Chapter 544: Seasickness
Tenten was utterly confused. "Sensei, haven't you been to the Land of Water on missions before? I remember Ino saying that you and Senior Genma went on a mission to the Hidden Mist Village. How did you end up like this?"
Might Guy lay face down, stiff as a board on the wooden bed.
The sailboat was actually sailing quite smoothly, but his body still swayed uncontrollably with the waves.
Watching him sway back and forth, even Tenten and Neji started to feel dizzy.
Might Guy shakily raised his right hand and gave a thumbs-up, signaling that he was fine.
Tenten was speechless. "Fine, my foot! You're in this state, just stop pretending to be tough."
Lee rushed into the room excitedly. "Sensei, you must be sick! Let me give you my medicine, you'll definitely feel better after drinking it."
Even someone who wasn't a medical-nin knew that different people take different medicines; you couldn't just take them randomly.
Tenten and Neji quickly pulled the foolish boy away.
Lee looked baffled. "Why are you stopping me? Isn't this medicine? Sensei will get better if he takes it."
Neji patiently explained, "Lee, not all medicine is the same. And Sensei isn't sick, he's just seasick..."
He himself found it hard to believe. Their teacher, who usually seemed like a robot completely oblivious to fatigue, actually had a weakness like seasickness. For ninja whose bodies were far superior to ordinary people's, capable of moving mountains and parting seas, seasickness was an incredibly distant concept. You probably couldn't find one seasick ninja in ten thousand…
As a jonin, his analytical skills were top-notch.
Even without being a medical-nin, he knew some basic principles. "I was hoping we could conserve our stamina, but I didn't expect this. I remember that seasickness is mainly caused by an issue with the brain's balance system. Tenten, you've studied medical ninjutsu. Is there any way to treat this?"
In his mind, Guy-sensei had trained his body so much that even his brain had turned to muscle! Brain atrophy! But that wasn't something he could say out loud.
Tenten was the classic case of someone who "studied literature for three years and failed the exam, then took up martial arts, fired one arrow at the practice grounds, and hit the drum officer."
In her quest to follow in the footsteps of her idol, Tsunade, she had tried her hand at medical ninjutsu, summoning jutsu, ninjutsu, and taijutsu, only to end up being a master of none!
She hadn't even gotten her foot in the door with any of them, but she had dabbled in medical ninjutsu for a few days and read a couple of medical books.
Tenten reluctantly examined Might Guy, only to find that it was just ordinary seasickness. There was really nothing to say, except that Might Guy's symptoms were about ten times more severe than an ordinary person's.
Seeing that she was helpless, Neji proposed the final solution.
"We've trained on the sea before; normal water-walking shouldn't affect Guy-sensei. How about this: Lee, Tenten, and I will take turns carrying Guy-sensei and run on the water to the target location. If Guy-sensei still hasn't recovered by then, we'll hide him somewhere beforehand."
The three of them immediately abandoned the ship and took turns carrying Might Guy.
And what do you know, lying on Lee's back, Might Guy's seasickness immediately eased. His head was still dizzy, but his body was already starting to readjust.
Neji signaled for the team to set off at once, heading to support Hayate Gekko at his coordinates.
As Ino's deputy in the Intelligence Division, Aoba Yamashiro was aware of Madara Uchiha's revival. He just hadn't expected to encounter such a formidable enemy while searching for the Three-Tails.
What he expected even less was that Mei Terumi had been hiding in the shadows all along. This Mizukage was also a deep thinker, likely planning to let Konoha do all the hard work of searching, only to swoop in at the end waving the flag of morality to reap the benefits.
But at this moment, Mei Terumi was undoubtedly a powerful ally for the Konoha ninja. Without her, they would have no way to slow Madara Uchiha's advance.
"Lady Mizukage," Aoba Yamashiro said respectfully.
Mei Terumi had been beaten into a rather sorry state by Madara. She had used her signature Boil Release and Lava Release techniques repeatedly, but none had managed to inflict much damage on the enemy.
She was in no mood for pleasantries and pointed at Madara, demanding of Aoba, "Who is this guy? You should know, right?"
Aoba knew the Mizukage already had an answer in her heart, so he didn't hide it. "It should be Madara Uchiha."
"How old is Madara Uchiha? The man I just fought for over thirty exchanges doesn't look like an old man."
"...According to our investigation, he was only recently revived."
Mei Terumi was very displeased. "Recently revived? I recall that when the Five Great Shinobi Villages formed an alliance, it was agreed that we would share information. Is this how Konoha shares information? Keeping us in the dark about something this huge? And what about that girl from the Yamanaka clan? Isn't she going to come and eliminate her own village's rogue ninja?"
Aoba, wearing his sunglasses, replied calmly, "Lady Ino is still in the Land of Rain. I hear she just eliminated the Hidden Mist's rogue ninja, Kisame Hoshigaki."
Mei Terumi snorted dismissively. "What do we do now? If it weren't for my interference, your esteemed Madara Uchiha would have already captured the Three-Tails."
"Naturally, we will follow Lady Mizukage's orders."
"And the Three-Tails?"
"The Three-Tails has always belonged to the Hidden Mist Village."
Mei Terumi secretly rolled her eyes. If a powerful enemy hadn't appeared, you absolutely wouldn't be saying that!
She looked at the lineup of Konoha ninja, her brow furrowed. There wasn't a single heavy hitter among them. What did that mean? It meant she still had to face Madara Uchiha head-on.
Aoba encouraged her, "I've already notified the village. The Hokage will receive the message and come to support us soon. Also, Might Guy is very close. He should arrive here before anyone else."
Might Guy had been dealing with the Hidden Stone Village on the western front, so Mei Terumi's impression of him was faint. She only knew he was a very strong taijutsu specialist.
In reality, notifying the Hidden Mist Village now would also be a good choice, but she didn't want her own village's ninja to come here and die. Since she didn't bring it up, Aoba pretended he hadn't thought of it either.
"Hmph, users of the Flying Thunder God Technique are always the ones who are around all the time but are never there when it counts." Despite her grumbling, she quickly formed hand seals and shot a stream of Lava Release at Madara Uchiha.
Knowing this technique could melt his Susano'o, Madara didn't take it head-on. He hid behind the Three-Tails, using its hard shell to block the attack.
The Three-Tails roared in pain, and the progress of the Sharingan's control over it regressed a step.
"Let's support the Mizukage and attack!"
Aoba gave the order to the twelve Konoha ninja who had followed him.
He knew his own limits, and he knew the enemy's strength even better.
Ninja from the intelligence department had seen their fair share of dirty business; they wouldn't be as reckless as Hayate Gekko.
After observing patiently for a moment, Aoba formed hand seals, gathering chakra in his throat. As Mei Terumi used her Water Formation Wall to defend against Madara's fire jutsu, he launched a ninjutsu from the side.
"Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique!"
