Chapter 7 - Chapter Four - Before Canonical II

Part II - (I'm a Demigod)

Hours passed of a childish competition between two young people, who didn't even pay attention when the sound of a lock rang and a brown-haired woman, wearing a light brown dress, entered their apartment.

The woman had white skin, blue eyes, and a face that would be more beautiful if it weren't for the small dark circles she had after working hours and some overtime.

Soon she heard the sound of gunshots ringing out from the living room, with a smile. She went to where her son should be. It was then that the sounds of gunshots and explosions gave way to laughter and laughter from two young people competing with each other.

Sally entered the room only to see her boy and the person she loved most in this world with another boy of the same age, this one had a scar on his left eye and his skin was more tanned than Percy's.

Soon her son came to his mother standing at the door and called her. "Oh finally, it took you a while to get here today, how are you?"

Walking towards her little Prince, Sally gave him a kiss on the cheek, leaving a young man embarrassed and a boy unknown to her laughing at her son's expense.

"Hey Percy I didn't know you had such a pretty sister." The boy next to her son commented it was Sally's turn to be embarrassed by the comment of her son's new friend. Percy on the other hand just lightly elbowed Dante.

"Idiot that's my mother!"

Scratching his head and looking embarrassed Dante apologized to Sally. "Oh sorry Mrs. Jackson, I didn't think this loser's mother was so pretty."

Percy rolled his eyes at Dante. "Give me five more minutes I'll make you eat those words, Dante."

Both young men began to argue childishly about the game they were playing, Sally in turn found it immensely amusing how her son had found a new friend.

One who wasn't a disguised Satyr, she thought watching both boys compete oblivious to her still being there.

Clapping her hands to get his attention she smiled saying. "So you must be Dante, huh? Percy talked a lot about you, said you're also the captain of the soccer team, and dragged him into the team."

Deep down she was grateful that someone other than Grover and Chiron were interacting with Percy, moreover to the point of dragging him to join a club.

"Oh it was nothing Mrs. Jackson, Percy is good with a ball so I thought it would be fun for him and me to start playing together at the club."

Sally smiled, this boy was very respectful and even more so had the good charisma to force her stubborn son to do something that would not get him into trouble.

"No need to call me Mrs., I feel a little old when people say that, how about I start making dinner and we all sit down at the table to eat."

.

A little while passed before everyone was sitting at the table, they almost looked like a complete family.

They both ate and talked about their day, Sally was surprised that Dante lived alone, having lived for so long in an orphanage. It was a little sad to have been abandoned by his father since his mother died at his birth.

"So what do you want to be when you grow up Dante?" Sally turned to Dante who shrugged.

"I've always wanted to be someone to be remembered, I think I'd like to become a Tycoon of some big company or a Politician, what about you Percy?"

The son of Poseidon swallowed the piece of fried wing he was eating before cringing under his mother's piercing gaze.

"I never thought about it, I always wanted to work somewhere with a lot of water, a water park or something." He shrugged, never really thinking about what he wanted to do after graduating from college, and with his attention deficit it was kind of hard to get good grades.

"It's good that you two have some dream you want to achieve."

Everyone accepted what the older woman said and soon went back to other topics and conversations.

An hour later.

Good things usually don't last long and that was how it was with the nice dinner the trio was having. The sound of the door was heard, Dante noticed Sally's trembling hands and Percy's pale face which looked like he had seen a ghost.

The demigod son of Zeus was powerful beyond measure due to the long two years in which he subjected himself to the most arduous training. He soon noticed the fear in Sally and Percy's eyes, when they both saw a man middle-aged, with pale skin, dark brown eyes, and overweight.

"Hey bitch, who's that kid in my house?" The man was rude beyond measure and Dante felt a vein throb in his forehead when Gaby called Sally a bitch.

But he calmed down just as he had been told in his training, he kept his mind calm and ready for anything.

"G..Gaby, that's no way to talk to a guest." She said with a bit of nervousness in her tone but Dante would still admire her for the little courage she had.

It was then that Gaby looked at Percy with a smile that made Dante sick

'I hope nothing too serious has happened in this house.' Dante thought.

"Hump! I don't care, bitch, go fix my dinner!" He went straight to the bathroom to take a shower while Percy and Sally sighed in relief.

They both looked at Dante with shame written on their faces. Percy didn't look his friend in the eye, not wanting to see how much his new friend saw him as a coward.

"So... it was nice to meet you, Dante. Sorry for the inconvenience." Sally looked almost on the verge of tears but she held her ground before leaving, as did Percy who went straight to his room, not even looking at Dante. The shame and self-loathing were too great in the mind of the son of Poseidon.

Dante sighed as soon as he was left alone, a part of him didn't want to get involved but there was no way he could let a situation like this continue to exist, not when he could avoid it.

Sighing he got up and went to the kitchen where Sally was preparing Gaby's dinner.

Dante was good at hiding and soon he was a few meters away from Sally watching the beautiful woman shed tears, making an effort to try to find himself but they stubbornly continued to fall.

"I see that things aren't so good, are they?" The demigod commented, startling Sally, who turned to face the young man who was leaning against the wall with his arms crossed.

His eyes no longer had the joy she had seen when they talked and laughed among themselves at the table. The air around him seemed to be that of a much older man.

"D..Dante. What are you doing here? I thought you had already left?" Sally asked, quickly wiping away her tears as she turned her face to the side.

"I would like to know why a beautiful woman like you stays with a bastard like that?"

Sally had asked herself this many times in her life but in the end, she always came up with the same answer.

Love... for her son who would have a relatively normal life for some time, to protect him from monsters and Gods who would try to take his life, yes she loved her son too much to allow anything bad to happen to him. Unfortunately, no one could understand her sacrifice.

"He protects us in a way you wouldn't understand." She said sadly, this was the answer she gave Percy many years ago before he moved permanently to one of the dormitories at his school.

She could already see the grimace Dante would have and soon he would leave never to return, but he didn't.

"Hmph... your sacrifice is admirable, but I think it's time for you to live better than this Mrs. Jackson."

Sally didn't understand what the boy wanted to tell her but it was time for her to send him home before Gaby got violent, she couldn't live well with herself if he got hurt. It was strange but for the short time that she had with him, she felt happy even with the small conversations they had.

"Dante I think you better go, it's getting late, don't worry about me and Percy tomorrow he should return to the dorms."

Dante on the other hand didn't hear anything Sally said but in the next second, he said something that shook the older woman.

"He's the son of Poseidon, isn't he?"

That simple question made Sally feel like someone had punched her in the stomach, she looked at the boy, but this time fear formed inside her.

Was he a monster who managed to find Percy, a God coming here to kill him? Unanswered questions circulated in her mind, in the end, Dante raised his hand in a gesture of hands that she could not understand but she was immediately captivated by the words of the twelve-year-old boy.

"Calm down, I didn't come here to hurt you, just let's talk."

Sally soon seemed to feel as if all the fear and panic were suddenly swallowed up, she still felt afraid but it was not much, she felt overwhelmed and wanted to follow the words of the young man.

"Great now that you've calmed down we can talk, the first thing I'll tell you is that I'm not some kind of monster or God and I just want to help you because I liked you, simple as that."

Sally swallowed hard, wondering why someone who barely knew her would want to help her and her son. "Who are you?"

It was the woman's question to which Dante just shrugged as lightning flashed from his hand, astonishment spread to Sally Jackson's face.

"I am a demigod, son of Zeus." Dante replied his eyes an electric glow as well as his hands.

.

It took some time for Dante to explain things to Sally until she finally understood.

"So you can help me with the problems we have here at home is that it?" She didn't know why this boy she barely knew was helping her against that monster in the form of a man, but honestly, she was reaching the point of desperation and really wanted a way out.

"Yes, I saw that you and Percy seem to have a pretty complicated life with that bastard, but I can help you, of course on one condition."

Sally shook her head. "I don't have much money if that's what you want, I don't think I can help you."

Dante on the other hand just laughed. "Money isn't a problem for me at the moment, so let's just say I need someone to work in my house, and also help me after my hunts."

Sally looked at him with curiosity and suspicion. "Hunting?"

Shrugging, Dante replied, "I occasionally hunt monsters on the weekends, part of the constant training I do. Percy said you worked as a nurse, so I kind of need your help when I get back from my hunts."

It was a good deal. Dante had hunted many monsters throughout the city over time. Despite having some first aid skills, it was also a fact that he needed someone to help him if he got too injured, something that happened a few times, but thanks to Styx, he was still alive.

Of course, his words were also only half-truths, since the son of Zeus simply wanted to keep Sally Jackson close, and Percy too. Both of them together would be an unbeatable duo, and perhaps one day fighting the Gods if they tried something would not be impossible. But that was his final plan in case any God tried to kill him out of fear or simply because his ego was hurt.

But oblivious to Dante's thoughts, Sally thought to herself what this undeniably powerful boy wanted, if he was neither a God nor a monster. So why wouldn't a demigod his age be at the camp? Perhaps Chiron sent him? Or did Zeus himself send one of his sons to kill his own? Questions and more unanswered questions that would lead her nowhere, she would have to give him a vote of confidence for now. If he really wanted them dead, she had no doubt that he could kill her with an electric shock. Percy wouldn't last long either, after all, he was never trained.

With a resigned sigh, she accepted whatever her fate might be. "I'm willing to work for you, on the condition that you protect my son from any danger."

Dante smiled. He found it admirable how the woman in front of him was capable of sacrificing herself and thinking about her son even though she knew that they would both be living in different worlds, which if they had to be compared would be identical to the division between Heaven and Earth.

"Okay, I'll find a way so that Gaby doesn't give you any trouble. He'll still be alive since his scent is a natural repellent against monsters."

Sally looked at him in surprise, not believing that this boy could do something like that, or that he knew why she was with Gaby. "Can you really do something like that?"

The son of Zeus shrugged indifferently. "I have learned to manipulate the mist to a certain extent, I can mess with the minds of the weakest mortals."

Sally nodded, understanding that there was much more to the world of the Gods that she would probably never understand.

"Well, I'll give you the address of my house, your new job is simple, clean, sweep, make that delicious food that you are capable of and on the weekends be ready for when I return from some fight."

Dante dictated Sally's new duties, indecent about anything, he had a big house, and whenever he wanted he could steal money even from a bank if he used the mist as a weapon.

Money was no problem, but he would like to avoid the constant trips to the hospital, for a broken rib or two after an unfortunate fight with a Cyclops clan or a group of Empusas.

"Wait! Are you giving me a job?" Sally asked a little surprised, but Dante didn't seem to care.

"Yes, as I said there was a condition and this is your condition you must work at least two days a week cleaning the house and things as a maid, and on the weekends you will work as a nurse since it's a pain to use my powers every time I go to the hospital after a fractured rib." It was Dante's simple answer that made Sally stay quiet.
