Chapter 414: The Death of Raiga Kurosuki
"You bastard, stop!" Konohamaru, wearing his blue scarf, shouted as instructed and threw a kunai with the "Boar" seal marker at Raiga Kurosuki from eight hundred meters away.
This distance was too great. Never mind that Konohamaru, a half-grown child, had little strength; even if he did, even if he were a reincarnated human catapult, at a distance of eight hundred meters, even the dullest ninja would have reacted.
Raiga Kurosuki had lost an arm, and his combat power had plummeted, but the reaction speed of a former elite jonin was still there.
He sneered, saw through the kunai's flight path, and ignored it completely. The thunder blade in his hand still slashed fiercely at Hayate Gekko's neck.
I'm going to die this time!
Just by raising his katana less than thirty centimeters, the severely injured Hayate Gekko had exhausted all his strength. In the days to come, I can no longer accompany Yugao. What a pity.
The speed of his life flashing before his eyes was not as fast as Raiga Kurosuki's blade. Just when he thought he was bound to die.
A crisp "clang" sounded in his ear.
Ino drew her chakra blade, similarly imbuing it with Lightning Release chakra. Using the special kunai she had given to Konohamaru as a springboard, she used the Flying Thunder God Technique at the critical moment to intercept Raiga Kurosuki's certain-kill blow.
Seeing her appear, the other's anger surged, but Raiga's strength was not superior. With one arm missing, his taijutsu was at least halved. He was no match for the current Ino.
"Raiga Kurosuki? You, a defeated foe, dare to show your face again?" Ino showed no fear at her old opponent's reappearance. She wasn't afraid back then, let alone now.
"For Ranmaru! You must all die!"
"Nonsense."
Ino's right hand parried the thunder blade. She took a breath and spat out dozens of water needles condensed from Water Release chakra at Raiga Kurosuki.
"Water Release: Heavenly Weeping!"
Raiga Kurosuki was crazy, but the foundation of a former elite jonin was still there.
He brandished his thunder blade with one arm to parry, but the distance was too close. He was still hit by Heavenly Weeping, and five or six bloody holes were punched in his body. His mangled appearance was comparable to Hayate Gekko's.
The kunai thrown by Konohamaru was still in flight. Ino used the Flying Thunder God for a second time, this time appearing behind Raiga Kurosuki. Her right hand was raised high, a ball of pale blue chakra in her palm.
"Rasengan!"
Raiga Kurosuki sensed the danger behind him at the critical moment. He burst out with all his potential, and ignoring the crisp sound from his spine, he forcefully turned and blocked the front with his thunder blade.
The Rasengan and the thunder blade were deadlocked for half a second.
"Great Ball Rasengan!" In the blink of an eye, Ino increased her chakra output again.
Raiga Kurosuki held the sword with one hand. The high-speed rotating chakra of the Great Ball Rasengan continuously struck the thunder blade. The blade of the famous Mist sword was soon covered in cracks.
In the final moments of his life, Raiga Kurosuki became clear-headed. He recalled the scene when he first obtained the thunder blade and also saw the killing intent in Ino's eyes. Forget it, I'm tired too. This is it.
He withdrew the thunder blade and took the Great Ball Rasengan with his chest.
With a muffled "thump," Raiga Kurosuki's flesh, bones, and skin were completely shredded by the rotating Great Ball Rasengan.
Ino reached out and caught the thunder blade falling from the air.
The thunder blades were a pair, but now there was only one. She looked at it; the blade was covered in cracks. Although Raiga Kurosuki had withdrawn his defense at the last moment, this sword had also reached the end of its life.
Ino gripped the hilt with her right hand, and pinched the tip of the blade with her left index finger and thumb. Using Tsunade's monster strength method, she concentrated chakra in her arms and then forcefully bent.
With a "crack," this famous sword forged in the era of the Second Mizukage was snapped in two by her.
"Scrap metal! Nothing special!"
Everything happened too fast. One second, Raiga Kurosuki was trying to take Hayate Gekko's head; the next, he was blown to smithereens, and the famous sword he had used for many years was thrown like trash at Mei Terumi's feet.
"Big Sis is the greatest!" Konohamaru shouted excitedly in the distance.
Hayate Gekko also let out the breath he had been holding and collapsed limply.
"Please protect these children," he said, his voice as faint as a mosquito's buzz.
Ino nodded. "I will. Rest well."
She considered her medical ninjutsu to be very strong, but this was not the right time for treatment. She could only have the "not-so-strong" Slug Sage treat Hayate Gekko in her stead.
"Lady Katsuyu, it's this guy again. Please heal him."
Katsuyu looked at Hayate Gekko. Although humans all looked about the same to her—she distinguished Tsunade and Ino by their chakra and aura—this time she found that she recognized the patient before her. It's you again? Why is it always you? You Konoha ninja are so unlucky!
In the next second, Ino teleported to the other side to help Iruka fight off Zabuza Momochi, who was also wearing a Mist Anbu uniform.
Iruka had truly surpassed himself. To protect Udon and Moegi, he had unleashed nearly one hundred and fifty percent of his combat power. He had been slashed three times by Zabuza and was still fighting through gritted teeth.
The next to be rescued was the special jonin from Genma Shiranui's squad, Raido Namiashi.
Then it was Inoichi's subordinate, and now Ino's direct subordinate, the chunin from the Analysis Team, Domae.
Then the chunin from the Nara clan, Kasuga Nara.
After that, Ino searched the camp for two rounds before finding a ninja who had been slammed into the ground by a Water Dragon Bullet: the special jonin from the Aburame clan, Muta Aburame.
"Well, well, you're pretty well hidden," Ino complained quietly.
Wearing sunglasses, the 20-year-old Muta Aburame did not argue. Yes, yes, whatever you say.
Konoha had actually left many special jonin and chunin in the rear camp. The reason the scene was so tragic was that the Mist's surprise attack was too sudden.
In addition, there was the Kage-level combatant Mei Terumi. Several people were severely injured in the first exchange.
Ino moved back and forth, rushing to more than ten places in a matter of seconds, saving a large number of Konoha ninja.
Among the leadership of the Konoha army, only two did not wear the standard uniform vest: Tsunade and Ino. Even Shizune obediently wore the jonin vest.
Ninja battles didn't involve setting up a large banner or anything. People like Tsunade and Ino who didn't wear vests were iconic figures. It was a display of being highly skilled and daring, which very easily attracted focused fire, but it could also effectively stabilize their own side's morale.
Sure enough, seeing her appear, the numerous wounded and civilian-post ninja in the rear camp quickly gathered towards her as if they had found their backbone.
She handed over the severely wounded to Katsuyu, then looked at Mei Terumi.
"Lady Mizukage, why did you betray the alliance? We just formed it a few days ago. If you encountered trouble, we could have solved it together. If I couldn't solve it, there's still Lady Tsunade and Lord Jiraiya."
