Chapter 24 - Asuma Sarutobi

"Hokage-sama. The Genin is here." A beautiful woman said to Hiruzen who was sitting on his chair while smoking his pipe.

"Sent him in," Hiruzen said to the women.

Shiro slowly walked into the room and looked at Hiruzen straight in his eyes.

"Do you know why I called you?"

He asked Shiro.

"I don't, Lord Hokage."

The boy replied.

"Your teacher won't be able to come back for a while because of an important mission, and your two other teammates have withdrawn as Shinobi."

He stopped talking for a few seconds to exhale some smoke.

"Normally you are the only member of your team who is going to take the Chunin exam. So you should be getting trained personally by your jonin instructor but it is not possible right now. If you don't want to take the exam this year you can tell me now. I will personally give you a new recommendation next year." Hiruzen said as he looked at Shiro.

"I refuse. I will still take the exam." Shiro said.

Hiruzen smiled when he heard Shiro's words.

"Then I will arrange another Jonin instructor to train you. After all, I don't want a promising student to die because of this unfortunate timing." Hiruzen said as he looked at the documents containing Shiro's performance during his academy days.

"You can go back now. I will notify you later after I find a suitable instructor for you."

Shiro walked out of the room after his conversation with the Hokage was over.

"Hmm. Great Sword Skills and average taijutsu skills, not notable in ninjutsu but far from the worst. No Genjutsu showing just yet. Wait, he already learned two fire styles jutsu?" Hiruzen looked at Shiro's information to find a suitable master for him.

"Hmm. So, In the end it still comes down to Asuma." Hiruzen said as he sighed.

"It's going to be troublesome to convince him to teach that kid."

"I refuse," Asuma said as he arrived at the Hokage's office.

"This is not an order but a request," Hiruzen said to him.

"That is why I refused. I would have agreed to train him for a few days if it were an order." Asuma replied.

"The new ino-shika-cho will be trained by their respective clans, so you will have some free time. Why are you rejecting my proposal?" Hiruzen said to Asuma.

"Don't tell me you are rejecting my request because you want to spend more time with that girl." The third Hokage said.

"I don't want to interfere with your daily life. I didn't even meddle in your relationship, but the request I am making is for the sake of the village," he continued.

Asuma knew that he could not reject the offer after Hiruzen said those words.

It's not that Asuma didn't want to help Shiro but it was him not wanting to get involved with something that was not related to him.

"I will train him for a single week," Asuma replied.

"You should have been like that since the beginning," Hiruzen said.

Asuma then walked out of the room, but he slammed the door on his way out.

When Shiro got back home, he saw the Dragon's sword on his table alongside an envelope.

"That's strange. I don't remember them being here." Shiro said.

When he left his house, there was nothing

It was his payment for the success of the mission.

"I could get some meat with this amount of money, I should also get another carton of milk and eggs" Shiro said as he opened the envelope and counted the money.

I also needs to go to a sewing shop too. He thought as he looked at the clothes that he used on the previous mission which were covered in cuts.

In a small barbecue shop, Asuma was having a meal with his students to notify them about the third Hokage's request.

All three of them are from the Noble clan, and they use their clan's Hidden techniques called "Hiden" techniques to fight, so they would be training at their own home for the Chunin exam.

Hiden techniques are rare, and among this year's Konoha's genin teams, only two teams have students who know how to use Hiden techniques.

And in the year before that, only one Genin knew Hiden technique, and that was Neji Hyuga, who is considered a prodigy.

This is the reason why Asuma was asked to train Shiro. Because of other Jonin teachers who have no such students would have been training their own students their own teachniques.

An example is Kakashi, the jonin teacher from Team 7 is teaching his most gifted student a powerful Ninjutsu that could even rival Hiden jutsus.

"So you are telling me you have to train that Ghost Face for the exam," Ino asked Asuma.

"You can't just call someone a ghost because of their skin complexion," Asuma said to Ino.

"It's not just pale white. It would have been much better. It might even make him look like Sasuke-kun, if that's the case. But his skin is glowing. He has white hair, but it's not the same shade as his skin. That is so creepy." Ino continued.

Girls, only thinking about a guy's appearance. They are so shallow. I hope I never get married in the future. Shikamaru thought as he slowly ate his food.

During that moment, Choji, who was sitting near him, took a fish cake from his plate.

"..." Shikamaru looked at his friend, who was not even listening to what their teacher Asuma was saying and just focused on eating.

"Hey. Don't take the food from my plate." Ino yelled at Choji when he did the same thing that he did to Shikamaru.

"It's not like you are going to eat anyway. Didn't you say you were on a diet?" Choji replied.

"I am not going to eat it, but it's not gentlemanly to eat the food from a girl's plate." Ino refuted.

"As I care about being a gentleman," Choji replied.

Those three are hopeless. Asuma thought as he looked at his three students.
