Restaurant La Mer Éternelle
Peter von Campbell and his wife, Maria von Campbell, settled gracefully into the seats across from Sienna-Rose and Haley, the waiter pulling out their chairs with ease. Once seated, both turned their attention to Haley, their polished smiles almost too perfect, too rehearsed.
"It has been a long time," Maria said warmly, her eyes sweeping over her daughter as though appraising her. "You've grown into such a fine young woman."
Peter leaned back in his chair, his expression one of faint surprise mixed with restrained disapproval. "I wasn't expecting this," he admitted, glancing toward Sienna-Rose before fixing his gaze on Haley again. "To marry a woman. I thought at the very least you'd secure a husband from a reputable family. A marquis's son, perhaps. You've always had your mother's beauty, after all."
