Chapter 16 - Ep.16 The New Empress of Darkness(1)

"I don't think we need to remind you that Kantokol is a Lich. His magic capabilities will far exceed our combined skills. But in exchange for overwhelming magic his physical strength will be very low."

"Be prepared in your mind for anything unexplainable since I highly doubt that the Lich has just an absurd amount of magic power."

Mel rolled her eyes as if she wasn't preparing in her mind for her next fight with Kantokol. She knew it wouldn't be an easy fight but it was most definitely possible.

'If this wasn't possible then that man wouldn't have said what he did yesterday.'

Mel was obviously talking about Jacob and his warning to beat Kantokol before the day ends which only made Mel worried about what was to come.

And like always neither Tuan or Jakmol could speak of what was to come or rather they had no clue at all but it was difficult to tell which it was.

"Let's go, I'll be relying on you both. I'm confident after training with Melodea that I can make over a hundred undead. For too long have I shackled myself for the sake of others."

Until now Mel was like a caged bird who was yearning to fly around with no restrictions or burdens.

But that time was over and the bird was about to spread her wings and fly higher then she thought possible.

""So… you have returned at last. I have been waiting. I suspect that this will be our last encounter so I will answer one question as a curiosity of the creator.""

Mel was thinking of a question despite floating in the darkness without a care in the world along with Tuan and Jakmol.

"Hmmm this is tough to say… I guess… what will happen if I were to defeat you?"

Kantokol smiled and removed his left glove to show that he and Mel shared the same symbol but the only difference was that Kantokol's symbol was glowing.

This naturally caught both Tuan and Jakmol's attention as they immediately noticed the difference in power was because the mark.

""if you defeat me then this power will be yours to command freely. At your current stage you will only be able to control this power for a minute.""

Mel was a little slow but could tell that most of Kantokol's power was from the mark.

But the time to talk was over as Kantokol summoned his undead army again.

But unlike before Mel was ready and summoned her own undead.

""Hmm? Well that's certainly a spectacle to witness… an Undead Valkyrie and a Wyvern, Interesting.""

There were only a handful of occasions where a Valkyrie had descended to earth. And normally if they were to die then they would be sent back to Asgard, the Primordial Realm of the Norse Gods.

However the Valkyrie that Mel acquired from Melodea as a parting gift was a fallen Valkyrie. Its soul was cut off from Asgard and was destroyed while its body was dragged to hell by servants of a Demon King.

And thanks to Mel's training with Melodea she successfully managed to make an artificial Soul and plant it into the Valkyrie's husk.

The Wyvern was an added bonus since Melodea felt bad about forcing Mel to eat her weird foods every day.

"Despite being an undead, the Valkyrie still holds an incredible amount of Divine power. I was worried that it would just explode but I think she'll last longer than expected."

A single thrust of the Valkyrie's spear killed a few dozen of deathknights along with a few Lesser Lich's.

Even Tuan and Jakmol were somewhat surprised to see an Undead Valkyrie.

'Seems like she's somewhat competent.'

'Maybe there's hope after all.'

Both Jakmol and Tuan were older then most deities aside from a select few like Gaia and Sauron but this was the first time they ever showed interest with the capabilities and potential of a single human.

However Kantokol had a trick up his sleeve so to speak as the broken bones of his undead melted and turned into armour for Kantokol.

'What the hell? He's using the bones… to make armour? Don't tell me…'

Jakmol and Tuan were to busy destroying Liches and DeathKnights to even notice until all that was left was Kantokol himself. Even then his appearance changed drastically to that of a true lord of the dead.

Fitting with skeletal armour of a dark purple hue and crimson red stripes with a crown made of bones that looked like metal along with two greatswords in each hand, Kantokol gave off an impressive aura of a King.

And in the endless cold of darkness Kantokol was a King. With just one single stroke of his hand the greatsword effortlessly followed suit while a tremendous amount of mana was inbued into the blade itself before firing off like a tsunami.

""Rejoice onto Death, For I am it's Savior from Life.""

Mel felt a chill crawl up her spine from simply gazing on Kantokol's new appearance even while Tuan and Jakmol used a combination of skills to stop the Tsunami from Kantokol.

"Void Piercer!"

"Golden Throne!"

The Void Piercer was Tuan's signature move and even despite its true strength being sealed by Jacob after being resurrected, its strength was still beyond human comprehension as it could bend the void to always reach it's intended target.

If anyone was capable of even learning the Void Piercer Technique would place them above even the strongest hunters in the world.

But the Golden Throne Technique was vastly superior as it would protect anyone or anything from harm regardless of status.

If a child could master this technique then not even Gods themselves could even touch a hair on its head.

However both of these heavenly Techniques could only do so much since most of Jakmol and Tuan's power were sealed by Jacob.

Most would have felt like there was a chance to win against Kantokol if they were in Mel's shoes. But Mel felt something was off before the Valkyr who had lost a wing in the battle threw Tuan, Jakmol and mel into the air before they were caught by the Wyvern.

"What the?! Hey! Watch where your throw-"

""I alone am King of the Dead.""

Kantokol had shown Mel the true power of the mark as a pale white mist started flowing out of his hand.

"Stay back! It's dangerous!"

"Seems this Lich has more tricks than we thought."

Mel watched as the mist started to change or more accurately invert the Valkyrie's colours before it stood in front of Kantokol as a shield.

"He… He took my Undead! The nerve of this guy!"

It was correct to say that the Valkyrie supplied by Melodea was a reward for completing her training and now that very same reward was stolen and turned against her.

""The Mark of Death grants Sovereignty over all Undead, even if that undead isn't yours to summon.""

A Necromancer taking the undead from another Necromancer. A simple and yet very powerful way of Turing the tides of a battle, that is if the enemy was a Necromancer.

But Mel became enlightened by the name of the power given to her and Kantokol as she kept wondering how were there difference in their Markers so vast.

'Could it have been so simple? Could that really be the answer?'

Tuan and Jakmol were formulating strategies to beat Kantokol but were in quite the precarious situation since most of their powers were sealed. It was a miracle they could even use Void piercer and Golden Throne.

They had failed to notice Mel's power skyrocket until they felt their bones and flesh breaking and bending.

"Hey! What are you doing?!"

"We still need to defeat that Lich you know!"

Tuan and Jakmol realized that they were becoming into armour and weapons like what Kantokol did, it was only possible from the moment Mel stabbed her own heart with her knife and let her True power take its first breath.
