Chapter 357 - CHAPTER 357

King Kong Blockade and Historical Inheritance

The Border of the Land of Whirlpools

Naruto Uzumaki stood at the edge of the Land of Whirlpools, practicing the sealing techniques of the Uzumaki Clan under the guidance of the old clan leader.

Unlike standard ninjutsu, fūinjutsu (sealing techniques) specialize in containing and manipulating chakra. Unlike elemental ninjutsu, it does not require affinity with a specific chakra nature but demands immense chakra reserves and advanced control.

As an Uzumaki descendant and the Jinchūriki of the Nine-Tails (Kurama), Naruto had no trouble meeting the chakra requirements.

However, talent in sealing techniques was another matter entirely. The theories behind fūinjutsu were complex, often feeling obscure to Naruto. Even after two months of intense training, he had only managed to grasp a handful of techniques—and he had yet to fully master the Adamantine Sealing Chains (Kongō Fūsa).

After listening to another lecture from the clan leader, Naruto turned his gaze toward a restrained White Zetsu specimen captured during a previous mission.

"Old man, undo the seal on this one," Naruto requested.

The elder hesitated for a moment but complied. The White Zetsu, now unshackled, remained motionless, awaiting further orders.

Naruto began his practice session. He gathered his chakra, and suddenly, golden chains erupted from his back, slicing through the air toward the freed Zetsu.

Logically, after being restrained so many times, White Zetsu should have given up resistance entirely. Yet, its behavior was single-minded—it responded only to pre-programmed commands. Reacting swiftly, it attempted to use Wood Release (Mokuton) to create barriers while simultaneously activating the Mayfly Technique (Kagerō), phasing into the ground in an attempt to escape.

But White Zetsu had overlooked a critical flaw—the rocky terrain of the Land of Whirlpools was not as soft as Konoha's forested soil. The Mayfly Technique was ineffective here.

In less than thirty seconds, Naruto's Adamantine Chains had restrained every escaping Zetsu. However, due to a miscalculation in chakra output, one of them was accidentally crushed to death.

The old clan leader sighed in mild regret. "Naruto, where exactly did you find these creatures? They resemble humans, yet they clearly are not. If we had more of these sparring partners, training fūinjutsu would be far more efficient."

"I'm not too sure," Naruto replied nonchalantly. "Maybe they just… respawn in the wild or something."

Of course, Naruto knew the true origin of White Zetsu—they were once humans, victims of Kaguya Ōtsutsuki's Infinite Tsukuyomi, their chakra drained and their bodies transformed by the Divine Tree (Shinju). Essentially, they were little more than puppets following a fixed set of commands.

"Respawn in the wild?"

The old clan leader chuckled at the absurdity of the phrase but chose not to probe further—just as he had never asked why Naruto left Konohagakure.

As long as Naruto carried Uzumaki blood, that was enough.

The Path of Sealing

Having successfully shifted the topic, Naruto turned back to the elder.

"I think I've got the Adamantine Sealing Chains down. When can I learn the next fūinjutsu?"

The old clan leader frowned slightly and shook his head. "You're rushing, boy. Your current proficiency is nowhere near complete. If you were to leave now with such half-baked skill, it would bring shame upon the Uzumaki Clan."

Naruto resisted the urge to groan. Uzushio was wiped out decades ago, and the new Uzushio hasn't even been rebuilt. What's there to shame?

Still, he held his tongue—otherwise, the elder would launch into another lecture about the supremacy of sealing techniques.

And while Naruto actually agreed to some extent (the moon itself was sealed using Six Paths Chibaku Tensei), he understood that the power of a ninja wasn't defined by a single technique. After all, even Hashirama Senju didn't rely solely on Wood Release to unify the warring clans. True strength came from the ninja himself, not just his abilities.

After thinking for a moment, Naruto asked, "So how proficient do I need to be? I bet my sealing skills are way better than yours were at my age."

The old man snorted. "Hah! You're still leagues behind me, boy."

Then his expression grew serious. "The true test of your skill is whether you can seal the Nine-Tails itself."

"Not necessary," Naruto said with a grin. "Kurama and I are friends now. I can use his chakra whenever I want."

The elder glanced at Naruto, unimpressed. "Yes, yes. But once upon a time, Konoha and Uzushio were as close as family. That didn't stop Konoha from abandoning us when we needed them most. Power should never rest in the hands of another—it must be controlled by your own."

After a pause, the elder suddenly asked, "By the way, can the Nine-Tails hear this conversation?"

Naruto nodded. "Yeah, he's listening."

The old man immediately changed his tone, stepping closer and smiling. "Ah, I was only joking, Kurama! Since you and Naruto are partners, make sure you always have each other's backs. No betrayals, okay?"

Both Naruto and Kurama were momentarily speechless.

Kurama grumbled, This old man is weird.

To break the awkwardness, Naruto changed the subject.

"Old man, you were the one who founded the Land of Whirlpools. Do you have any advice for rebuilding Uzushio?"

The elder fell silent for a moment before sighing.

"The world keeps changing. From the Warring States Era to the current Five Great Nations system, things have shifted in ways I no longer fully understand. It's best not to rush into rebuilding blindly."

"My goal in establishing this land was simple—to give our people a place to belong. I even gave up claiming any territory from the Land of Fire. But even then, we could not stand alone… and we were ultimately destroyed."

His eyes darkened, the weight of history pressing down on his words.

For years, he had wandered the Land of Whirlpools, only to find that all the familiar faces had disappeared. Not even graves remained—the war had erased everything.

"But as long as we remember our origins, Uzushio will never be truly gone," he murmured.

Naruto, moved by the elder's words, nodded. Then a thought struck him.

"Have you recorded the history of Uzushio and our fūinjutsu techniques? These are important."

The elder smirked. "Of course. I don't need sleep, so I spent my nights compiling everything. I even placed seals on the scrolls to prevent theft."

Naruto smiled, gazing out at the sea. "Thank you, old man. How can I repay you?"

The elder grinned mischievously. "Simple—revive the Uzumaki Clan. We need more descendants."

Naruto deadpanned. "I'm not even ten yet. Isn't this a bit too much? Let's dump that responsibility on Houmon instead."

"You think I haven't already?" the old man said flatly.

Naruto fell silent, offering a moment of sympathy for Houmon.

Just then, Naruto's expression shifted as a memory from his shadow clone flowed into him.

"Sorry, old man, but I need to go. Something urgent just came up—it's about Uzushio's secrets."

"White Zetsu again?"

Naruto shook his head. "No. It's Kirigakure. Their ninjas have entered the Land of Whirlpools, heading toward Uzushio."

Without another word, he vanished in a flash of Body Flicker (Shunshin no Jutsu).

The elder watched Naruto disappear, then turned toward the sea.

Back in his time, Kirigakure had eyed the Land of Whirlpools for years. While he had once deterred them with sheer presence, his death had emboldened foreign nations. And with Konoha's indifference, Uzushio had fallen.

Now, history seemed to be repeating itself.

But this time, there was Naruto.

And as long as Naruto stood, the Land of Whirlpools would not fall so easily.
