Chapter 27 - Chapter 26 - Nightfall Organization Structure

While Lev dashed frantically from place to place, the target of his mini-revenge quest, Gallios, just stood there motionless.

"Have you guys still not caught that guy?"

Gallios spoke to his minions. He spoke while sitting on a plush and luxurious sofa.

Had he left the slums and gone to a luxurious inn? No, he hadn't. Of course, he hadn't. He was still in the slums.

He can sit on a soft sofa even in the middle of a slum street at night because he orders his minions to do so.

All his wishes must always be fulfilled by his minions, that was the Gallios motto that Lev knew well.

If Lev was still Gallios' minion, then the task of lifting the soft but heavy sofa to the middle of a narrow alley in the slums would be his job.

As it looks now.

Some of his minions were holding trays of freshly grilled meat, while on the other side were holding trays of liquor.

"Hey, how long are you playing hide and seek?"

"S-sorry, boss!"

"Haa~ Looks like I'll have to intervene directly."

He seemed to be complaining about how stupid his minions were.

Yet a disgusting smile was plastered on his face. Both ends of his lips curled upwards. 'This is a good opportunity. If I can catch that guy, I'm sure Master will recognize my skills.'

He planned to catch Lev so that he could show that he already had decent strength to his master, who was one of the nightfangs. Thus, his master would recognize him and recommend him as one of the nightfangs to the head of the Nightfall Organization in the city of Frostgard.

The hierarchical structure of the Nightfall Organization was quite simple.

The heads of the organizations that existed in the various major kingdoms on the continent of Avalon were the ones who governed the Nightfall Organization.

They were commonly referred to as Shadow Lords.

Each shadow lord had subordinates called nightfangs. They were the actual members of the Nightfall Organization.

For thugs like Gallios and his minions? They were more like petty criminals molded according to the whims of the Nightfangs individually.

However, it was not strange for Nightfang's subordinates to use the Nightfall Organization's name. Provided that they don't stand out too much or make too much noise such as exterminating ordinary people to the tune of hundreds or thousands.

If subordinates of the Nightfangs like Gallios insisted on carrying out a large-scale massacre, of course, the royal authorities would intervene. If that's the case, the superiors of the nightfall organization, or rather the Nightfang who was the master of Gallios, will not interfere even if Gallios would be killed by the royal authorities.

On the other hand, if it was just looting one or two merchants, then it would be perfectly understandable.

'Hehehe, if I am recognized by the master, then I will definitely be taught how to use Aura.'

Gallios clasped his hands, feeling as if he would soon be able to use it.

'If I can already use Aura, I'm sure I can become one of the Nightfangs.'

For now, he had to focus on capturing the one person who had killed many of his subordinates over the past week. No kidding, the number of people that person killed reached over a hundred.

If he left it unchecked, he might lose all of his minions.

Gallios felt there was something strange about the man who killed his minions.

Over the past week, the area where that person appeared was always in an area where he could not reach—or, he would be too late to reach. Moreover, that person never approached the base where he was at.

'That person must have memorized the layout of this slum.'

To memorize this slum was not an easy matter.

A slum was not an area where one small square was tens of meters wide. If calculated in total, the area of the slum may be the same as the area of a small city out there.

Especially with the street layout, narrow alleys, and all the other strange obstacles.

'Is that person a resident of this slum?'

Gallios began to wonder.

Shake! Shake!

His suspicions and cautions about the person who killed his subordinate fell out of his brain as he shook his head.

The contents of his head turned into a picture of him rising in rank, gaining power, and committing even worse crimes.

Not long after, one of his minions who had gone after Lev returned holding a bloody hand.

"B-Boss, it looks like we've lost that guy."

"...Useless bastard."

Gallios threw the whore in his arms and closed his eyes to use one of the skills he had.

The skill he was referring to was the Death Mark skill.

He could be that relaxed from the start because he had put the Death Mark on Lev.

Even though he had put the Death Mark on Lev, he couldn't always sense Lev's presence. Only when he concentrated, could he sense him.

He had already sensed Lev's whereabouts earlier.

Surprisingly Lev didn't go out of the slum. He was just running around. Hence Gallios was still calm.

'Does he want to hide and launch a surprise attack when I go after him?'

'Unfortunately, that guy's plan wouldn't work,' Gallios thought.

Gallios laughed inwardly.

"Hmm?"

When he opened his eyes as he could already sense Lev's presence, he widened his eyes in shock.

The presence of Lev that he sensed was very close to him.

A tense air was felt by Gallios' survival instinct. His goosebumps immediately stood up, indicating that he was being threatened with a deadly disaster.

He immediately entered the fighting mode.

He drew both daggers on his back.

Slash!

Just as he drew both daggers, he heard a sword slash.

He thought that there was an attack heading towards him so he reflexively jumped very high in the air.

'What is it?'

When he finished landing on the ground, he looked even more confused as nothing seemed to have happened.

There was no appearance of someone swinging a sword at him.

His eyeballs were rolling as they followed his swirling thoughts of confusion.

Especially when he suddenly lost his balance and landed both feet on the ground.

"Eh?"

Not only did he lose his balance like someone stepping on dirt, but when he tried to balance his body back with both feet, he instead knelt on the ground.

Both of his hands came to actually hold the accidental dirt that was on the path where the water flowed by the roadside.

Despite knowing that his hands were already covered in human feces, he didn't seem to care much—Though, he would have reacted to cleaning up the dirt on his hands if this was an ordinary day.

His attention was drawn to one of his feet.

...Apparently, one of his legs was already half cut off.

It would have been nice if it had been cut off from the body—it would be easy to imagine, but it was right at the shin that the leg was half cut off. The blood, flesh, and muscle tissue on his leg were clearly exposed in the air. The blood gushed without following a clear pattern, pooling on the ground with the dirt on the ground.

He did not feel the pain immediately—the shock numbed him for a moment before a wave of pain hit. "Arrgghh!" He shouted while trying to fix his half-cut leg.

After feeling that he had fixed his leg properly, he picked up random pieces of wood around him to use as splints. With the piece of cloth from tearing his shirt, he managed to prevent excessive blood from escaping from the wound.

"WHO IS IT? WHO ATTACKED ME?"

Gallios shouted loudly, thinking that one of his men had betrayed him... When he turned around, there was one person sitting casually on the plush sofa where he had been leaning back deliciously earlier.

It was Lev.
