Once the monsters had fled, all that was left was to do a quick sweep for any that might still be hiding in the area, and then they could inform the locals it was safe to head home and check the damages.
Having the infrastructure team still in Wistfield was going to be a huge benefit, as there was not only damage to repair, but monster corpses to dispose of, before the rotting bodies contaminated the fields.
In a remote battlefield, they could be left for wild magical beasts, and then nature would take its course, leaving nothing behind after only a few short years.
But this was all cultivated farmland, they couldn't wait years for the bodies to decompose, and they certainly didn't want an influx of wild beasts and monsters in the area.
But even in tragedy, there is opportunity.
Destroyed buildings meant work to rebuild them. Damaged roads meant there was a reason to build better ones.
