Deciding to go to Rousseau's to cool down, Marcel was excited to see Camille again, or Cami for short. A psychology student working as a bartender, who moved to New Orleans to investigate the death of her twin brother, Sean O'Connell. The niece and nephew of the priest Kieran O'Connell.
It was a shame he couldn't tell her the truth, but it was better this way. Humans knowing about the supernatural was never good.
He walked in with a grin that immediately fell when he saw who she was talking to.
Quickly walking over, he interrupted their conversation. "Camille, good to see you, and I see you met Kol," he said, giving the unpredictable Original a side glare.
Kol grinned, sensing the tension within him. "Yes, Cami and I have become fast friends. She was just telling me about her studies."
"Is that right?" asked Marcel with a forced grin, reaching over to slap and squeeze Kol's shoulder threateningly, hiding it in an overly friendly way.
"It is," said Kol, reaching, in turn, to squeeze Marcel's until they heard a pop, forcing the suave vampire to grit his teeth in a grin and bear through the pain.
"What was that?" asked Camille with concern.
"Nothing to worry about darling, Marcel was always a bit overprotective of those he likes. Tell me, how long has it been since you two got together?" asked Kol cheekily.
"Oh, no, we're not together," said Cami hurriedly, shaking her head.
Kol grinned, "So you're available?"
"I came to deliver important news: your brother Finn is in town, and he's looking for you. Why don't you go home and say hi to him for me?" Marcel snarked before Camille could answer.
Kol's face froze, "Is he now?"
"Klaus and Elijah are waiting for you," said Marcel seriously.
"Well, it's been fun. I hope to catch you again soon," Kol said to Cami, taking her hand and kissing it, receiving a friendly smile in return. "And you should I find out otherwise," he warned Marcel before leaving.
"That was intense. What's up with you two?" asked Cami.
"Oh, we go way back. You should be careful around him; he's not exactly the friendly sort," said Marcel.
"He seemed nice enough, now what can I get you?" asked Cami.
Marcel sighed, taking a seat, "That's how they draw you in, and I could use something strong, it's been a long day."
"Speaking from experience?" questioned Cami, grabbing him a drink.
"Now why would you say that?" asked Marcel, genuinely curious.
"You strike me as a guy with a chip on his shoulder, someone with something to prove. Somebody who's not used to being told no," said Cami, pointedly.
Marcel smiled bitterly at the last part, if only she knew, "You're good. Tell me again why you're working here and not in some cushy office listening to the daily woes of people for 200 an hour?" he asked, though he already knew the answer.
Her smile faltered, and she was relieved from having to respond by the arrival of another patron.
When she returned, she inquired, "You're still here; would you like another drink?"
"Still treating me like another customer, you wound me," said Marcel playfully.
"I'll do more than that if you keep pushing," she joked back.
"Girls got fire, I like it. Look, if you're going to psychoanalyze me, the least you can do is let me take you out so you can get to know me better," said Marcel, leaning in.
She laughed, "You're good Marcel, but not today or anytime soon."
"But possibly in the future?" he grinned.
Without answering, she left with a smile to fulfill other customer orders while he nursed his drink and happily watched her work. Today was looking better already.
.
"Where do you think they are?" asked Finn, brushing past a group of people.
"They used to live here. So, possibly a home they once had. I can make a call and ask our witches," said Sage.
"No, not yet. I'm in no rush," said Finn, taking her hand into his own.
She grins as they continue their walk down the street.
"That's the French Quarter coming up, the oldest neighborhood in the city. We have to go there, but if your siblings are anywhere, it's likely there," informed Sage.
Finn grinned, "Let's go."
.
Marcel stiffens when he sees who walks in. Based on the description he received, it could only be Finn Mikaelson and his girl.
Letting go of the glass in his hand when he noticed it cracking. He takes a breath before downing the drink, doing his best to ignore them.
He hears them say something to Cami, and she responds, "You just missed your brother."
"And where might I find him?" asked Finn.
"Huh, I thought you knew. I must have misheard, but Marcel knows," said Cami, pointing him out.
Marcel groans inwardly as Cami gives him away.
He stands to face them, putting on a strong front while dying on the inside. Could this day possibly get any worse? "If it isn't Finn… and Sage Mikaelson," said Marcel, noticing the mating mark and matching rings.
Sage grinned at hearing her new full name for the first time.
"How can I help?" Marcel grins, appearing friendly.
"I think you know," said Finn, cutting to the chase.
"I'm afraid you just missed Kol, and by now they're likely altogether at their home after having heard you're in town," said Marcel.
"And where exactly would that be?" asked Finn.
"The Abattoir, a very large house down the street, can't miss it. Even has your family's crest carved into it, an M above a winding snake," answered Marcel, figuring they'd find it sooner or later regardless.
"Thanks," said Finn, holding out his hand to shake, which Marcel politely reciprocated. Finn's grip tightened as he forcibly turned Marcel's over to get a better look at his ring.
"Said your name was Marcel?" asked Finn, looking from the ring to his eyes.
"That's right," said Marcel nervously.
"I'll be seeing you around Marcel," said Finn, releasing his hand and walking out.
Marcel plopped back down, wiping the metaphorical sweat from his brow.
"That didn't look so simple to me. What was that about?" asked Cami when she got a minute, serving him a drink.
"The worst sort of family drama, I don't recommend it," said Marcel, taking the drink.
Finn Mikaelson was like nothing he had heard about, the man sent shivers down his spine. At least with Klaus, he knew what a paranoid evil bastard he was, and Elijah with his do anything for family crap, even Kol and his games, but Finn seemed cold, looking at him like he was already dead and he just didn't know it yet.
He had a feeling defeating him wasn't going to be easy.
