Ric stood in front of Cammy, her words still echoing in his chest like a slow, steady drumbeat.
'I trusted you.'
His lips curled into a wide smile... One that took over his entire face, reaching his eyes and turning them to crescents of light.
Then, unexpectedly, Ric brought both hands up and covered his face, letting out a small, almost embarrassed laugh.
Cammy blinked in surprise and then burst out laughing.
"You're blushing?" she teased, laughter bubbling in her throat as she stepped a little closer.
Ric peeked through his fingers like a shy boy, shaking his head. "I can't help it," he said with a sheepish grin. "No one's ever said something like that to me before. Not like that."
Cammy's smile softened, her laughter fading into something tender. "Well, get used to it," she said gently. "You're about to marry me, remember?"
He let out a breathy chuckle and lowered his hands slowly, meeting her gaze again. His cheeks were still tinged with pink.
