"What in the world?" Serena whispered under her breath. It was an absent minded gesture she did when she took the reins from Her hands tightened around the reins as the horse stamped its hooves and tossed its head impatiently.
Ryker, of course, had been the one to choose this particular stallion.
The creature was a fine animal, glossy-coated and strong, but it was foul-tempered and far from compliant. Serena tugged and tried to coax it to keep pace with the others, yet the horse resisted, snorting and jerking its head to the side. Every few steps, it seemed intent on going its own way. Her body ached from keeping her balance.
The more she focused on getting the horse to follow the small group the more she lost focus on her surroundings. She hoped with everything in her heart it would not rain.
