The de Lys estate was already busy before sunrise. Duke Lysander left with Rowan and their troops, leaving Sera under the Old Duke and Alec's care. It didn't take long before Sera's party also left the capital. People came out of their homes and businesses to see the long line of carriages leaving along with Sera. They were murmuring to each other, but there wasn't one who tried to make a scene to delay their departure vocally.
Once they got past the gates, Lyria sighed in relief. She was prepared to protect Sera if anyone tried to make a ruckus, but thankfully, there was none.
"I must say, Miss Lyria, it must have been quite a task to prepare our departure on such short notice," Sera commented as she settled comfortably in her seat. Across her sat Lyria and her personal maid, Charlotte, whom Sera decided to keep for the meantime.
"Oh, it was no bother, Lady Sera," Lyria sighed, "I would much prefer to accompany you than be left to contend with those dreadful nobles."
