Kael and the handful of other Elder Gods had gathered within a narrow slit of broken space, their forms barely visible. Not that they were building any more pathways, or coaxing the void down to meet them in careful strands of creation. Whatever they were doing now was much simpler, much broader – a single great pulse of force, meant to break through the final barriers of slumber surrounding the deepest hunger and bring it to a waking, if late, reckoning. They had nothing more to lose.
