The following day, Kael discovered that marking a date on the calendar had inconveniently concrete consequences.
Amelia appeared at breakfast carrying a folded sheet of paper and placed it beside his plate before even sitting down.
Kael looked at the paper.
Then at her.
"What's this?"
"Transportation schedules for the exhibition."
He closed his eyes.
"I only marked the date."
"I know."
"I didn't say I was going."
"I know."
"Then why did you look up transportation?"
Amelia poured herself some tea with absolute composure. "Because you were about to do it yourself and would probably choose the longest route just to avoid asking for help."
Sylphie, sitting on the other side of the table, made no effort to hide her smile.
Kael pointed at her.
"You told her."
"I didn't have to."
"Institutional betrayal."
Seraphine pulled the sheet closer before he could stop her. "There are three options."
"Don't encourage this."
