Chapter 47 - 47. Treecko

Eddie did not open the envelope but threw the Poké Ball.

A white light flashed, and a small green Pokémon appeared.

Its body was a vibrant grass green, with a darker shade on its tail, a rose-red belly, and large yellow eyes. Its hands and feet had three fingers each, round like small spheres, and two ridges adorned the top of its head.

Eddie looked at the familiar Pokémon without surprise, remaining calm as he pulled out his Pokédex.

Name: Treecko

Type: Grass

Ability: Overgrow (Boosts the power of Grass-type moves by 1.5 times when HP is low)

Level: 5

Potential: Quasi-Elite

Moves: Pound, Leer, Absorb

"I was just about to catch a Grass-type Pokémon, and now the perfect one has been delivered right to me," Eddie mused.

He wasn't surprised to see Treecko, one of the Hoenn region's three starter Pokémon. What caught him off guard was how he had just been thinking about catching a Grass-type Pokémon, only for one to appear before him.

What was the saying? Like having a pillow delivered when you're feeling sleepy?

"Emmm, never mind. This saves me the trouble of searching for one," he muttered.

Eddie didn't dwell on the reason—it wasn't a bad thing, after all. He extended his hand toward Treecko with a warm smile.

Treecko observed its new Trainer. Thanks to the Power of Viridian, it could sense Eddie's kindness.

In response, Treecko reached out and shook Eddie's hand instead of letting him pat its head.

The sight of a Trainer and Pokémon shaking hands looked amusing.

"Alright, it's getting late. You should head to the Pokémon Center and rest up. I look forward to battling you at full strength next time we meet," Brock said casually. After greeting Eddie, he waved and headed back to the Gym.

Eddie snapped back to reality, realizing the sky had already turned a golden hue—it was dusk.

After some thought, he returned Treecko to its Poké Ball and made his way to the Pokémon Center.

Pewter City, Pokémon Center – Trainer's Room

Eddie lay comfortably on the bed in his room, stretching lazily.

Nearby, Charmeleon, Frogadier, and the newest addition, Treecko, were enjoying their dinner.

"In just one day—no, half a day—I feel like I've been through so much. I'm exhausted," Eddie sighed.

He pulled up his Trainer panel, glancing at everything he had gained that day. It felt almost unbelievable.

"As usual, let's go over my progress."

Name: Morning Sun

Trainer Rank: Intermediate Trainer

Pokédex Entries: 33

Owned Pokémon: 22

Badges: 1

Current Location: Kanto Region

"My Pokédex count increased by six—Bulbasaur, Pikachu, Frogadier, Onix, Aerodactyl, and Treecko. That checks out."

Confirming the numbers, Eddie switched to the item panel. His Gym battle had earned him some valuable rewards.

Here's your edited text with improved readability and proper Pokémon terminology:

After this Gym match, almost everything was prepared for training a Grass-type Pokémon. Even the Gold Bottle Cap, which was a reward for making the list, was perfect for Treecko.

"What a coincidence. Is this luck too?" Eddie mused, glancing at the rewards he had earned. The corners of his mouth lifted slightly.

Coincidence, luck, or something orchestrated—it didn't matter. As long as he could grow stronger, what problem couldn't be solved?

"Treecko can learn a lot of moves. Let's go through them and use all the suitable ones."

Eddie opened the TM list and applied every move Treecko could learn.

Ding! Treecko learned Giga Drain, SolarBeam, Iron Tail, Double Team, Thunder Punch, and Aerial Ace!

Afterward, Eddie examined his inventory, spotting Seven Silver Crowns. Without hesitation, he took them out for Treecko's use.

Ding! "Based on Treecko's current potential, the probability of breaking through using a Silver Crowns is 35%. Do you want to proceed?"

"Use!"

Ding! "Treecko failed to break through its potential!"

"······"

Eddie frowned, then glanced at the remaining six Silver Crowns. Waving his hand, he decided to keep going.

Ding! "Treecko's potential has successfully broken through! It is now at the Elite level!"

Satisfied, Eddie turned his attention to the Gold Bottle Cap. He hesitated for a moment.

"I should keep this one," he decided.

Gold Bottle Caps were used to break through to Master-level potential, and he had used one before when he didn't have enough Silver Crowns. Now that he had five Silver Crowns left, he preferred to save the Gold one for later.

With that settled, he continued using Silver Crowns on Treecko.

Ding! "Based on Treecko's current potential, the probability of breaking through with a Silver Crowns is now 25%. Do you want to proceed?"

"Use!"

Ding! "Treecko's potential failed to break through!"

"Keep going until it does!"

Ding! "Treecko's potential failed to break through!"

Ding! "Treecko's potential failed to break through!"

Ding! "Treecko's potential successfully broke through! It is now at Champion-level potential!"

Eddie glanced at the one remaining Silver Crown, unfazed.

Obtaining more wouldn't be too difficult for him, and Gold Bottle Caps were the rarer find. Without hesitation, he equipped the Miracle Seed to Treecko, then opened its updated status panel.

Eddie was pleased with how much stronger Treecko had become.

As he reviewed his progress for the day, he realized he was nearly finished. At that moment, he pulled out the letter he had received.

Upon opening it, he saw a single line of text:

"No need to doubt—just get stronger as soon as possible."

Eddie rolled his eyes.

Without a second thought, he crumpled the letter into a ball and tossed it to Charmeleon.

Catching it with one hand, Charmeleon opened its mouth and Spit Up a small flame, reducing the paper to ash.

Beside him, Frogadier held up a trash can, effortlessly catching the remnants.

"What nonsense. It's late, and I'm exhausted. Let's get some rest," Eddie sighed. "Not like those other players can catch up to me anyway."

Turning to his Pokémon, he gave them a final instruction.

"You three can rest here. I'm logging off."

With that, Eddie went offline.
