"Now dis... dis is de life," Ethan's voice couldn't help but speak, as his body floated in the rooftop pool. The pool released steam, as if its waters were being warmed. And beside him, floating in the same stance, was Ken, whose gaze was staring dead straight at the night-lit sky. The moon, as if announcing its presence, was directly above his floating body.

"Move out of the way!" Mei shouted, as her body was already above Ethan's, falling downward after doing what seemed to be the highest dive ever done by man. Ethan was stunned, and his body was frozen, as his eyes couldn't help but fear the shadow that was descending from the open sky, then…

BOOM!

There was impact.

"Hehe," Nagant couldn't help but laugh faintly, as her body was suspended by a floatie that prevented her from sink.

And Ethan, who had now emerged from the pool's underparts, shook his head, retreating to distance himself from Mei in haste, for he felt that she was too dangerous. "Hehehe," Mei emerged in laughter, as her face was wet and her hair covered with a swim cap that wore the same color.

And as Ethan saw her emerging body, he quickened his swimming, as his face showed an expression of absolute fear. Yet for some reason, it seemed that Mei was faster. She grabbed him by the leg and dragged him towards her floating self.

"Help me!" were his only words, which only brought laughter to those who lay in the calm of the darkened atmosphere.

A smile played wide on Nagant's expression, so wide that Ken couldn't help but notice—peaceful it was. So much peace that, even with the sound of splashing waters, even with the sound of fearful friends, the air felt peacefully quiet.

_____[ELSEWHERE]

"Help me…" A voice too faint to be heard by surrounding hosts.

"Please… no," his body crawling as a monster followed from behind.

"No… please!" he almost screamed, yet his watering eyes prevented its sound from surpassing burdening emotion. He was dead—or at least about to.

DOO!

His hands met a wall—as they tried to move an almost dead body forward. Yet eyes realized too late that hands were leading body to a dead end.

"Ahhhhh!" his voice screamed in pain, as a blade from a large sword impaled and opened leg.

"Ahhhhh… ah," then the other. He was truly dead.

Turning his fallen body to look at he who was leading his soul to meet—leading his soul to death coming. Yet he was only met with a face of shadow.

Whoosh-thunk!

His head met floor, and his vision faded. Not even realizing that the same blade which caused the futility of his legs—made headless corpse.

"Not enough!" spoke the shadow. "I need more speed," his voice whispered. "Power; speed; arms; tactics," its sounds continued. "I still lack too many things."

"What was it?" the voice questioned. "How can I forget?" it spoke. "I swear I remembered… it's… it's, yes… Resolve," then it stopped, its face only hidden as its eyes gained view. As if their irises retained some type of pending growing light, some type of enlightenment. "Fucking false hero," then it left. Jumping through buildings as if it were a creature of the night. As if a monster coming—as if the devil.

_______[ELSEWHERE]

"Isn't school opening on Wednesday?" Nagant's voice spoke out. "So why are you going tomorrow?"

"Not sure, it has something to do with collecting a trophy for getting first place, nothing much," Ken's voice answered back slowly, its depth relaxed as his body lay on the large softened sofa, which he would swear was the most comfortable sofa in the world.

Both Mei and Ethan had dropped their bodies right next to them. As a large flat-screen TV displayed a flickering image of a fireplace, which one might think brought some warmth. Their eyes were closed, as if their minds' consciousness was asleep.

"Ohh," Nagant only replied, gaining Ken's attention with its suddenness.

"You aren't surprised?" he asked faintly, although his voice had questioned, his fallen figure was calm, as if the answer she would give wouldn't matter anyway.

"Not really," she spoke, removing any chance for Ken to question. As she moved her head, dropping it backward, the cushions deepened the comfort they brought. Her eyes began to shut, and only words came through, as if to keep her soul from moving slower than spirit. "We are good… right?" her lips asked a question, not faint but clear, as if for answer they expect. "Yeah," Ken responded, "we are good."
