After running for ten minutes, Cassidy and Butch finally stopped to catch their breath. They had made sure Green hadn't followed them and had actually let them escape.
"Butch, is this really okay? We've told her everything. Can we actually trust her not to expose us?" Cassidy asked with worry written across her face. The thought of the organization discovering their betrayal terrified her.
Team Rocket operated with a clear system of rewards and punishments. Members were rewarded for their achievements and punished for their failures. Even the three executives weren't exempt from this rule - they had returned from their defeat against Eddie and received their punishment accordingly.
However, for powerful members like the executives, punishment usually meant nothing more than fines and salary deductions - inconvenient but not particularly painful. For others, the consequences weren't nearly as lenient. Still, for relatively minor infractions, the punishments remained manageable.
But for those who betrayed the organization or leaked classified information - these were considered the most serious offenses. Team Rocket made sure such traitors understood what it truly meant to suffer a fate worse than death. It was precisely because of these strict rules that Team Rocket had grown so powerful. Everyone competed to complete missions and make contributions, hoping to earn what they desired. How could such an organization not be formidable?
"Cassidy, I'm actually grateful I didn't share certain inside information with you earlier. Otherwise, we'd truly be dead by now," Butch replied with a sneer at her question.
"You don't know what our organization is really doing at those four locations, but I do. I just set a trap for that girl," he continued, noting Cassidy's surprised expression with slight pride.
"Come closer, I'll tell you," Butch said, glancing around to ensure no one was within earshot before whispering in Cassidy's ear.
"The Seafoam Islands, the Power Plant, and Indigo Plateau - these three places are rumored to be home to Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres respectively. We're going to these locations to capture the three legendary birds. As for Saffron City, that's our headquarters and the first city we must secure."
"Once the organization captures the three legendary birds, we'll be stronger than the entire Kanto region. With Trump Cards like the legendary birds, the region won't stand a chance against us!"
As a Team Rocket member who frequently used the organization's advanced technology, Butch had complete faith that they could successfully capture the three legendary birds. With those legendary Pokémon under their control, they would possess power beyond anything the Kanto region could muster!
"Such an ambitious plan! But then we are..." Cassidy was naturally shocked by the scope of the operation, but then she suddenly remembered that she and Butch had just betrayed the organization. Her face darkened considerably.
"What are you worried about? This area is very close to the Seafoam Islands, so that girl must have gone to investigate," Butch said dismissively.
"But as far as I know, Team Rocket has almost completely occupied the Seafoam Islands now. Our people are everywhere. If that girl is discovered there, even though she's an elite trainer, she definitely won't be a match for our entire operation."
"More importantly, according to the intelligence I've received, it seems they're close to locating Articuno. They'll capture it soon, and if that girl runs into the operation at this time, she's as good as dead!"
Butch sneered, as if he could already see Green frozen solid by Articuno's ice attacks.
When Cassidy heard this, she felt both relief and a dark satisfaction. Relief because if Green died, no one would know about today's events. Satisfaction because she had grown to hate Green intensely. If she weren't so weak, she would have wanted to eliminate Green herself. Unfortunately, they were powerless and couldn't do anything about it...
"Why are you both sneering like that? Are you planning something to trick me again?"
At that moment, a voice that was all too familiar to Cassidy and Butch rang out. Their sneering expressions froze instantly. Like robots, they turned their heads toward the source of the voice.
There stood Eddie with a cheerful smile on his face. Their hearts sank completely.
"Well, well, so you're here. It seems your initial plan was to create a distraction and lure me away so you could come here and cause trouble," Eddie observed.
Having just arrived at this location, Eddie had immediately spotted Cassidy and Butch in the Safari Zone. At this point, if he still didn't understand the purpose behind their earlier behavior, he might as well give up being a trainer entirely.
"B-Big brother, how did you get here so fast..." Butch stared at Eddie in disbelief, wondering how he had arrived so quickly. According to his calculations, Eddie should have just finished dealing with the cave situation and should still be walking here slowly.
"I had quite an enjoyable battle in the cave, but I felt a bit restless walking here slowly afterward, so I flew here directly on my Charizard. Fortunately, I did fly here, otherwise I wouldn't have found you two now..."
Eddie patiently explained to Butch and Cassidy, making sure they understood the concept of "flying."
Seeing Eddie's bright smile, Cassidy and Butch felt like crying. They had just escaped from Green's pursuit, only to turn around and encounter Eddie. They were convinced this was definitely their unlucky day.
However, no amount of complaining would help their situation. Eddie wasn't going to let them off just because of these two's pleading.
"Normally, Pikachu and Jolteon would be sufficient to give you an electric shock, but since you dared to play tricks on me today, I think I'll double the treatment," Eddie said, seeming to have thought of an excellent idea as he casually threw several Poké Balls.
Snorlax, Gardevoir, and Gengar were all released onto the field. These were all Pokémon capable of using Thunderbolt attacks.
"Are you ready? Don't worry, I won't electrocute you to death - at most, you'll just fly a bit farther than usual," Eddie said considerately to Cassidy and Butch, his expression cheerful.
What else could Butch and Cassidy say? They could only be grateful that Eddie wasn't threatening to torture them for Team Rocket information like Green had done. Still, getting electrocuted was inevitable.
What they didn't realize was that Eddie, being both a time traveler and reborn, already knew all of Team Rocket's information. There was no need for him to interrogate these two. If Eddie had really wanted to extract information through torture, he could have done so when he first encountered the Team Rocket trio. There was no need to question these two specifically.
"Everyone, control your power. Use Thunderbolt to give them a good shock, then send them flying," Eddie commanded.
Following his orders, Pikachu, Jolteon, Gardevoir, Gengar, and Snorlax all fired Thunderbolt attacks directly at Cassidy and Butch, who had already given up any resistance.
The crackling electrical current made them convulse continuously as they experienced the shocking sensation of five simultaneous Thunderbolt attacks.
Seeing this, Eddie nodded approvingly and signaled his Pokémon to launch them into the sky.
"Pika~~~~chu!" Pikachu cried out cutely, and all the Pokémon increased their power while directing their attacks toward the ground beneath Butch and Cassidy's feet.
"BOOM!"
"Ahhhhhh! What a terrible day this has been!"
The explosion launched the two Team Rocket members high into the air, their screams fading as they disappeared into the distance.
