Chapter 103
Cameron
I get a sudden burst of strength because I'm afraid of what that vampire will do if he reaches the pack grounds.
I jump, and tackle him, swiping at him with my claws.
We crash into the dirt in a tangle of limbs and snarls, rolling twice before slamming against the base of an old oak.
The impact jars through my bones, but I don't let go. My claws dig into his shoulders, pinning him, and for one wild second I think,I have him.
Then he laughs.
Low. Amused. Completely unafraid.
"Fast learner," he says, his crimson eyes gleaming up at me. "But messy."
His knee drives into my stomach. The air explodes from my lungs. I wheeze, grip loosening just enough—
He shoves.
I fly backward, hit the ground hard, and skid across the leaves. My wolf scrabbles to rise, but my body feels slow, heavy. The vampire stands, brushes dirt from his sleeve, and looks at me like I'm a child who threw a tantrum.
"Cute," he says. "But I really must be going."
