{Chapter: 307 D@ddy and wedding dress!}
"Big Brother Lin Yuan? Dad Lin Yuan? Huh?" Mei Yuxian exclaimed as she lightly pounded Lin Yuan's chest with her small fists, her tone somewhere between amused and exasperated.
Lin Yuan wrapped his arms gently around Mei Yuxian waist, pulling her into a warm embrace. With a teasing glint in his eyes, he said, "What's wrong? Is S¡ster Yuxian jealous? Aren't S¡ster Yuxian D@ddy's girl just this night. Do you want to be my good daughter again?"
"I don't want it! Get lost!" Mei Yuxian pushed him away, but her strength was no match for his steady arms.
Laughing, Lin Yuan leaned in and planted a few playful kisses on her cheeks. "It's alright. Qingtong has already gone to pack her things. She won't be back for a while," he said with a mischievous grin.
Mei Yuxian pretended to resist, but after a moment of weak struggle, she gave in and let herself melt into his arms.
He murmured against the shell of her ear. "Is S¡ster Yuxian feeling… territorial?" His lips curled into a wicked smile. "Or is it that someone misses being my D@ddy's good l¡title girl?"
She elbowed him, lightly. "Shut up."
But he didn't pull away. Instead, he leaned in closer, letting his breath dance along the side of her neck. "You weren't saying that last night, were you? Hm?" His voice dropped, teasing. "You were so obedient... so eager to be praised. You looked up at me like I was your whole world."
"I—I don't remember saying that!" she said quickly, cheeks flushed a deep crimson.
"You didn't have to remember it." His grip tightened just slightly, possessive, protective. "I could see it in your eyes, Mei'er."
Mei Yuxian bit her lip and looked away, hiding her expression behind a curtain of hair.
He turned her gently in his arms so they were face to face, eyes searching hers. "So, tell me," he murmured. "Do you still want to pretend you're not mine? After the way you begged for more last night, the way you whimpered when I whispered your name like it was a prayer?"
Her hands were pressed against his chest now, not pushing, not pulling—just there. Her voice came out in a whisper. "You're shameless."
"And you're still blushing." He laughed, brushing her hair back behind her ear. "It suits you, by the way."
"I should hit you."
"You could try. But you'll end up back in my bed again. Face down, probably."
"Lin Yuan!" she snapped, but there was no real anger in her voice. Just exasperated embarrassment. The kind only he could bring out of her.
He leaned forward and nuzzled into the crook of her neck. "Don't worry. Qingtong's gone to pack her things. She won't be back for a while." His voice was silk and sin, every word drawing goosebumps up her arms.
"You planned this," she said accusingly.
"Of course I did. You don't think I'd share your sweetness after tasting it, do you?" He kissed along her jawline. "Once you play that role, there's no going back. You can fight, pout, tease all you want... but you belong to me now. And I take good care of what's mine."
Mei Yuxian's breath caught, a shiver racing down her spine. There was something terrifying and thrilling about the way he said it. She hated how easily he could unravel her.
His hands crawl over her body like a predator savoring its claim. She looked up at him, breath trembling, eyes cloudy with a swirl of reluctance and desire.
"I hate how good you are at this," she whispered.
"I know," he said, brushing a kiss across her forehead. "But that's why you keep calling me back into your world, Mei'er."
She turned her face slightly, her voice quieter now. "Then... just hold me for a little while. No teasing."
Lin Yuan blinked. But he obeyed.
He wrapped her in his arms without a word, and let the silence stretch. In that quiet, there was no roleplay, no games. Just the lingering heat of something real trying to find its shape in the morning light.
They shared a long, affectionate kiss—slow and lingering, their lips locked for over ten seconds. When they finally pulled apart, Mei Yuxian rested her head gently against Lin Yuan's chest, breathing softly. Her fingertips traced small circles over his shirt as she whispered, "Thank you… really, thank you for stepping in and filling my place today for Qingtong. I feel guilty for not being there myself…"
Her voice was low and filled with a rare vulnerability. Mei Yuxian, despite her elegance and strength as a businesswoman, was still a mother who couldn't help but feel that she'd fallen short in some areas. She genuinely appreciated Lin Yuan taking the initiative to accompany her daughter.
"I might be a capable CEO, a successful entrepreneur," she said with a sigh, "but when it comes to being a mother, I often feel like I'm failing…"
Lin Yuan gently held her hand, squeezing it reassuringly. "You've done a great job, Yuxian. You raised Qingtong all by yourself. That's no small feat. She loves you dearly, even more than she shows. And it's not just you she adores—she's come to care about this 'dad' too." He smiled. "You've played the role of both parents all this time. That makes you a superwoman in my eyes."
"Tch! What dad? Don't talk nonsense!" Mei Yuxian rolled her eyes, but her lips curled into a smile. She hit Lin Yuan's chest a few more times, this time with less frustration and more affection.
Then, after a brief pause, she reached up and began fixing his slightly askew tie. Her movements were natural and graceful—like a wife caring for her husband before he headed off to a business event.
Lin Yuan looked at her with warm eyes. Seeing this gentle, domestic side of Mei Yuxian made his heart flutter. He leaned down and placed a soft kiss on her forehead.
With a smirk, he said, "President Mei, you look just as virtuous and graceful today as you did yesterday."
Mei Yuxian raised her charming eyes and gave him a sly smile. "Oh? Has Dad Lin Yuan's heart been touched?"
"Of course," Lin Yuan replied without hesitation. "Even as a 'dad,' I'm still a man. And before going to the parents' meeting, this man wouldn't mind sharing a little love with the child's beautiful mother."
As he spoke, he slipped his arms around her slender waist.
"Ah! No! Stop!" Mei Yuxian cried out, half-laughing, half-panicked. "The door is still open!"
Seeing her flustered state, Lin Yuan chuckled and said, "Relax, I'm just teasing. I wouldn't really do that with the door wide open." He gently let go of her and gave her a quick kiss on the cheek. Her face was flushed, not just from embarrassment, but from the mix of tension and affection she couldn't quite hide.
"You're so annoying… Go away already!" she pouted, turning her face. "And stop calling me baby Yuxian. Call me S¡ster Yuxian!"
"Alright, alright. S¡ster Yuxian it is," Lin Yuan said with a grin.
Then, his expression shifted slightly, becoming more serious. "By the way, during your company's board meeting later, make sure to mention the strategic cooperation between the Mei family and the Lin family."
Although still recovering from his teasing, Mei Yuxian nodded as her mind snapped back into business mode. "Don't worry, I remember everything clearly. And thank you again, Xiao Yuan, for the list you gave me. I had no idea the Chen family had infiltrated the Mei Group with so many spies."
Lin Yuan gave her a firm look. "That's why you need someone watching your back. Don't try to carry everything alone."
Her eyes softened again as she looked at him. Though she might not say it aloud, she was slowly coming to rely on him more than she realized.
"Then I'll head out first and accompany Qingtong with her matters," Lin Yuan said calmly, straightening his collar. "If you need anything at all, just call me 'S¡ster Yuxian' and I'll come running to serve you right away."
Mei Yuxian chuckled at his playful words and responded with a warm smile. "Alright, but the same goes for you. If there's ever anything you need, no matter how big or small, don't hesitate to call on the Mei family. We'll never turn a blind eye to you, Lin Yuan."
"I'll keep that in mind," Lin Yuan said, and before leaving, he leaned forward to plant a soft kiss on Mei Yuxian's lips.
Their goodbye kiss wasn't overly passionate but tender—one filled with unspoken promises and shared understanding.
Lin Yuan and Mei Yuxian had already discussed in detail how their two families would cooperate—not only in business ventures but in personal matters as well. It wasn't a shallow agreement based on emotions or favoritism. Despite their personal relationship, Lin Yuan had ensured that everything was handled with maturity and fairness.
The foundation of their cooperation was built on logic and mutual benefit. Lin Yuan had carefully planned every detail so that both the Lin and Mei families would benefit. He made sure the terms of their partnership were equitable, transparent, and beneficial to both sides.
After all, Mei Yuxian was not just a woman he cherished—she was also the proud head of the powerful Mei family. Lin Yuan understood that any agreement between them had to uphold her dignity and authority as well. He never wanted her to feel like she had sacrificed her family's interests for the sake of their relationship.
In truth, the partnership was strong because it was rooted in strategic trust, not just romantic affection. This was why Mei Yuxian felt even more drawn to him with each passing day.
She wasn't some naïve young woman who was easily impressed by charm or looks. While she found Lin Yuan attractive—his sharp features, his calm presence, and his elegance were a bonus—those weren't the reasons she felt so captivated by him.
What truly fascinated Mei Yuxian was his competence. His terrifying intellect, his foresight, and his ability to execute his plans flawlessly. He was a man who knew how to protect the people around him—not just emotionally, but materially and politically.
As Lin Yuan walked away, his figure upright and composed as he descended the stairs, Mei Yuxian couldn't help but linger in the doorway, watching him. Her eyes softened, filled with longing and complex emotions.
In her heart, she didn't just see him as a lover. She saw him as her confidant, her partner, her equal. The man she had waited for all her life.
She dared to dream.
She dreamed that one day, Lin Yuan would truly become her husband. That the feelings she kept quietly in her heart would blossom into something even deeper.
She even secretly wished that Gui Qingtong, her own daughter, would eventually grow tired of Lin Yuan and move on—find another man her age, and leave Lin Yuan to her.
It was a selfish wish, one that made her feel guilty—but she couldn't deny it.
She longed for the day when Lin Yuan would stand by her side at the altar and put a wedding dress on her with his own hands. Not for status. Not for duty. But out of love.
Her previous engagement had been arranged. There had been no love, no anticipation, no romance. The thought of marrying that man had made her sick to her stomach. She hadn't even shown up to the wedding.
But Lin Yuan was different. For him, she would wear that wedding dress proudly. She would walk down that aisle with a heart full of joy, not dread.
After all, what woman doesn't crave romance? And for a woman like Mei Yuxian—someone who had spent her whole life sacrificing for others and putting on a strong front—the yearning was even deeper. She had never truly experienced romantic love before. Not like this.
But reality tugged at her heart like a gentle hand. She wasn't a young girl anymore. She had responsibilities, image, and a family name to uphold.
With a quiet sigh, she shook her head, dispelling the thoughts clouding her mind. There was no time to indulge in daydreams.
She turned back into the room and began organizing her things, preparing to head to work. The world wouldn't wait just because her heart wanted something more.
---
Meanwhile, downstairs…
Lin Yuan entered the guest bathroom to freshen up before heading out.
He splashed cold water on his face, then took his time drying off. He applied a touch of hair cream and carefully styled his hair with the blow dryer, making sure every strand was in place.
Staring at himself in the mirror, Lin Yuan adjusted the collar of his shirt and gave himself a nod of approval.
Clean. Sharp. Composed.
"Brother Lin Yuan?~ Are you done yet?~ We'll be late~ Let's go~" Gui Qingtong's soft, melodic voice echoed from outside the bathroom door.
"I'm coming," Lin Yuan replied calmly.
He stepped out of the bathroom and headed toward her.
The moment Gui Qingtong saw him, she froze in place.
Her bright, delicate face lit up with astonishment. Her eyes widened and her lips parted slightly in awe.
There was no doubt about it—she was completely stunned by his appearance.
Her reaction wasn't subtle, either. Her expression betrayed just how surprised—and clearly smitten—she was by how handsome Lin Yuan looked at that moment.
He had styled himself with such finesse that he looked like a prince stepping out of a high-class magazine. His aura was calm yet commanding, his every movement graceful and confident.
Gui Qingtong's heart skipped a beat.
