He couldn't deny it anymore.
He was drawn to this woman. He wanted her to only look at him.
"The wounds aren't too bad, so can you treat them instead?"
"B-But!"
"I don't want people to come in and out and make a ruckus."
Why was this man acting like this today? Adelina narrowed her eyes as she gazed at Ethan, but he remained calm. If she gave him her heart because of his gentle words, would she only end up getting hurt again?
The silence lingered for a moment longer but was broken when Adelina saw his wounds.
"Let's go inside."
Adelina held the umbrella up above him, and Ethan stretched out his hand. With his wounded hand, he took the umbrella from her.
"Husband! Your wound…"
With his other hand, Ethan grabbed Adelina's. Her resolve to keep her expectations low was suddenly plunged into darkness. Her heart throbbed as if it were going to burst.
Was she dreaming? Was that why the warmth of his hand was so vivid to the touch?
