Chapter 5 - Chapter Five

ALEX'S DILEMMA

She stood and stared for some seconds before getting back to her senses.

Her heart skipped a beat, and her lips parted in disbelief. The sight of him felt like a slap of reality, a man she had given herself to so easily now stood in front of her in a perfectly tailored suit, looking every bit like he belonged to a world she didn't understand.

"I'm sorry, sir. You can have a seat while I take your order."

He didn't even flinch. His voice was sharp, confident, commanding.

"I don't take orders. I give orders around here. Get back to work before you lose your job."

The words slapped her across the face. She blinked, stunned, then bowed slightly and hurriedly walked off, her black shoes clicking lightly against the marble floor. Her mind reeled.

"I only give orders around here."

What does he mean by that? Her thoughts tangled with confusion and embarrassment. She'd forgotten for a moment that they had a thing—a one-night spark that had turned into a firestorm of emotions she couldn't name.

"How?" she whispered to herself in disbelief.

She moved from table to table, taking orders with a smile that barely masked the storm inside her. Her eyes, however, were restless, scanning the entire building, searching for the man in the suit. Julian. He had looked at her as if he owned the world and her too.

The curiosity ate her from within. She couldn't shake the memory of his touch, his lips, the sounds they shared that night. With a forced calm, she approached one of her female co-workers, glancing around to make sure no one important was watching. Business policy frowned heavily on gossip or asking about clients, especially ones in suits.

She lowered her voice to a whisper.

"Does the man in the suit come here often?" Her eyes darted across the room.

The girl smirked knowingly, almost amused at the question.

"Yes, he does. He's the CEO. The notorious, strict and playboy CEO we've been talking about."

Alex's eyes widened. A gasp escaped her lips before she could hold it back.

The pieces clicked into place. Everything now made sense—the confidence, the authority in his voice, the dismissive tone. He was the boss. The very one she had unknowingly given her body to.

"Gosh. What have I done? I slept with the CEO?" Her thoughts screamed. She could barely function after that. Orders blurred. Words slipped. Her hands trembled as she balanced trays. The only thing keeping her from collapsing was the realization that she needed the job desperately.

Then she saw him.

He walked out from an office with the same presence, the same pride. He looked at her eyes intense, staring like they did that night. That same stare. The one that made her legs weak and her breath hitch.

She quickly broke eye contact and busied herself with taking orders, anything to avoid acknowledging what was swirling inside her. She counted the hours till closure like a prisoner waiting for release.

Finally, when the clock struck, she rushed out of the resort like a woman fleeing a crime scene. Her fingers trembled as she dialed her best friend's number.

Beeps.

"Hey, girl!" Mia's voice rang on the other side of the line.

"Guess what happened today at work?" Alex said, her voice breathless, filled with shock and excitement.

"You met with your notorious boss?" Mia guessed, half-joking.

"Yes, babe!"

"I'm so good! So was he notorious like he was tagged?"

"Babe. This is more than being notorious."

"Tell me. What happened?" she asked, clearly anxious now.

Alex inhaled deeply and spilled everything.

"I saw troops of guys come into the resort today, and I asked if I could take their orders but I was chased out like a chicken. To sum it up, it was my boss. My boss is the same guy I met at Eclipse lounge and I had a thing with him that same night."

Mia gasped.

"When? You guys only exchanged contacts."

"He called that same night asking if we could hang out and one thing led to another."

"Girl! You had a thing with this man when you barely even knew him!"

"I don't know what came over me. I only wanted to feel his veins inside me," she said quietly, almost ashamed, but not fully regretful.

She stood still in her hallway, her hand pressed against her chest. Her heart wouldn't stop racing.

"So he's your boss, and obviously he'll want to lure you to his bed a second time."

They were still talking when the line broke up. Alex sighed and shoved her phone into her bag, unlocking her apartment door. She walked in, dropped her bag by the couch, and sank onto it. Her eyes stared at the ceiling.

What do I do now?

No answer came to her. The room was silent. She came to one conclusion: Take whatever comes at work until I find something else. No drama. No scandal.

She decided to take a shower. The water hit her skin, warm and soothing. But then—ring ring.

Her phone. She ignored it. Probably her mum or Mia again.

After her bath, she walked out in a towel, wiping her face with another. She picked up the phone. Unknown number.

Curious, she called back. No answer.

Then it rang again.

She picked.

"Hello, Lexa."

Her breath caught. That voice. She instantly recognized it. Smooth, confident, dangerous.

"Hello," she said in shock.

"Is that how you greet your boss?" he said teasingly.

"I'm sorry, sir."

"It's fine, Lexa. So, since you are off from work can we hang out?"

She hesitated. "I'm sorry, sir. The first was a mistake and I don't intend to continue."

"And who said something will happen? We're just going to grab a drink."

"Sir, I can't. I'm scared."

"I understand but it won't take long. I'll drive you home later."

She paused.

"Okay, sir. Same resort?"

"Yes. I'll be waiting at its bar."

The line disconnected.

Alex stared at the phone for a few more seconds before making a decision. She walked to her wardrobe, picked a random silky red gown, one that hugged her curves tightly, and a pair of white heels to match. The mirror reflected a woman unsure of her next steps, but determined not to be caught off-guard.

She hailed a cab.

As she stepped out, a tall security man in uniform approached.

"Miss, please come with me. Mr. Julian requested you stay here for a moment before he arrives."

He handed her the key to a room. She followed him without question, her heels clicking against the tiles.

A bar turns out to be a room? she thought as she entered.

The place was cozy, with warm lights and a faint scent of vanilla. A king-sized bed stood neatly made in the center. The curtains were velvet, half-drawn. She walked around, her hand brushing against the leather couch, the glass table. Every part of the room whispered luxury.

Suddenly, the door creaked open.

She turned swiftly.

Julian walked in.

Her eyes met his, and then trailed down. His jeans fit snugly around his hips, revealing more than she was prepared for. Her heart skipped again. She swallowed hard, eyes helplessly drawn to the imprint his jeans couldn't hide.

She walked up to him slowly, lips slightly parted. He didn't say a word, only watched her. He could feel her energy shift—hesitant, aroused, unsure. She stopped in front of him. Her hand reached out and brushed lightly against his groin through the jeans. He was hard already.

The tension was electric.

Her fingers paused, then retreated. She tried to step back.

But he grabbed her hand, pulled her gently closer. His hands slid around her waist, then down to her ass. He gave it a firm spank.

A soft moan escaped her lips.

She bit her lip, confused between stopping and surrendering.
