The female smiled. "Future telling."
Thalina's brow furrowed. "What does that mean?"
The female's mate chuckled. "There's a male in there who claims he can see one's future."
"Oh," Thalina said, nodding. "Like fortune telling?"
Silence.
The males and female stared at her like she had just claimed she could sprout wings and fly away.
Thalina awkwardly cleared her throat. "I—never mind."
Shifting her weight, she glanced at the tent again. "Is it safe to go in alone?"
One of the females' mates scoffed. "Of course. No one would let a dangerous male set up a tent just for clueless, helpless females to wander into."
Thalina narrowed her eyes. "Helpless?"
The male smirked but wisely said nothing more.
Thalina exhaled, then grinned playfully as she looked down at Vanora. "What do you think? Want to hear our future?"
Vanora, still nestled in the basket, perked up. "I want to play the game!"
Thalina chuckled, her smile soft and beautiful. "Alright then."
