Chapter 94 - Chapter Ninety-Four - A Lost Sheep Finding Her Way Home, East Coast

"A prison turned stronghold?"

Standing on the cliff edge by the stream, the woman was obviously bewildered at the sight before her.

She quickly returned to her senses and looked at her surroundings.

'That was dangerous.' She sighed with relief that there was no danger when she lost herself there for a second.

She slowly climbed up one of the trees near her and observed the battle taking place on the other side of the bank.

'There's someone on that tower.' She thought when she realized that one of the gunfires was coming from the tower nearest to the stream. She pulled one of the small branches near her and broke it off before hiding herself behind it.

'They have a lot of people and by the sound of it, they are heavily armed. Did they loot those weapons from a police station?' A military camp never even crossed her mind since the nearest camp from here, Fort Benning, is miles away from them. It would take a highly skilled and mobile group if they want to reach that place safely.

It was already a miracle when Rick and his crew made it all the way to the south border without any major hiccups.

'They are really not being lured towards them. If it's true that they're more inclined to go towards living humans, then this finding is seriously a gloomy discovery' She knows that if her findings are proven true, then the future of humanity is currently bleak. It would prove difficult for humans to establish a solid foothold since walkers would certainly siege them frequently.

'Should I join them?'

While watching those people down below defend their home, the woman remembered her family that she had lost, especially her child and suddenly had thoughts of wanting to settle down.

'Well, I already have nowhere else to go anyway, and the thought of wandering aimlessly suddenly feels tiring.' She let out a soft chuckle when she realized that she had also been living like those walkers too.

Soulless beings with no aim in life except to eat and destroy anything that moves.

So she waited on that tree for what felt like hours and remained in that place even after the battle had ended. She kept watching them before making her way down.

Landing on the ground, she cautiously looked around her and slowly made her way over to the prison.

She didn't immediately reveal herself though. She looked for a hiding spot nearby and continued observing them from afar and only when she gathered enough information did she finally come out of her hiding place and made her presence known.

"Hey."

She slowly walked out of her hiding place and called out to the nearest survivors who were all busy moving the bodies.

"W-who are you? Don't move! Stay where you are!" Ron, the once overweight college kid, and had lost a lot of weight since then jumped up in panic and quickly drew the butcher knife hanging on his waist. His companion beside him also did the same, but unlike Ron, his friend just calmly watched the unknown woman.

"Relax, I'm not here to cause trouble."

"Y-you stay there!"

Hearing the disturbance from their direction, the survivors dropped off what they were doing and swarmed towards them.

"Out of the way!" Daryl yelled through the crowd as they gave way for them.

"Who are you and what do you want?" Rick's presence immediately calmed the agitated crowd who looked like they were about to do something drastic earlier. Obvious from how the dark skinned woman had even drawn out her sword.

"Michonne..I'm looking for a place to rest before continuing my travels."

While a major event is taking place back at the prison. Somewhere east of Georgia.

"Damn, we have really travelled all the way to the east coast just because we wanted to avoid the herd." Rosita chuckled while looking at the view outside of the vehicle.

Right now, the vehicle is parked on a small hillside road where they can see a small harbor not far from them, where the river and the sea meet.

"Why did we stop? Have we arrived at the prison?" Andrea came out of the bedroom rubbing her eyes as she made her way to the front.

While watching Michael put tapes around the bullet holes in the middle of the windshield, Rosita responded to her. "We're in a small town on the east coast called Townsend."

Looking at Michael outside the window, Andrea slightly frowned. "Wouldn't it be better to just replace the windshield or completely take it off?"

"And where would we get this shit replaced, hmm?" Michael heard the muffled voice of Andrea from inside and gave her the side eye.

Andrea just suggested in passing but had no answers for it, so she just shrugged her shoulders.

Michael pulled his body away from the carhood and made his way inside. "Duct tape will do for now, I'll take care of it when we return to base or if we get the chance along the way. But for now, this will do."

Andrea shrugged her shoulders. "Alright, but what are we doing all the way out here? Shouldn't we be returning? Don't tell me the herd really stretched for miles all the way here?"

"Obviously not, it's just that almost every road was blocked. Besides, we've already made it all the way out here. So why not make the most of it? We might find something interesting here." Rosita explained it to her since she had been asleep most of the entire journey. A result of Andrea taking watch almost every night.

Andrea rolled her eyes and said. "What can we find here that we can't find in other places? Well, maybe other survivors, who'd probably rob us instead rather than befriend us."

Michael was in the process of inserting bullets into the magazine in his hands and responded to her. "You haven't seen it since you were asleep, but this place is almost devoid of any walkers. Maybe, they're somewhere around here and we just didn't see them, but this is a good chance to loot this place of any resources, like medicines and things that a baby will need. We didn't have the leisure to properly loot the places we drove by, so let's take this chance before making our way back. You never know, we might stumble onto something here."

Andrea scrunched up her brows. "Like what?"

Michael snorted, he really does not like this side of her that's slow to pick up on things. "A dildo maybe? Of course, anything that might prove useful to us in the long run babe. So, let me make it clear before we head out, our priority is medicines and anything related to it, second is food, then useful books, preferably mechanical or agriculture and other useful miscellaneous things that we can find, got it?"

"Yeah."

"Alright."

While the trio was preparing to head out, a couple of unknown human silhouettes in the distance were quietly watching them through the lenses of a binocular.

"What do you think? Are they also dangerous like the ones before them?"

"I'm no fortune teller, but we'll find out once we make contact."

One person slowly stood up from their hiding place, finally revealing his appearance.

If Michael could witness this scene, then he would certainly be surprised to see a familiar face here in such an unfamiliar place.
