Chapter 31 - Chapter 31: The Trap

Noid confirmed his direction and flew at full speed on his flying carpet.

A few days ago, he had uncovered information that an important clue was in Orna city. He couldn't confirm if this was true or false, so he intentionally spent a few more days investigating, and the results all pointed to Orna city.

Orna city, he knew this city. It was a subsidiary city of Rorgh city, and also the place where Sasha had previously carried out an important supply escort mission, and also the first time the Doom Cult returned to the public eye with an attack that was suppressed in just 10 minutes.

Noid still remembered Sasha shaking her head when recalling that raid, simply saying it was "too weak."

"If Garfeild came from Orna city to Rorgh to manage the Doom Cult, then a faction of the Doom Cult must have existed in Orna city from before."

Noid was initially a bit suspicious of this clue. But the more information he got later, the less his suspicion became.

Garfeild hadn't lied; the clues related to him were definitely in Orna city. It didn't matter if the man in black and the police found them, because everyone who knew about them would be buried there.

Orna city wasn't too far from Rorgh city. It only took two hours at maximum speed, and Noid could already see a cluster of buildings in the distance.

This time, Noid planned to sneak in. A subsidiary city was only about the size of a single district in the main city; if all went well, it wouldn't take too much time.

By the time he arrived, it was already close to nightfall. To avoid detection, he retrieved his flying carpet, then used his invisibility cloak to run a long distance toward the city wall, and naturally entered the city.

Because it hadn't been as severely affected by the dooms as Karj city, Orna was still quite bustling. Noid remained in his invisible state. He began to move through secluded areas, his eyes constantly scanning the crowds.

No suspicious signs.

Noid wasn't surprised and continued to check other areas. Three hours passed, and there was still not a single sign.

He wasn't disappointed or discouraged, because the Doom Cult was a bunch of rats hiding in dark corners. It definitely wouldn't be easy to find them.

Much later, the entire city had long been silent. He bet that some cult members would come out for a "night hunt." That would be his opportunity.

But it seemed Noid's view of the Doom Cult had become one-sided. Comparing the Doom Cult to rats in the dark was not wrong, but it depended on the situation. In Rorgh city, where security and law enforcement were extremely strong, the followers were like sewer rats, hiding and only daring to forage when all the humans were asleep. But here, the "rats" only needed to avoid the eyes of humans, whether it was day or night didn't matter.

After waiting for a very long time with no progress, he had to give up for the night.

On the second day, Noid continued as he did the day before. But this city was just... too normal. Sometimes he even wondered if the clues he had gotten were wrong.

"How could this be?"

Noid was a little confused. He had prepared himself to face major obstacles when confronting the Doom Cult's forces here. But things were beyond his imagination. The important clue had led him to this city, but there was nothing here.

Noid thought to himself that if he didn't find anything tomorrow, he would return to Rorgh city and not waste any more time here.

On the third day, he saw a woman in a dark corner with a cloth covering her mouth. The woman was unconscious on the spot, and a masked man dragged her away.

"There it is."

Noid breathed a sigh of relief. His three days of waiting hadn't been for nothing. He immediately took off, following the masked follower like a ghost to a tall building. It looked like a company building.

The only thing was, there was no guard on duty, which was even better. He smoothly snuck in, then found the familiar staircase leading down.

Below was a corridor. He observed from the shadows; there was no one there.

Noid confidently entered. He quickly followed the corridor to the worship room.

He opened the door to the worship room, but what was inside wasn't a group of followers, but a pile of slimy blood and other things mixed together. Looking at it, it seemed to have been there for a long time, constantly piling up to form such a disgusting mess.

And on top of that pile was a doom, sitting arrogantly, covered in chains. Noid was horrified, and at the same time, his heart was burning with anger. How many people had this thing eaten?

In particular, when he saw some parts and organs of children mixed in there, some bad memories began to replay in Noid's mind. Fury erupted like a volcanic eruption.

But he forced himself to calm down. Because there were other people in the room: two young girls around 20 years old, who were gagged and tied up, struggling. Their faces were full of tears. Seeing Noid, they struggled even harder, mistaking him for a Doom Cult follower.

Before he could explain, the sound of chains breaking echoed. The doom was freed. It pulled its leg out of the slimy pile of human remains and advanced toward the two girls. Its four mouths opened to reveal rows of sharp teeth.

The two girls were terrified and wanted to run. But with their hands and feet tied, how far could they go?

Just as they were about to be eaten, the man in black who had just opened the door raised his gun and shot the doom. The doom was slowed down and roared at the man in black. The man in black dashed in front of the doom, skillfully dodging its attacks while continuously firing his gun.

Doom, stat 1.1.

The doom didn't seem to be injured, but its speed was getting slower and slower, and its movements were becoming more and more sluggish. It was then stabbed in the throat with a baton by the man in black. A smell of something burning wafted up, and with that, the doom fell.

Compared to dooms that were fed human flesh, he felt they were too weak compared to dooms on the battlefield. So, they were easy to deal with.

He untied and ungagged the two girls. Both of them knew they had been saved, and tears began to flow uncontrollably. They tried to thank Noid. But before they could speak, a voice came from a corner of the room.

It was a speaker, and the voice was that of a woman.

"You're stronger than I thought."

"Since you're such a party crasher, do you want to play a game?"

"Since you're so fond of saving people, this time there will be a lot of people for you to save."

"I'll place two live people in each room. If you don't want them to be torn to shreds, hurry up, party crasher."

Noid's face turned grim. He had been played! From the very beginning, the clue about Orna city was very likely deliberately leaked to him. In Rorgh city, they were very restricted and couldn't deal with him.

So, they threw out a delicious bait that Noid couldn't refuse, lured him here, and then designed this ridiculous game.
