring your weapons." After opening the plane's hatch, she performed a stylish backflip and jumped out of the plane onto the mountain's surface.

The two of them used a rope to rappel down from the mountain to the valley, where they began searching.

However, they hadn't been searching for long when, in the darkness of the night, they suddenly saw many pairs of red eyes, accompanied by low growls.

Mai immediately raised her rifle and shouted, "Who's there? Come out, or we'll shoot!"

Shu, as a ninja dog, drew his sword, ready to fight. Ever since he became a henchman of Pilaf, he hadn't had a chance to show off his skills.

When the red-eyed creatures revealed themselves, Mai and Shu were startled to find themselves surrounded by a pack of wolves.

The wolves were skinny and bony, but their eyes were filled with cruelty and hunger, and they stared at Mai and Shu with red, glowing eyes.

Mai said to Shu, "Tell them to let us go. Say that we took a wrong turn."

Shu, feeling insulted, shouted, "They're wolves, and I'm a dog. How can we communicate?"

Before Mai could say anything else, a chilling wolf howl rang out, signaling the wolves to attack. The entire pack charged towards Mai and Shu.

The two of them were startled and ran towards the plane, with Mai shooting at the wolves as they ran.

In the end, they managed to reach the plane, covered in bite marks and with their clothes torn, and took off just before the wolves caught up to them.

The peaceful night quickly passed, and John and Goku were the first to wake up. Goku had planned to go out and train on his own, but John suggested, "Goku, let's spar together. It'll help us improve faster."

Goku readily accepted John's suggestion, and the two of them went outside the capsule house.

After warming up, they took their stances, and John attacked first. The two of them quickly engaged in a fierce battle.

The sound of their intense sparring woke up Bulma, who was still sleeping. She rubbed her eyes and came out of the capsule house, seeing John and Goku fighting. She grumbled, "You two crazy guys, can't you let a person sleep in peace?"

However, she only complained a little and then realized that breakfast wasn't ready. She decided to prepare breakfast for everyone.

When Bulma finished cooking and called out, "Breakfast is ready!" John and Goku ended their morning sparring session.

Both of them were sweating profusely, but they felt happy and refreshed.

John said, "Let's go back and eat breakfast. After breakfast, we'll continue our search for the Dragon Balls."

After breakfast, they washed up, and Bulma packed up the capsule house, ready to set off again.

As they were about to get into the car and continue their journey, Goku's sharp eyes spotted a stone moving on the side of the road.

Goku was intrigued and exclaimed, "John, look! There's a moving stone!"

John turned and saw that the stone was actually a giant sea turtle. He immediately remembered the sea turtle that lived with Master Roshi and said, "That's not a stone, it's a sea turtle."

John said to Bulma, "Bulma, stop the car."

Bulma didn't understand why, but she stopped the car.

The sea turtle, which had been slowly crawling towards the sea, was startled by the sound of the car stopping and immediately retreated into its shell, not daring to move.

John approached the sea turtle and asked, "Mr. Sea Turtle, do you need help?"

Hearing that the person wasn't going to eat him and was offering to help, the sea turtle poked its head out and asked, "Can you prepare some saltwater for me? I haven't had water in two days."

"Of course," John said, and he released a capsule house, providing a large bucket of saltwater for the sea turtle.

The sea turtle eagerly drank the saltwater, and Goku, curious, watched from the side. Seeing how the sea turtle was enjoying the saltwater, he asked, "Mr. Sea Turtle, is it delicious?"

The sea turtle generously handed the bucket of saltwater to Goku, and before John could stop him, Goku took a gulp of the saltwater and immediately spat it out, exclaiming, "It's so salty!"

Bulma couldn't help but laugh and handed Goku some freshwater to rinse his mouth.

After the sea turtle finished drinking, Bulma asked, "Mr. Sea Turtle, where are you going?"

The sea turtle replied, "I'm planning to return to the sea, to go home."

"The sea is in the south, 120 kilometers away. You're heading in the wrong direction," Bulma said.

"Oh! No wonder I've been walking for so many days and haven't reached the sea. I must have gone the wrong way," the sea turtle said, dejected.

Suddenly, the sea turtle seemed to remember something and said, "My master is Master Roshi. Can you help me get to the sea? I think Master Roshi will be grateful to you." As he spoke, he looked at John and Bulma with hopeful eyes.
