The guard moved out, signalling to the other guards to head to search that hut.
Adam and Samantha's expressions didn't change, but their hearts thumped.
Adam followed, trying not to come off as suspicious.
"There's no one in the hut. A baby can't be there without us knowing." He said.
He had said that if someone came searching for the child, they would hand her over, but he had also come to become attached to the child. He also couldn't bear to let go.
The guard turned to him.
"We have to obey orders, and the orders is to search everywhere." After saying this, he then gestured to the rest of the guards.
They headed to the hut. The hut was actually a shed.
The guard opened the door and began to search while the rest of the guards stood outside. They couldn't all fit in the shed.
The shed itself was small, and there wasn't much in it. There were simple farming tools like hoes and knives and a stack of hay in the corner.
